Trouble in the borderlands
They either don’t like quitters, enjoy a challenge, or had a different perspective on the situation.
*we’re
My question is: what’s wrong with you for complaining about peoples’ attitudes on a forum for game discussion? I don’t intend offense, but this is completely unrelated to everything that these forums exist for. I hope you figure it out and calm down and maybe look at it from a different angle next time.
First off, how about accepting that there can be typos, nobody’s perfect. Secondly, people should be allowed to mention their opinion without the others being kitten over it. And maybe some people should look up what a “Troll” is, before calling bullkitten on others.
It isn’t new to me, that people think that no matter what, they are right. I personally think, in Kuro’s situation I would have said the same – rather retreating for a later attack, than blindly running into the crowd and dying.
Well, some of us seem to like the “Throw people at the enemies till they die!” strategy more than the thoughtful “Let’s think before we start kitten.”
How did you phrase your suggestion. I have been on TC for a long time now and have never seen anything like this happen. Usually when our guild is on the map we take suggestions and decide what would be best. If we are banging our head against the wall then we move. If you were in TCBL and made that suggestion it may have been taken the wrong way, people will try over and over again on our home BL because we do not like to lose it. If it was on another BL than I am not sure what the issue was as I was not there.

I said ‘’Maybe we should leave EB, try our luck elsewhere’’ something along those lines, I really dont remember.
@Rising Dusk I am perfectly calm, I think I am allowed to talk about this, since there’s no report option called ’’bullkitten’’
@Kincaidia a quitter wouldn’t have suggested a different option, would you mindlessly bash your skull against a foe in real life if you could win by going around him and stabbing him in the back? we could’ve easily taken their borderland stuff by suprise.
@Chuo I rp alot, but nobody did in WvW.
please don’t get me wrong, I am not annihilating the fact that I could’ve been taken wrong, I just want to point out that perhaps automatically calling down the guns on someone who may just be trying to help is a bit overboard.. your supposed to assume someone means good, not wrong.

@Kuro Zetsumei Well, you did the right thing imo – suggesting a new strategy is perfectly fine – and shouldn’t be punished by hate barrage
I think they were just very very upset that they got roflstomped and some people are not very nice when they’re upset. I got trash talked because I didn’t want to repeatedly rush with three people into a 20 people zerg spawn camping us in EB once. It happens, not everyone is like that and basically the fact that some of them put you on ignore simply saved you the effort of ignoring them yourself later on.

honestly, I wasn’t really concerned about them ignoring me, the Commander was a huge kitten, didn’t take an suggestion from anyone.

I don’t play on EB much and there are a few good guilds that pretty much do nothing but run EB. They may have been offended by the idea of leaving. Either way if what you say is true and you just made a suggestion it is unfortunate that you were treated that way. I don’t know if you are new to the server/game but this is not representative of what WvW normally is like on TC. Unfortunately we do have some regular trolls in WvW but I haven’t seen them much lately.

oh, I really don’t look down on the TC community for this in all, I completely agree that my suggestion could’ve been taken wrong, I am more worried about this becoming a common thing really.
I’ve noticed, across MMOs, that PvP chat can descend into pandemonium a lot quicker than PvE chat.
I joined a WvW last night, asked where the action was and got flamed by a couple of guys saying “We could have done with some help 10 F*n minutes ago!” This is clearly just people being oversensitive due to a stomping but the point I’m making is that PvP induces these sensitive feelings…
PvP/WvW chat can be very volatile and I have just accepted that sometimes this happens… as frustrating as it is.
suppose I can’t say your wrong there, its just upsetting when all you want to do is help and get instagibbed by a hate barrage, how does that help their case?
they actually complained about no teamplay later, no suprise there I suppose.
(sorry if this is in the wrong location.)
if we don’t agree with what people say, on Tarnished Coast, we got rushed by like an entire server we lost EVERYTHING so, I thought maybe JUST maybe, we should try our luck elsewhere(meaning a borderland or something). I know, stupid right? suggesting something?
cause I instantly got a flame barrage of bullkitten directed at me and moments later I was declared a troll for voicing my opinion, next time I’ll fill in a form and ask if I could please be allowed to say something, I got instant ignored and all that nonesense, normally I wouldn’t care, but this was like.. I didn’t get a SINGLE sensible answer, just flame, had they said ‘’nah we’ll be fine here’’ or ‘’we can win’’ I would’ve shutup and helped but they instantly went ‘’Why don’t you leave noob?‘’ and ’’ignore the troll’’(that’s ignoring the actual trash talk) someone should really write a long wiki to explain to these people what a troll is.
my question being, WTF is wrong with you people?
People don’t like it when people complain in /shout or /team since that is usually reserved for the commander to give directions or others to talk about things relevant to the fight rather than just complaining.
Additional comments from people that’s not that commander adds to confusion and misdirection and causes problems.
And if you are the commander, complaining instead of actually working around the situation or finding a solution just makes things worse.
You don’t like something, then you are free to leave and go elsewhere. The additional complaining in /shout and/or /team is not helpful and it’s not surprising people blocked you.
FYI, for future reference. If you are getting steamrolled switching borderlands is not going to help, since they can switch as well and steamroll you on whatever borderlands you decide to switch to.
(edited by DeathPanel.8362)
Sorry but I disagree with you DeathPanel – Teamplay isn’t about “One team – everyone shuts up except the leader”. So basically – I call bullkitten on what you just said.
You are just the perfect example how unpolite people lower the reputation of TC in general. EVERYONE can make a game-deciding suggestion, only closed up minds think “Oh we must blindly follow the Commander!”
Thank you – I rather think you should leave for another server, cause THAT behavior you encourage there, is downstraight embarassing and sickening.
They were mad and took it out on you. Gotta love the internets. I’d love to see that chat log though
if I complained I would’ve agreed, yet if you had read what I said, you’d know I didn’t. Plus, the commander was the one crying about no teamwork but in the meantime kept shunning everyone.
FYI, for future reference. If you are getting steamrolled switching borderlands is not going to help, since they can switch as well and steamroll you on whatever borderlands you decide to switch to.
This is not necessarily true. We have left a bl to go to another one and left a crew at the original BL. We started taking things on the servers home bl and some of them moved to stop us. This left the original BL much easier to deal with.
This can be a good tactic if done right.

Wrong.
WVW about coordination, and coordination is impossible with everyone and their uncle having their own say on what to do in /shout or /team.
All that would do is cause people to be confused and break up the limited coordination that exists as it is.
I’ve done nothing but state facts as they are. Just because you don’t agree doesn’t mean it’s “unpolite”. It’s in fact rather “unpolite” of you to make all these ridiculous and baseless assumptions about me.
No, WvW might be about coordination – but it is NOT alright to hate barrage on someone who throws in a good idea. If people cannot understand that, they will always lose on team-based games. Coordination doesn’t mean to exclude everyone from trying to help with the strategy – if you want that, then play some RTS game. But not a MMO.
Also I have to excuse, but I am not unpolite – I simply find it sickening how the hate barrage would just roll into this topic aswell. And as long as I’m around, I will defy any unreasonable comment – I know what teamplay is about. I know how to play as a team. Ever heard the phrase “There is no ‘I’ in the word Team”? That also applies to WvW and the Commander. Thank you.

Not correct.
If you are already massively disadvantaged leaving a “crew” behind in the original BL would not make things easier even if they split up their forces to stop you in the new BL since your crew left over is still a far smaller force and wouldn’t be able to really make any difference.
The only way that would make a difference is if they miscalculated and left a far bigger force in the original BL while your crew in the original BL does hit and run on supply depots and other objectives while moving a smaller force to try to stop you in the new BL.
What it really comes down to is raw concentration of force.
the raw concetration of force was the reason we lost the entire EB, they devided us, cut is off at the spawn and wrecked our keep, we in the meantime only defended Anza which was under consistent siege.
we had nothing to lose by trying to divert their forces to the other borderlands, cause we didn’t even have a supply post left.
But its not even about my plan being good or bad, for me the it was all about the beyond appropriate reactions I got for throwing out my 2 cents and give a suggestion.
if we all start doing this, we’ll go back to beating our heads mindlessly on the SM gates because the glorified thug who purchased commander instantly reserves all right for speech.

You seem to not grasp the fact that things don’t just happen in a vacuum. People don’t just “hate barrage” others because they “had a good idea”.
What most likely really happened is the OP tried to give a bunch of contradictory and bad advice in /shout or /team against the commander and continued to spam /shout or /team until the whole map blocked him.
It always sounds rosy when they are the ones presenting the story from only their side.
You obviously have very little experience in WVW since you don’t understand the damage that can be done to coordination by trolls and other back seat commanders(people with no commander tag but still spamming orders) who spam /shout or /team thinking they had a “great idea” when in reality it’s terrible.

The main problem is I don’t buy your story. The whole zone does not simply just “hate barrage” and block one person for “having a good idea”.
It’s always everyone elses fault when I see complaint posts like this. Maybe you should reflect on what you did and figure out why it is that everyone else but you thought your idea was great.
honestly, I wasn’t really concerned about them ignoring me, the Commander was a huge kitten, didn’t take an suggestion from anyone.
Do you remember who the Commander was?
Oolune :: Engineer — Arrow Of Oolune :: Human Ranger -- Shadow Of Oolune :: Human Thief
Box The Turtle :: Human Warrior — Bolobuns Of Steel :: Human Guardian
oh, nice assumption jumping there, I’d hate to inform you however, that I suggested it ONCE and got the hate barrage right after, had I spammed I would’ve agreed.
but from what you say its clear and evident your a close minded person, you complain about Inu being unpolite for judging you, yet here you go doing it yourself.
do your self a favor and just shut up.
@Oolune yes, but I don’t think spreading his name on the forums is something Anet will be happy with.
Fair enough. I just know a certain Commander who I could see responding like this. Was wondering if it was him.
Oolune :: Engineer — Arrow Of Oolune :: Human Ranger -- Shadow Of Oolune :: Human Thief
Box The Turtle :: Human Warrior — Bolobuns Of Steel :: Human Guardian
@Kuro Zetsumei Well, some people just love to look for a fight. Maybe my experience with WvW is not that high – but I probably played more teambased games than that guy. I dont bother with arguing with him anymore – some people are just too closed up I guess XD

I just simply stated I don’t buy your story. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
To claim that the whole map just hate barraged you and blocked you after you only “suggested it ONCE” is extraordinary.
And I see you’ve shown your true colors by telling me to “shut up”. Obviously only your words count and the moment someone else suggests an alternative to your little story you HATE BARRAGE them and try to shut them up.
That’s called hypocrisy.

How laughable that you are now jumping to all sorts of conclusions.
On what grounds do you claim that you played more teambased games than me? You know absolutely nothing about my experience.
Yet you accuse me of making assumptions and being closed up?
Projection 101.
DeathPanel, obviously nobody in this topic agrees with you. You seem to like to fight on lost ground? Just do yourself a favor – nobody wants to hear you trying to outsmart everyone (which you fail on massively). And true colors? Of course you get annoyed by someone who is like, a huge smartass, excuse the harsh language. Kuro talked to all these people all normal – untill you started with your bigmouthing in here.
It’s not being a hypocrite, it’s disliking the kind of people who think they are smarter than the majority

your kidding? right?
you dont ’’buy’’ my story, because your just as close minded as the commander was, you automatically assume the entire server ignored me(which isn’t true) you automatically assume that I spammed the entire chat while I’ve agreed several times before that my suggestion could’ve been taken wrong. Had you read, this all could’ve been avoided, hence rather then picking a hopeless fight I figured it may be better for you to just shut up, your opinion is fine by me, but your being biased, assuming all sorts of things and then claiming them as fact.
in short, I told you to shut up because I don’t feel like starting an argument on this forum, thanks.

What it really comes down to is raw concentration of force.
We have been outmanned numerous times in TCBL, left a large force there and sent another force to another BL to start taking objectives, usually the ones we know will kitten them off the most. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. quite a few times it has lightened the pressure enough to allow us to get a foothold on our home bl and start defending sieging up.
I would say this is a fair tactic to suggest. It was obviously taken the wrong way by the commander on that map.
