Wasn’t exactly sure where to put this topic so I figured in WvW where I’d like to use it would make the most sense.
Superior Sigil Of Torment says that it has a 50% chance on critical to inflict AOE Torment for 5seconds. Superior Runes Of Torment say that they increase the duration of torment. Will these runes increase the duration of the Torment applied by the sigil? Or only by skills separate to the sigil that inflict Torment such as for example, Tainted Shackles? I ask because I’m currently using a Sigil Of Torment on my shortbow with my trapper Ranger. It works quite nicely but I was wondering if the runes would make the damage provided by Torment that much more lethal.

I believe modifiers give a flat increase in all xyz inflicted, like balthazar runes add extra duration to the burning procced from the rune itself and condition or burning duration also makes this burning longer. Of course you can test this out in spvp and that is what I would do if I were you.
The thing you need to consider is whether it gives you an extra tick on the condition or just increases it from 5 sec to 5.5 sec which means it will give the same amount of ticks as before and you wasted a rune slot.

Thank you, good to know. I wasn’t sure because there was already a set value for the torment duration on the sigil ( 5seconds ) So I wasn’t sure if the runes would modify this or not, and since I had wanted to use this on a Ranger I have no other access to Torment outside of the sigil.
I think I’ll avoid using the runes though, the sigil is fine as is. I was just curious how much more I could pump out of that condition but with how little a difference the runes will make I don’t think it’s worth sacrificing my Nightmare runes.
