Tips requested for a Warrior new to WvW
Which weapon sets are you running/want to run? And what do you want to do in WvW?

Two things: A) You’d probably do better posting on the warrior forum for advice. B) You haven’t specified what sort of role you want to fill/weapons you want to use. Nor have said what sort of environment you want to play in.
We really need those last two pieces of info to help you.
First of all thanks for the responses
I posted it in here because this is about me being about to play WvW, but I agree that it would fit better in the warrior forums.
The weapons I prefer to use are a sword and a shield. Mainly because the shield gives me attacks to interrupt others and defend myself better, and the sword because I believe it’s more effective than the axe when fighting multiple enemies (which is a situation I often find myself in).
That is also mainly my playstyle. Up to this point I played the same way as I played my Tank specialised Warrior back in World of Warcraft (shield + much defence and health). You will always find me on the frontlines of the battles.
My warrior is Hammer/S+Sh
0/0/30/20/20
Berserker armor and everything else is Knights gear
Good at 1v1, 1v2, excels in Group battles blowing up the enemy zerg ball with the hammer then switching to S+Sh to escape, heal and do it all over again.
If you are interested let me know and I will post the build in more detail.

Please do so. I’m very interested in all sorts of playstyle fit for WvW.
Use the hammer to blow up everything when you get in trouble switch to S+Sh then pop endure pain +Dolyak signet and use sword 2 to escape and you still have Shield 5 for blocking if you need a long escape. You can also use charge to escape if you need to but thats better used to start a knock down chain with the hammer.
I had 10 in Strength but it was a waste because I use the hammer burst every chance i get so I put that in tactics to get Shrug it off.

So you want to be in the scrum eh? There are 3 things you need as a warrior in the fray: toughness, a way to deal with conditions, and Mobile Strikes.
Toughness is fairly easy to cover. The Defense tree is one of our better trait lines all told. I personally go 30 deep and use Sure-Footed, Shield-Master, and Defy Pain as my baseline traits. Swapping them out as needed when I change weapons. I also use the P/V/T armor from WvW/Orr/AC and swap between Knights and the Rare P/V/T jewelry from the WvW vendor depending on my weapon loadout.
Conditions are less straight forward. To my mind warriors only have 3 really viable routes to condition management. You can either slot 6 Runes of the Soldier and use Shout utilities to cleanse conditions, use 6 Runes of Lyssa along with Signet of Stamina and Signet of Rage so you have 2 decently low cd full purges, or you can use 6 Runes of Melandru along with a food like Poultry & Leek Soup to get around -60% condition duration.
- Anything else just doesn’t provide enough protection to survive for long when you’re in melee. Trying to sustain yourself only using our built in condition removal abilities, like Shake It Off, Quick Breathing, Signet of Stamina, and Shrug It Off, will get you killed in a hurry. They work nicely to augment the above setups, but are anemic on their own.
- Personally I use the duration reduction method because I much prefer Stances to Shouts. Endure Pain and Balanced Stance have both gotten me out of a lot of bad spots that nothing else could have. Plus Balanced Stance and Frenzy have secured me a lot of kills and stomps.
Mobile Strikes is pretty self explanatory. Nothing can screw you over quite like root does and nothing else in the warriors bag of tricks will allow you to remove roots with such targeted precision on such a potentially short cooldown. All other forms of condition removal (except Warhorn 4) either take time or random chance to deal with root. With Mobile Strikes slotted your Sword 2 and Shield 4 both become root removers. As an added bonus the Disciple line is quite good, Fast Hands and Signet Mastery are both traits I find hard to do without.
Apart from these 3 things everything else in melee is somewhat open ended and you can do as you like.
I have a life steal tanky build that relies more on lifesteal while keeping HP at base value. Still manage to maintain a a good DPS with it.
Axe/Axe, with either hammer or sword shield. depending on my situation.

Knights Armor, Berserker Trinkets
I can post more detail on it if you think this might be something you like
Retribution – Sanctum of Rall
1) Enter WvW
2) Find enemy
3) Target enemy
4) Smash face on keyboard
5) Repeat as needed
A rifle can be a nice back-up plan in the chaos of WvW, to finish off a downed opponent from distance or killshot unsuspecting attackers.
