Tired of opness of trapper rune
So what makes the runes OP all of the sudden, when they havn’t been for the previous year? The fact that the question can be asked, says a lot about the complaint in my opinion.
Personally, I don’t feel the runes are very problematic at all. I havn’t had a great deal of problems with trapper ranger or thief one I got used to fighting them and learned how to adjust how I fight a trapper build.
I think it is a good diversity from LB zerker or thieves using no traps at all.

I’ve found trapper rangers to be free bags now that traps aren’t ground targeted. Just don’t get locked down and avoid the spots where they squat down. Most aren’t running any stun breaks and have crappy or nothing for condi removal. They are very easy to cc and burst down.
Yeah, stealth is an exciting part of competitive play. Please add more of it. Give it to burnguards and other cheeseboxes. Also please add +40% stealth duration food for more excitement.

WvW roaming is all about theory crafting OP builds.
You can certainly still play build that is slightly suboptimal. But you have to extremely good to achieve half the result of playing OP builds.
Personally speaking I hate stealth in competitive game play and always will, and think it should be completely overhauled because its just abused to hell, its should not be the focal point of a build, it can maybe buff or add to a build, but to have an entire setup around stealth is just plain ridiculous and bad design.
In regards to your point about condi not being dependent on other stats, its probably because conditions don’t do crit damage.

I play several classes and out of all of them its the ranger that needs a serious rework. One entire line of skills (spirits) are utterly useless. I wish they would just dump them entirely and come up with a skill set that keeps the ranger more mobile.

Or intentionally spring the trap to Reveal them.

that’s also an option if you have a condi clear ready and know you can survive the initial damage. Also I think dodging through it may also trigger the trap while you evade all the damage/condis
As other have stated, trapper rangers have numerous weaknesses.
Most of the complaints these days about stealth revolve around PU mesmers, so I wouldn’t hold your breath.
So a ranger or thief spouting a condi build with trapper rune is very very hard to kill. And in their infinite <insert something else than wisdom> anet have decided that for condi damage you don’t need two secondary stats as for power (prec/fero) condi dmg is enough.
There are two stats for conditions, condition damage and condition duration. Most condition builds stack both to be effective.

Last night there were 2 trapper rangers (and a condi Mesmer) tailing our Group for 45 mins or so.
Literally the worst cancer ever. I have yet to try out trapper ranger, but when I do hopefully I can learn their weaknesses… Else I’m gonna keep placing stealth disrupt or traps and hope a friendly ranger has Sic Em equipped because these guys just evaded, stealthed, lost LOS CONSTANTLY from us and it was an utter pain to try and catch them.

I disagree. They are limited by skill cool downs, the fact that you have to actually walk into a trap, and blatant predictability.

Let me tell you a story of when Ranger traps were throwable and had no delay before they activated…
It was a time of no counter play and although it was not by any means an “OP build” it certainly eliminated counter play measures as you would never know where the trap was being thrown.
Now that traps have an arming time and are not throwable you always know exactly where said trap is. Right beneath the Rangers feet. Watch for that reaching to the ground animation (which is what they do when they’re setting a trap) and avoid stepping in that vicinity. Or better yet, if you have access to ranged attacks, just kite them to death. The changes to trapper have made it a very strong area denial build. Meaning melee builds are almost hard countered by trapper because any time they get close enough to attack they’ll take massive damage.
It is far from OP. Most trapper’s have no stunbreaks, stability or active condition cleanse. They’re only slippery and difficult to get close to for melee builds.

What? It’s 2 am and I’ve had a few drinks so I’m not exactly at my sharpest. Are you trying to say you are bad at fighting but you can PvE in WvW? That’s cool and all but what do you do when someone shows up to defend?

Unfortunately, Anet actually believes this. Look at what they did with mesmer stealth. That +40% stealth duration food is probably just around the corner.

to reality i can beat almost every class on my S/D thief but it takes ALOT unlike many other classes who can afford a error while i cant on thief no matter what build i run a error means ur most likely getting your kitten teared apart unless ur enemy is a dummy.
just let people play the only thing that is completely wrong in WvW is the damage boost we had recently on all classes this simply doesnt work out for WvW in my opinion.
its not HIDE and even if its hide blame anet for upping the damage while these classes simply cant face tank all this damage like other classes.
Don’t really have a problem with ranger trappers now that they can’t throw the traps. Good ones will try and lure you into their nest of traps, frequently together with another class (with a pull).
Don’t think they are OP at all as long as you pay a small amount of attention to what’s going on.

i completely agree… to be honest with 3k armor and 22k vitality i get direct damage simply insane that didnt happened before

Stealth is a bad mechanic and lazy design. Regardless of power level frequent and/or long stealth is just not an interesting or fun way to do combat especially when re-targeting is difficult and slow enough 1v1, and impossible zerg vs. zerg. When I fight thieves, mez and trappers in WvW the entire fight is me doing anticipatory dodges and evades against invisible attackers trying to burst me, and hitting tab a lot while rotating camera frantically to retarget them and hoping to get in an interrupt/burst of my own before they stealth again.
I’m very successful, I win most of those fights, but that doesn’t make it interesting or good game play just because it’s sort of ‘balanced’.
You could create an effect “Grave Gambit”, where the next time you hit something it’s downed, or the next time you’re hit, you’re downed. Technically that’s ‘balanced’, but it’s also obviously horrible. Balance is not the be all and end all of combat design.
“I hate condis” threads always seem to revolve a few points…
1. The player who insists that zerker is and should be the only meta…moar power!
2. The player who refuses to actually play a “realistic” or “smart” build with some condi removal skills.
3. The player who doesn’t understand that vitality is your offset against condis, allowing you to endure more DoT.
Seriously, if you believe that a condi build is OP compared to a power build…seek help, because you, apparently, haven’t been on the receiving end of being insta-melted by a mantras power mesmer.
The trapper runes aren’t as OP as Thief or Mesmer invisibility skills. Then Warriors will also be getting traps too.
Really though this is an endemic problem with invisibility in WvW, not just trapper runes.

Yes let’s kill the only reason a thief will ever use traps even power builds find a use of it so it must be nerfed and Soldier Runes as well. It’s not hard making bad suggestions when l2p is the answer.
