During a play session in WvW one easily fills up the backpack with lot of useless items. Then you are forced to visit a vendor or the Trading Post to turn those items into gold. Which you can use to buy repairs, siege blueprints and upgrades in WvW.
I haven’t found use for any items that I looted in WvW aside few ascended pieces, blueprints, gold and badges.
The emptying of backpack can take several minutes and it is rather boring work.
Any way to automate or speed up this process?
No it’s not. WvW players almost completely sacrifice pve all together. PvE has tons of areas that give u tons of gold/mats including dungeons/events.
WvW loot is just the way it should be. The amount of gold u get from a week of farm in wvw is equal to a day of dungeon farm in pve. That combined with the fact u might or might not get good loot in wvw depending on how good your server is.
Right now, because of the deplorable state WvW is in, the only thing keeping players interested in this game mod is loot..nothing else.
I disagree I think the current system works you could buy salvage o matic and a personnel merchant and sell/salvage whilst capping that keep/tower/camp/sentry
or you could just not push F.
Complaining about to much loot I mean really.

But yeah the possibility to configure auto-salvage would be great, e.g. I would like to tell the system that all white, blue green drops are salvaged automatically with my copper-driven salvager, my rare armor drops with a master-salvager.

My only problem is with TP. When I got my bags full I always try to sell greens at TP(4silver per piece? better than year ago) but after selling 3-4 pieces TP refuse to sell more and wil lshow error. i need to wait a while to try again.

I get enough gold to cover my upgrades and siege blueprints, and every few months I can buy a new rune set, too. The amount of gold is fine in WvW. My peeve is the boring work to turn the junk items into gold.
I disagree the loot is the only thing keeping players in WvW. You said it yourself that PvE offers seven folds the loot. Still we rather play WvW. We even played WvW when it forced you to PvE from time to time just to cover siege/upgrade costs.
It’s keeping players there because it’s more action packed then pve is atm and it offers a bit more player interaction compared to pve. But the quality in wvw is deplorable. 90% of what u hear from ppl playing wvw is “bags”…even after fun battles happen what u hear is “oh man so may bags”

The 2 cheapest salvage kit removes 25slots in your inventory when you run from point a to point b.
If you sell them you make a mistake.

- it’s faster
- the materials worth much more then the items (or the other way around: the items only have a value in the trading post due to the materials that you can obtain)

That’s a good tip.
BTW salvaging blue and green items often yield Essences of Luck. Which in turn have no other function but to have the player double click on them in inventory. More senseless and boring work.
I would also welcome auto-salvage option.
Dealing with the Essences is easy.
Go to artificing station in your borderland
Convert them to higher quality essences
Click a lot less times.
If you just play one character you can shove them in the bank and have a character with artificing take care of them.
I use journeyman salvage kits and periodically visit a merchant to vendor all the green runes I get out of loot, and at most I lose a couple of TP copper for the convenience.
Wouldn’t it be smarter if your luck was simply increased automatically instead of receiving Essence of Luck? No need double-click essences; no need to visit artificer station.

I couldn’t care less about EotM.
What we actually need is the ability to select multiple items in the trading post, choose whether to match the highest buyer or lowest seller for all of them and list all of them at once. If I could do that just for all of the sigils I end up salvaging my life would be SO much easier.
There are far more important things to fix rather than putting Anet’s resources into making your loot selling faster.
This is the first I heard of someone complaining about too much loot. It’s not hard to carry a few salvaging kits (or a copper fed) and salvage along the way. It’s not like you’re in constant non-stop fights. There are times where you’re just running between places. The only place this might be an issue is in EoTM and well, no WvWer really cares about that…
I’ve been levelling up a couple of characters in EotM recently and I usually run with 18-slot bags (no extra slots) and 6-8 salvage kits + extra harvesting tools and I’ve never run out of bag space yet.
As for their being too much loot. I took my Mesmer on a couple of hours farming trip for platinum ended up with probably twice as much loot as I normally get in the same time in EotM and definitely far more than in WvW.
Simple solution to having to much loot; start defending and stop zerging. You will get so bored after a while though you will want to carve your own eyes out with a spoon. Bright side being your server will love you and you won’t have that nasty problem anymore.
Edit: I don’t think there is to much loot in WvW, if anything there is far to little (same as defenders).

Could we put EotM champ bags in forge and make better bags? Like ascended weapon bags. That would be good idea.
The loot bags serve as a trophy. Thats their value.
It is very satifying seeing a battlefield littered with enemy corpses and loot bags in your wake. Or seeing your cannon surrounded by a ring of loot bags after repelling a golem rush.
Besides that, loot is totally irrelevant. I don’t get exited picking up that 26,394th blue item. No WvW player does. PvE and EotM players are different species.
Loot only serves as means to get gold to cover my expenses in WvW.
But at the end there is still that unavoidable visit to a vendor or the Trading Post.
Maybe a gold only option for looting?
I am fine with the loot as is, sometimes useful especially while leveling an alt.
tweak the Quality/Quantity ratio a bit more to the Quality side and we’ll be good =D
I never have a full bag in WvW and as Necro I have a class that collects a lot of bags in zerg fights, so some organizational tips may help
Have a look at my bags
The first is a normal bag to collect items to salvage them.
An oiled bag auto collect thorns & co, I don’t need to see them and there are not that many different types and they stack up to 250, so auto-selling them once a day at the NPC (or on map-switch to spawn) is sufficient.
A craftsman’s bag auto collect materials, I do not need to see them as well, I do not sell them immediately, but with “Deposit all Collectables” I send them to my bank regularly.
Another normal bag for stuff ( that is not sellable, so it does not appear at NPC/Trape post) that I want at my finger tip.
And an invisible bag for stuff that is sellable (but does not appear as it is in a invisible bag) that I want at my finger tips.
Viola, I am able to do all inventory business I need to to while auto-running behind the commander. Including selling rare weapons at the trading post.

Salvage o matic is the wvw players best friend after stability
If anything there is TOO LITTLE loot (especially high value loot) in WvW. Right now you are forced far too much to play PvE to get acceptable loot.
Its “so” much better than it was. At launch, you “had” to run PvE on a couple of toons just to support your WvW toon. It cost you coin to play WvW. Repairs had to be paid for too.
Nowadays you can actually maintain a positive cash flow in WvW.
Don’t change a thing.
1) step out of the zerg.
2) less loot.
3) you die more often → more chances to sell loot.
4) …
5) problem solved.

loot in WvW is just fine they way it is, if people keep crying wanting nerfs for everything we just mise well go play something else instead.
I don’t know why some one would ask for less loot in WvW.
I only solo roam and it takes me hours to fill up all slots. When this happens I just salvage and send everything to the bank. It takes less than a minute to do this. Even when I do jump in a zerg which is very rare it still takes hours.
A lot of people in WvW have no interest in pve content. They don’t farm mats or any of the other things to collect gold. My gold income, comes from 2 days of salvage and then post mats on the TP so I can keep buying food buffs.
From the looks of your post you don’t want to pick up loot bags anyway. So for you just stop hitting “F” and you wont have to spend the 1.2 minutes selling or salvaging anymore.

Actually I often steer away from big fights because mesmers are not suited for those. The loot accumulates even when roaming or keeping the defences up.But at the end there is still that unavoidable visit to a vendor or the Trading Post.
Silly?. I think not actually. Many servers need to have people as scouts and sentries in order to keep up their PPT (if you know what this is). You will get very little loot most times doing these activities and the amount of loot you get from other means is IMO a way to offset this fact.
Bottom line is if all you want to do with your time is to pursue loot, please don’t complain that you are getting to much of it. Some of us spend half our time defending towers and keeps and what you consider to be in abundance, we consider to be trivial.

It is not the loot I am pursuing. I thought I made that clear already. Only PvE players can get exited looting gray items.
