Hello, I’m part of a WvW guild on dragonbrand, and right now we’re voting on a new server to transfer to, but the reason for that is complicated, since DB is a really great server.

The primary choices we have discussed are SoS and FA. We really don’t want to go to Mag I’m afraid, and we think that T1 servers would have too many long queues.

For those of you on SoS and FA, what are the WvW communities on those servers like, and just in general how do things on those servers operate in general? Like are people generally nice, are there lots of pugs to recruit and train? What can you guys tell me about these servers from the experiences of being there?

Actually, there are rarely any queues in T1 these days, and if there are it is usually just one map. Even this last reset in T1 servers reported problems in filling all the maps.

That being said, if you really aren’t interested in T1 [insert subliminal message]come to Tarnished Coast[/insert] then you will probably find SoS and FA sort of equal but opposite powers: SoS overpowers FA during Oceanic/SEA and FA overpowers SoS during NA.

Should prob go to SoS. FA has some queues during NA while SoS is relatively light during that time period.

Why won’t you consider Maguuma? They are a solid choice now that SoS has had some NA guilds come over and FA already has a solid NA.

no lol. guilds have been going to t2 na since season one as mentioned above. it is still t2. the servers are ruled to to speak by guilds. they will literally stop ppting if there is a chance they’ll go up, and they will only ppt if there is a chance they’ll go down.

This is indeed true.. about 2hrs into reset last week in T1 on our server, all 4 maps we were outnumbered. I have a feeling at last 2 servers from T1 will fall to T2 very shortly.

I’m in BG right now, and as others have said above, there’s almost never a queue in T1. Also, there’s plenty of fights to have here, 24/7. I’m not at home now, but I’ve an awesome screenshot of 3 simultaneous fights with a giant blob (can’t remember if it was JQ or TC) from last night. There was 3 BG’s guilds, and the enemy blob literally splited in 3 to fight each guild separately. Was glorious, like a battlefield was meant to be.

Anyway, BG or TC would be a good choice too (JQ already has a lot of people).

I just transferred to FA from DB 2 weeks ago. If you like, I would be more than happy to talk to you about my impressions, etc of both servers. Give me a shout in game – I am on most evenings or send me a message.

Both servers have a lot to offer and both would be good choices in my opinion.

if you’re a ‘good’ wvw guild, na t2 is where you’ll want to be, regardless of timezone. even if you’re a smaller guild. since t2 na is the best place to be for gvgs, there are people of all time zones that you can recruit once there as well.

FA sent 3 guilds after us pretty much the whole night, so there was a good deal of animosity towards FA when our poll went up last night.

Please come to SOS! During NA times, we get blobbed to death by other servers. We do have a lot of talented small guilds and roamers and such, who in many cases are capable of acting quicker than blobs, however in general we could use more people, especially during NA times. Also, in my experience, the queues are very small, if even existent at all. (Again, speaking in NA times, here.)

Hahahaha yeah, it was a lot of fun, way more fun than the kill shot rifle warrior squad we had a few weeks ago. We were only like 12 people, but we all had 5 minions out, so it looked like we had 72+

It’ll be kind of sad to leave DB, but I am looking forward to a change of pace. I’ve heard that SoS may become tier 1 though if enough guild transfer there… but I’m not sure if thats possible or not.

Maguuma probably needs the most people at the moment. They are good, but they have lost some people too so it would be nice to see them get some love.

We usually run 15-20 people, and yeah we run early NA/EST typically, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

FA has literally no OSX/SEA.

Please T1 ppt guilds stay on your own servers or go bandwagon some t3-t8 server.

What makes mag somewhat unique is that it is a skill group driven server. If you have a guild that likes to run tag-less, Mag is probably one of the best places to go. Guild groups, skirmishers and roamers are left alone to do what they want to do and in general nobody is scolded for it.

If you want a challenge in NA prime, go to SoS as they are light during NA prime. If you want to be one of the herd in NA Prime, go to FA.

From the point of view of anyone below T2 it does not matter where you go to, it’s a luxury problem. I understand that Maguuma is not a choice for you though. As long as no T2-population server drops down to T3 any more it’s all fine for anyone outside of your tier.

But i am not sure if it will be a good or a bad thing to see DB lose population and maybe drop out of T2 permanently, from my T3 perspective. It would stabilize T2 and 3 probably, and give both tiers better fights, but for how long…

So far we saw T1 and 2 get stacked at the expense of lower tiers, but eventually there won’t be many people left to transfer up, and one hears about growing imbalances and lacks of queues even on T1 and 2 servers…not good for WvW overall.

But, hey, chinese servers seem to have gigantic queues and i guess that’s all that matters these days, right?

Newp. That’s just wrong. Anyone who paid any attention to the SOS/MAG/FA match last week should know this. Mag and FA could both use a little more OCX/SEA against SOS’s. But we all know that a lot of OCX/SEA players left FA for Mag pre-season and FA’s OCX/SEA had to rebuild internally. The only addition has been the return of NV in OCX, but it still was a net loss for FA.

You guys missed FA’s 40-man mesmer moa zerg hunt for our former server-mates HOPE last match.

Oh god…anti HOPE night was a blast! FA has guilds that like to do that sort of thing too. I ran with a group of hammer warriors/guardians the other night too(i believe that was PRO too). Was fun, even if thats all we ran with. And I think it was PRO that ran an all asura race night a few weeks back. That was pretty funny seeing all of us with the mini golem elite skill being used, hehe.

I wont sit here and tell you to come to our server. Tho if you did….you’d be welcomed in like we have done for any guild thats come here and played an honest game.

What timezone does your guild play during?
I know FA queues 3 maps easily on weekdays during NA, so I would go with Mag or SoS if you are a NA guild. If you do play during "off hours" then FA could use your help! SoS has been night-capping all our kitten for three days, slowly catching up. Not positive about Mag’s coverage, so I won’t say anything about them.

I think you will enjoy either choice. FA “night caps” us ( SoS) at reset and we return the favor in OCX prime time ( my play hrs except weekends).

I have never transferred but my ex guildmates who went to maguuma have either returned, moved again or advised me not to try mags. This may be an indication of my playstyle and beliefs rather than mags but meh hehe.

FA won’t be “night capping” SoS at reset. Last reset was July 4th and FA has a non-US guild (CL) and non-US commander in a match with DB which notoriously has a weak NA. Of course reset was going to be skewed. The only reason some “for fights” NA guilds went to SOS was because HOPE and NS were the only “for fights” guilds there. But now EA and BMO and Syn are going there. So no, there will be no “night capping” from FA. T2 NA SOS/MAG/FA is (or should be) well balanced. Look at last week’s match.

thanks chaba , i tried to gently remind posters that the game is 24/7 and that the term night cap could equally be used for and against any time zone, with some few arguments.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. DB has a large organized SEA population. It’s either FA NA go to DB or SEA DB go to FA. Although FA has always been a T2 server.

SoS SEA is just insane with 4 large organized guilds rally everyday, although Mag can certainly put up a fight with SoS during SEA time.

Mag could use early EU/late SEA (Eastern EU if you will). Maguuma dominates late EU between Xushin and Nacho.

In all seriousness, Tyrion is intense, and he’s a kitten good Commander, arguably the best on FA. I follow him a lot and I get plenty of bags. He knows his kitten. If you are new to FA, follow him and you’ll see.
