Hi, i was unsure of what forum to put this thread into, this or pvp since it affects both but i’ll put it here because i have mostly been playing WvW lately.

Well, like others i’m starting to get really tired of Tomes of Knowledge, seeing as i have about 3k spirit shards already and 2 stacks of tomes in my bank + every class in lvl 80 (some even twice).

There is something i have been thinking about since Arenanet first introduced the reward tracks (cus even then i didnt really need the tomes). Why not remove the tomes from all the reward track and give them their own track? So that people who want tomes can easily get what they want and those who dont want tomes dont have to get them all the time. (its bad enough that we now also get a tome every rank up)

So the tome reward track could look something like this (number of tomes):

1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1 ,1 ,1 ,1, 3 and with the final reward 10.

Yes remove the tomes from wvw the reward track/s, no do not put them in their own track, there are plenty of ways to get tomes anyway, rank up chests have them 100% of the time, also daily keep captures when that is in rotation.

I wouldn’t mind them if they had a “consume all” button. It’d just be converted to one more currency I rarely use and be out of my way.

Hmm, I wouldn’t mind making a own reward track for Tomes of Knowledge, but essentially they’re already integrated into the general reward track as is. I don’t think they are going to change it any time soon (is a fairly minor issue).

Proof of heroics. I’d rather have those than spirit shards too.

Or make it possible for these Tomes to be exchanged for other tokens or currencies.

i personally think there is no need to remove the tomes, or add reward track, what we need is something to purchase with the tomes of knowledge…

perhaps convert it into proof of heroics,…or anything idk…

the tomes helped us leveling our new toon with level 80 by doing wvw, and we dont have to grind PvE to get it to 80….you who already have all 80 toons might not care about this…

and the ExP is removed from WvW, if tomes were removed, for new players or new toon they have no other way to level up except grinding in PvE, or PvP, if they are good enough to win every matchto get it faster…
and obviously you dont want to see uplevel in your zerg do you?

this has been a complaint with the pvp tracks as well for a long time, both reward too many tomes that anyone playing for a decent length of time have little use for… most people have all 9 classes @ level 80 and a whole bunch of spare tomes in pvp… it wont be long until you see the same issue (if not already as anyone that’s ran uplevels will likely have levelled up most of their toons by now as well)

allowing them to be converted to proof of heroics would be a great thing (for both wvw and pvp as pvp’ers have no method of unlocking their elites for pve use)

Having more uses for them is one thing, but removing them is something else. New players or players looking to level new classes can now play WvW exclusively and level up very quickly, unlike previously where they would have to do mind-numbing amounts of PvP or EOTM for the same result.

I dont know why so many people are talking about completely removing tomes from reward tracks, thats not what my suggestion said.

If you read the topic, my suggestion was to remove tomes from current tracks and give tomes their OWN track. This would actually allow people who are lvling to level even faster, so all you who are talking about this change causing more uplevels are simply wrong, this would cause LESS uplevels.

So if it is in your interest to reduce uplevels in wvw you should endorse this change.
