Tier 1 vs tier 2 - NA
I find the total kills thing on wvwintel to be messed up a lot, but if this is true that’s pretty interesting.
T2 IS NOT MORE ACTIVE – it is just there are more roamers on T2 and that is where the deaths come from. The T1 blobs mostly PPT and avoid each other, it seems. So, kill count is not useful either.
T2 is closer in ppt and that keeps it relevant for some if not many. I know I know who cares about ppt – the casuals – fair weathers do.
Last week YB won by more than 110k and 130k. YB leads by 70k this week – meanwhile, t2 was 25k last week and 3k this week.

that would be hilarious if it did include npcs. im on tc and in the past (dont play wvw anymore) the karma train was pretty real, so in a way it wouldnt surprise me.
yeah it would. they tried this with seasons and it was incredibly 1 sided for 90% of the matchups. the population just isnt there for each server to make this a viable option. maybe if they limited it to only 1 tier above/below you.
Do those kills also count for those that hide behind walls and wipe groups with tons of siege? If so then those numbers wouldn’t really reflect accurate activity. Example: Would be one zerg trying to take a keep over and over during prime time, say 1-3 hrs, then kill count would climb up. I’m sure there are other ways the count isn’t an accurate reflection of activity.
JQ kinda quit after YB had cloaking waters, chilling mist and airship on smc and wiped them continuously last week. There’s been blobs in ebg lookin for fights but the rest of the maps are dead.

It is way closer for 1st which is what I meant. there are 2 servers with a legit chance of winning – difference between 2nd and 3rd (outside of seasons) was always meh – because not winning either way. Your perspective is from the 1 distant server in the match not one of the 2 close servers. T1 doesn’t have that “race for the finish”. 5 weeks ago it did, but not since.

A month ago, I would’ve said I doubt the data. But now? Um, T1 is really truly kinda dead. JQ lost a couple of large EU & NA guilds to BDO. BG these days are only active during the few hours NA. YB is the only server in T1 ppting hardcore throughout multiple timezones, and the other 2 servers have pretty much said screw it not worth the effort.
If you try to login to either JQ or BG during EU, early NA, late NA, and SEA, you’ll find most of your assets taken by YB. Most people these days aren’t interested in running around pvding or run into siege-capped, fully fortified, heavily camped keeps. So when they login to see that, they log right back out.
I don’t blame any server, player, commander, or guilds. This is all on Anet and how out of touch they have been for the past 3 years with regards to WvW needs, and how to keep WvW healthy and active. I don’t doubt the data about T1 vs T2, there has been a downward trend for quite awhile. Remember all T1 servers were Full not long ago? Now they’re marked Very High, and I expect to see at least one T1 server fall to High soon. Remember T2 servers were “Very High” and even one hit “Full” not long ago? Yeah, they’re all just “High” now. Population & activities are down all around on all NA servers.
GG Anet really, GG. Why don’t you just talk some more about raids, because that’s really what the majority of your PvE & WvW players want to hear about.

Even the YB “roaming” group ganking people outside SMC was pretty much the same size as the JQ pug blob I saw in NA prime for all of 3 mins total. Meanwhile YB had a 60 man blob that was throwing 9 catas on a tower and portal bombing and siege creeping the BG group that was half its size lol this mode is done.

FA’s NA presence is what basically died and what’s keeping it behind. An array of PPT hackers being banned last week (see reddit) had led to DB and TC to hold objectives longer than normal; T3 towers are no longer being flipped instantly by random people flying over walls, and subsequently no longer needing to put people in towers to defend them from people flying over walls has led more people into playing aggressively.
Massive negligence to WvW as a format by ANet is the real culprit, though. There’s no denying the decisions made with HoT have led the format and WvW participation as a whole to be substantially lower than before.

A lot of guilds have shuffled around within T2 and have moved into and out of T2. The DB/TC fight going on now is one of the closest and most interesting I’ve seen in a very long time, particularly when running NA prime.

Much of JQ went to DBO and other games until they nerf DBLs.. if they dont bring back Alpine and revert HoT many wont be back at all. The largest 100% active WvW only guild on JQ hasn’t even been raiding for months..

I see fellow T1 core players here saying the same thing I have been for ages and no one will listen. When we all go silent, that means we all gave up /uninstall and stop waiting. There will come a point that it was too little too late and they waited too long to do as we asked and they will never consider coming back after that point. MANY T1 players and guilds are setting up house on other games atm. BDO getting most of them for the time being. The same T1 guild rivalries on here are being carried over there. XD
See, this is something that Anet has failed to capitalize on in a major way. The rivalry and camaraderie that WvWvW creates. Instead they try to shoehorn people into 5 man sPvP teams and have at one point actually considered churning out PvE content every 2 weeks (those are nightmarish deadlines) to keep PvErs. All those tiers and queues to the point where they made EotM to alleviate it, but those players just weren’t enough to be worth real, active and continued development? Meanwhile, they had to introduce megaservers and gut dungeon rewards (which I’m sure was at least partially influenced by gem sales) to save empty PvE maps. It just seems off to me.
In the end, it’s people who make the MMO experience worth anything. Even guilds from Archeage are playing BDO. That game will have to seriously mess up for those players to leave their established communities and accounts, castle sieges and GvGs to come back to GW2 in a meaningful capacity and not just log in for dailies. T1 NA is so bad right now that its comical. YB has a map blob in EBG yet they’re managing to flip all the other maps and siege up paper towers. The chilling fog + air strikes in an already sieged up SMC (like seriously, having some of these upgrades should decrease the siege cap, shouldn’t have both).

I think not, with the outnumbered. I play in EU, against TC currently, and the TC EU blob is real – I mean they outnumber us like 3-4 to 1. If you have an outmanned buff, then the server I am on should have it too and most times we do not.

Seems tier 2 is more active and perhaps Anet can see this and give us 1 random match up a month ? Pretty sure people would be excited about fighting new people once in a while.
I have an account on Yaks, during the climb to T1 we kittened the other 2 T2 sides every week every week till I felt very sorry for them.
The fact that they were willing to try to fight gives plenty of kudos to them.
Unless you have an idea to make the playing field far more level it won’t work.

And if the players REALLY wanted balance they wouldn’t have jumped to TC, they would have jumped to FA. The T1 players complaining about YB dominating and jumping to TC or DB are just perpetuating the core problem with WvW, a lack of balance.

FA’s SEA consists of GK and MM who do not rally every day. TC’s ND is much respected for the fights plus TC has a large amount of pugs from their time in T1. DB’s SEA is just a ktrain blob that looks for easy PPT when they lose.

This is true. DB is huge during SEA time.
But because they are HUGE, if you do transfer to FA, be sure to transfer at least two 20+ men guilds.
Otherwise you’re just going to get steamrolled by the huge DB machine.

That is TC in a nutshell also.
Most FA guilds have left the game, probably never to return. The way WvW is setup now, the only players that will still play are the ones that siege hump.
On this last reset, there were so many TC on, that they actually had every single tower in every single BL and all sieged up too.

Seems tier 2 is more active and perhaps Anet can see this and give us 1 random match up a month ? Pretty sure people would be excited about fighting new people once in a while.
I posted the cap levels in another thread. Both TC and DB had higher activity levels than BG. You are right that either of these servers deserve a shot. Unfortunately it will take forever for the glicko scores to get close enough to allow this to happen. TC and DB will continue to beat up on each other slowing down the process while BG is kept up by the broken glicko scoring mechanism.
These numbers are not accurate. The API data is still not entirely fixed.
Before the PPK went in and borked the API data T1 was averaging between 30-50% more kills per week than T2.
Or do you really believe that T1 is only as active as T3-T4?
T1 in NA is still significantly more active than any other tier in NA, and once the API is back up and fully repaired, the numbers will show that.
I believe it. The game mode is hemorrhaging out the top. No one wants to play anymore, and Anet will not listen to fix it. I see fellow T1 core players here saying the same thing I have been for ages and no one will listen. When we all go silent, that means we all gave up /uninstall and stop waiting. There will come a point that it was too little too late and they waited too long to do as we asked and they will never consider coming back after that point. MANY T1 players and guilds are setting up house on other games atm. BDO getting most of them for the time being. The same T1 guild rivalries on here are being carried over there. XD
See, this is something that Anet has failed to capitalize on in a major way. The rivalry and camaraderie that WvWvW creates. Instead they try to shoehorn people into 5 man sPvP teams and have at one point actually considered churning out PvE content every 2 weeks (those are nightmarish deadlines) to keep PvErs. All those tiers and queues to the point where they made EotM to alleviate it, but those players just weren’t enough to be worth real, active and continued development? Meanwhile, they had to introduce megaservers and gut dungeon rewards (which I’m sure was at least partially influenced by gem sales) to save empty PvE maps. It just seems off to me.
In the end, it’s people who make the MMO experience worth anything. Even guilds from Archeage are playing BDO. That game will have to seriously mess up for those players to leave their established communities and accounts, castle sieges and GvGs to come back to GW2 in a meaningful capacity and not just log in for dailies. T1 NA is so bad right now that its comical. YB has a map blob in EBG yet they’re managing to flip all the other maps and siege up paper towers. The chilling fog + air strikes in an already sieged up SMC (like seriously, having some of these upgrades should decrease the siege cap, shouldn’t have both).
YB apparently is entertained by sieging up towers, the thing is no one else was, and got bored and left. The players coming on don’t care about PPT, they just want fights.

Most FA guilds have left the game, probably never to return. The way WvW is setup now, the only players that will still play are the ones that siege hump.
On this last reset, there were so many TC on, that they actually had every single tower in every single BL and all sieged up too.
Unmanned acs are considered as siege humping? 2/3 of those will get nuked down before anyone gets there to use them……

UHH – TC likes to place in areas where even though you can’t see the ARCs, they can still hit you. Like from behind the door, on 3rd floor of SMC, etc. IT is ridiculous that you can’t see them but they can still hit you. Also, TC usually 2 or 3 mesmers in every tower they take and cancer mesmers at that. They can portal any one in – done.
Last night TC outmanned use by a huge amount (we had the Outmanned buff for at least 1/2 hour), same thing with DB, and they still would not fight, they siege ‘creeped’ which is just ridiculous. They came to try and take our Gari with15 against 5, we concentrated on the getting the Golems down they were using (we had no supplies either so no siege) and TC just up and ran away.
You can’t force a PPT server to fight, if they don’t want to, and TC has shown unless they have siege (either in keeps or open field) they will not fight unless they have overwhelming numbers. So, this is why most of FA left, why give TC free bags when they will not fight. FA probably decided to let TC PPT themselves into T1 (along with DB) and then lets see how T1 fares with all siege humpers and PPT people in the top tier. It will be boring, that is for sure. I can see it now, each in their respective keeps with out even fighting each other. I am sure that is what A.Net really wanted for WvW.
Why? Please no. If I get caught in a TC YB sammich I’ll have to uninstall.

My understanding is that the kill and death tracking in the API is currently broken. Unless they fixed it since last week. Lasts weeks data was still flakey. Are those charts up to date?
