How does one respond to a trolled upgrade that is purposely queued to undermine the efforts of the map?

Here is the scenario: The home BL garrison is taken back, and walls and gate upgrades are queued first. There is still an enemy zerg roaming around the map. Someone queues in ‘fortify keep’ instead of starting the upgrade queue for a waypoint.

“Why is this even a troll, you get a free upgrade…”

No.

What this does, is:
1. Steadily drain out supply in the garrison because of upgrades – reducing the supply depot that might be needed if the enemy zerg comes back.
2. Call havoc teams and scouts back to defend camps and escort yaks, taking them away from enemy BLs where they could have been doing more damage to PPT.
3. Deny the keep from working toward a waypoint for a VERY long time – and forcing zergs to use less efficient waypoints for map movement and coverage.
4. No cannons or oils until the upgrade is complete.

Yes, I know anyone can que upgrades and pick fortify, without the actual intent of trolling. That isn’t the issue. It was known that the player who queued in fortify, was purposely trolling. Don’t ask me who, don’t ask how this was known. No naming and shaming.

The problem – it can’t be proven. It’s not the same as siege capping. On the surface, you can’t tell the difference from someone who did it intentionally, to someone who’s new and just wanted to help out. If someone was to write a ticket, what would they say? There’s no actual way to back it up, so the troll gets off scott-free.

So um…what to do?

I’m really happy to hear the GMs are cracking down on griefers and cheaters, and I wanted them to be aware of this little issue. GMs, if it happened again, what kind of info would you be looking for to confirm this was a troll? Because we debated back and forth what to do annnnd….we came up with nothing. (Hey, escorting yaks is boring. Havoc teams needed something to talk about).

I dunno, they got more resources than the playerbase. Or maybe a patch where the third line of upgrades can’t be queued until other tiers are met? I lost count of how many times I facepalmed when a keep gets “Fortify” over “cannons.”

Yeah it happens.

The worst is when your T3 keep is under attack, needs supplies for more siege and… someone orders “hire patrol” upgrade to drain it. I have had a few situations like that.

Maybe some kind of “vote to cancel” option requiring let’s say 10 votes to do it and return supplies would work?

You call that a troll…. I call that fantasy land… Wait till a real troll comes after you.

My suggestion: There should be an activity list when you interact with the tower/keep quartermaster so that you’ll see who did what upgrade queue at what time and what guild that person is from. That way you’ll know exactly who they are, what guild they’re from (helps out with spy potential), and you can get a time stamp on when the activity was placed for record tracking.

Edit: Also, it should show how long that character has been playing the game and what level they are. Knowing the combination of level, guild affiliation, time stamp, age of character, and activity will help sort out of that person is a legitimate one versus a troll character.

get rid of upgrades, have things start out T2, call it good, move on to fighting.

Last time I checked, the waypoint upgrade uses supplies aswell…

In most cases I find, it’s down to personal preference… I too would start fortify before waypoint, but then again I have no issues with applying swiftness and going for 10s AUTOrun

You think that’s trolling? We had someone drain our home BL garrison of supply during a siege building 30 flame rams last month.

As I understand it, it’s getting in fashion to have alternate accounts for retaliation purposes (they order guards during an attack and you drop 6 of their omegas off a cliff, for example). Definitely not a good thing as this can easily get out of hand… but players feel like there is no other recourse (which is pretty much true).

The downfall of 9.99 accounts – how many were new players? How many were existing that just wanted an option to play on other servers if in a bad match? How many were troll/spy accounts?

Only thing you can do, other then reporting if you believe it to be trolling behavior, is to try to ensure the upgrades are completed and supply is constantly coming in. There is also the issue if there is supply trolling. I have a friend on TC, who was telling me about watching today as some troll guild wasted their entire upgraded supply in 20 minutes building useless siege, a bunch of trebs while their bl was being attacked. Just shameful and pathetic behavior, and I hope TC can get those trolls banned.
