Tier 3 - Tier 5 is a bit messed up atm.
You forgot t8, that one is a bit skewed until more people settle into fc and et

SoS is a bit of a wildcard here, though they seem to be holding their own in T2 against 2 very strong servers so I suspect they’ll be too strong for the current T3 as well.
Ideally the gaps between each tier shouldn’t be as big as they are now such that occasional tier movements don’t immediately create blowout matches, but transfers lulz
It’s like that for all the match ups when there are major changes in server populations. (which just occurred again) It might be a month before this is all sorted out and by then a bunch of guilds might jump ship again to band together on a server and we will start the process over.

Agree. SoS would have to completely fall apart for the OP’s match-ups to occur & based on their performance so far this week that’s unlikely without a lot more defections. In the long run SoS will most likely become the third server in tier 3 with DB & Mag.
The tier 4 YB/CD/EBay match is a lot more balanced than the scores at this time show. I expect the gap between scores will close as the week progresses. CD’s more rounded coverage may even win them the match, just as it did a few weeks ago.
Tier 5 is in an awkward situation. Short of one of the higher tier servers collapsing, DR & IoJ just might have to form an alliance against SBI to get a competitive match.

SBI also held for a while their first matches at T2 when it bleeded…
At fist week, they scored 182k (3rd place)
Then they dropped to 100k (3rd place again)
And finally the deserted server died with 46k in the last week on T2 (Needless to say it was 3rd)
SoS is likely to suffer the same fate, as I assume people from there will be hurt even more for losing to T2 servers when they were clearly a T1 server… People on high tiers tend to worry about this kind of stuff (Unlike T6-T8 where it’s a entire different game).

So people are still constantly transferring at the upper tiers despite the gem cost?

Tier 8 is an outlier problem really. You got the bottom two servers without a potential third server for an equal match up. Where as t3-5 has an actual chances of somewhat equal matches.

The horrible thing is that while some of us dont mind fighting SBI on a good night when the numbers are equal, its just become a routine pain every morning to find SBI owns everything. Spend the next 3-4 hours fighting for it back only to lose in the evening again. It’s just a steamroll.

naw, we have 3-6 potentially good opponents… but the unsuitable opponent is stuck cuz theyre not quite enough to break free like kaineng/dr were, but wayyyy too populous for us. so we dont have the option of finding suitable opponents.
at least theyre getting bored and making the match a little closer this week / last week.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions

SOS is now clearly too weak for current T2 and will replace either TC or FA in T3 in time.

I guess the question is, how do you fix it? Free transfers to FC? 5000 gems to transfer to JQ?
I know I (and my guild) moved to DR on day 2 due to 20 min que times on JQ the first day. None of us want to move again… I am sure most guilds are in the same boat. So the only way to affect changes is changing gem prices, or allow guilds to transfer (with upgrades) to a lower tier.
Or is a more volatile ranking system the answer? If you win, you move up, if you lose you move down? Or change the formula altogether?
How do you do it without completely jacking up the system, and so that it is fair to all?
