WvW just isnt fun when playing constantly on outmanned servers.

How about when situations like this happen, you turn WvW into a 2 faction mode instead of 3 factions. because these smaller worlds simply dont have the WvW numbers to have any decent fun anymore.

So instead of getting some relief due to the other server attacking the steamrolling server you would rather be steamrolled without any chance of relief?

That would mean that you have no chance of getting relief from a third server when you are getting stomped.

This would not only worsen the blowout-aspect, it would give the weaker server not even a reason to log in anymore after the first night. In 3-way fight the weaker servers atleast can hope to dog it out under themselves for place 2.

How about servers that are about even strength-wise, say Kodash, Augury Rock and Riverside still get 1v1v1 matchups, but servers that are obviously outgunned, like Elona and Augury vs Vizu, start out as 2v1s, determined by glicko.

No.
When population is low, it becomes a two faction fight, as in 2 of the lower population servers merge in WvW against the larger server.

The servers have learned how to work within itself. Suddenly adding loads of new people that play in a completely different way would lead to rather major issues.

The servers have learned how to work within itself. Suddenly adding loads of new people that play in a completely different way would lead to rather major issues.

that would still give them better chance to fight and have fun than playing outmanned 24/7.

This would be a much stronger enemy. The two smaller servers would not be going after each other for 2nd instead focusing their energy on the 1st place server. We have seen a handful of 2nd/3rd place alliances before and they do work.

I am not sure of the logistics of it all but a forced alliance would make for a far more competitive match in blowout situations… which is pretty much every match in Silver league right now.

I thought of something similar some time ago. Problem is when you have a fairly balanced match up it is a punishment for being in 1st, maybe if it was done if the score gap reached a certain level then that idea would take effect.

Aside from all the other reasons why this is a bad idea, it’s also not possible to do from a server architecture standpoint with how Anet has WvW set up.

Another Summary: Good idea, impossible to implement as stated, needs adjusting.

Clearly unbalanced matches are not as fun as balanced ones. The more unbalanced it is, the worse.

Example (at any given time):
Server A pop: 350
Server B pop: 175
Server C pop: 125

As it is now, Server A outnumbers both servers combined. But it is actually much worse than that because Server B and C continue to fight each other so from Server C’s perspective it is 525 vs. 125. The enemy has 4 times the population! Why bother, I’ll just log off/PvE whatever.

However, if Server B and C would stop fighting each other long enough, they could make it a more manageable 350 to 300.

This doesn’t happen now for various reasons. So it needs to be incentivized. The question is how to incentivize it.

I already suggested this idea about 7-8 months ago, took 3 hours to properly come up with every possible reason why it would be a bad idea or any problems involved, and people hated it then, so they’re still going to hate it now.

P.S. In reference to the implementation, I had already solved that issue as well, so it is possible, you guys are just not seeing it in the proper perspective.

I like the idea. It could at least make late week WvW fun.

You could change the green team to yellow, then you could merge the colors when the teams joined up (red and yellow would be orange team, red and blue would be purple team, yellow and blue would make green team).
