Why is transfering to medium servers for free?
What did Anet think by doing this????
SFR had a queue of 10 min at primetime a few days ago and now we have to wait 1h to get in even a few hours before primetime.
Thanks for ruining our server. Now the people how got it in T1 and made it the best European server need to leave because we don’t get in any more.
You should have put 2000 gems for transfering to every server, then there couldn’t have been whole guilds coming over.

They were likely trying to entice large guilds or communities who are shopping for new homes to jump from the more populated servers.

People from low pop servers complain about not getting people, so they’re stagnant in their ranks and match ups. They get new people, increase queues, then complain about getting new people. I think transfers to medium servers is a good idea, since it encourages people who are in T1 who don’t like their server anymore to jump to a lower bracket server that really needs numbers. As for the 1h queue, I’d wait to see how that really changes. You can’t judge the past day for how it will be since lots of people who are normally casual are suddenly getting on a lot to look at the new system. So, before you start proclaiming the death of a server, just give it time, be friendly to those new people, and be glad that you’re getting new forces

I think the problem is that one of the T1 EU servers is considered ‘medium’ despite its large wvw presence. As a result, they’re getting a ton of bandwagoners who, instead of populating lower tier servers, are actually jumping from lower tiers into tier 1.

exactly dreztina, because for a good wvw server you don’t need a high populated one. A few hundred good players are enough. So we were medium populated and at the same time the best server in wvw. They should have kept the prices for t1 to t3 servers up and for the others free transfering.
And no, we won’t be friendly to the new guilds, why should we? because they want to tell of themselves that they are good because they are on a t1 server. If they really want to achieve something, they should go to a t4 server and bring it to t1 ….

Problem in NA is that tons of people will want to xfer to the top ranked T8 server (if they decide to transfer at all) and the lower ranks will suffer greatly. Unless they manage to fill both servers to the same population I doubt this will work. They need to keep free transfers open to Med pop servers as a rule if this is going to balance anything in the future.

People are assuming that the free transfers to medium servers is responsible for the huge wait times. There’s no practical incentive for guilds to transfer so it really only appeals to individual players.

The huge wait times likely have to do with more people actually participating in WvW due to the implementation of “rank” and the upcoming release of leaderboards.

Of course that’s also just an assumption, but in my opinion it’s far more likely than blaming “free server transfers”.

I have spoken to newly transferred people and they did get on sfr for free! We will NOT welcome these people we will NOT help new guilds, so please stop joining our server!

If people want to transfer to SFR it is their right to do so. They should feel free to do so.

It makes absolutely no sense to include SFR into the list of medium eu servers. This will backfire hard – low tier server will lose even more players instead of gaining new ones …

This is less about WvW and more about spreading people among the servers. Sorrow’s Furnace might not need more WvW players but apparently it could use some PvE ones.

Please stop confusing Sorrows Furnace with Seafarers Rest. Completely different servers on different sides of the world.

Don’t you guys think this points out a glaring flaw in the server transfer system? “Transfer for free, to Medium population servers, but only during off peak hours, which is when they’re medium, otherwise they’re full”. I play during peak NA hours, so I’d have to actually transfer when I don’t play the game, to play during a time when a server doesn’t have a population issue. What?

Edit – Additional thoughts …

This is really because of the disconnect between server population and WvW participation. Since server transfers mostly impact WvW, it is my opinion that High, Medium, Low populations as a determination for transfer costs should be based on the average number of players in WvW for a server rather than how many players are logged onto the server itself at a given point in time.

I even heard it happened to Piken some time before, when Anet announced transfer will cost money, guilds joined and Piken lost its niveau. Now the same is happening to SFR, we are ticking with 170 at Primetime, a few days ago, we had at least 300. Thanks Anet for not learning out of your faults. Who gets the idea to open a T1 server for everyone?

Why do you always have to ruin your good work with stuff like that?
I mean: The end of culling is great, it’s awesome, BUT what does this update help us, if we can’t play anymore because there is a 2 hour queue …
