I’m a commander from Ring of Fire server. Only 2 hours after the reset we had already almost fulled the WvW maps. How are we supposed to spend a week against those servers? This is not WvW and there’s no point on playing a whole week. That’s not a good start for new matchup system.

There will likely be a few weeks for things to stabilized. Also keep in mind that things can change when your weekend warriors go to bed.

also, everyone is gonna try it on the first day…cmon

Hum I wonder what would happen when players start with this attitude of “what is the point of playing” with the new system. Then surprisingly land up with 2nt place because they ignored the other two servers.

If the new system is getting people interested, ill say this is a perfect start for the new matchup system.

I think that has a lot to do with it. Every time a major change happens in WvW, there’s tons more turnout at first. Then those people quit caring because it’s not the weekend anymore.

Considering the hilarity of having players from multiple servers on the same side and maps as evidenced by screenshots galore.

Is it possible ROF is just the temporary beneficiary of a completely borked player distribution algo that her opponents have the pleasure of being acquainted with?

I wouldn’t read too much into this week’s matchups, even less so the reset results considering the obvious implementation issues present.

Well do Fissure of Woe and Vabbi a favour and quit playing for a week. We would appreciate the experience. Otherwise I hope green is your colour because you will see a lot of it over the next few days.
Transferring to Fissure of Woe / Vabbi with your entire guild would be an option as well of course.

Not quite 24/7, but yeah, most of the time Green is ticking 500+.

I have no reason to play guild wars 2 now. I dont want to level, i dont want to do dungeons, i DONT want to do anything associated with PvE at all since i hate it. I am sitting here, switching borderlands and EB waiting till i finally see my very first Vabbi or fissue of woe enemy.

Please explain how WE, while completely holding EB and a borderland against Arborstone AND Whiteside ridge for almost a whole week, got put in this lowest tier.

Even without our weekend warriors they are no match. Do they even have anything at all?

Wording arrangement was horrible. I fixed it. It is also important to keep in mind. Unlike NA EU has some lower overall population servers.

This scenario has been happening in T9 in EU for months now. This new matchup system should cause more rotation in and out of T9 than previously occurred. The real issue here is that Fissure of Woe and Vabbi are usually facing this sort of problem.

May I advice to give 100 free transfer slot on Vabbi and Fissure of Woe to repopulate it. I don’t think people would like to transfer paying and may be failing the server rebirth. Or do something to convince people transfer to those T9 servers

I have heard there are some harpies, scritt and centaurs to kill. They are feeling so ignored otherwise.

The attitude that we should accept this, because “it´s only a week, chill out” and other comments of that sort is just hilarious…

Why should we accept a kitten-up like this?

The short answer: every week, somebody has to play against Fissure of Woe and Vabbi. Whoever it is, they are probably going to win by a lot.

This week it’s you. Next week it will probably be somebody else.

The advantage of the new system is, one server is no longer stuck playing those two every single week.

I understand that from your perspective, Blacktide having to play them every week is better than you having to play them just once, but that’s not a good outcome for Blacktide — they deserve to play somebody else from time to time. And when they do, somebody else has to play FoW and Vabbi instead.

Field some new commanders – it takes a lot of the pressure off if you know you’re not going to win anyway and so it’s safe to fail. Try out that new tactic that you’ve always wanted to mess with but haven’t dared. Level your alts for free – if you’re constantly outmanned, there won’t be any gear repair fees! Farm the grub or the tree spirit in EB just because. Take it as a vacation.

I feel your pain, Ring of Fire folks. I’m from Sorrow’s Furnace, we were in the North American tier 8 (the very bottom) for months. Now, a big part of it was that we lost hard for a while, and our rating dropped like a rock. But then we got our act together, and we started stomping the other tier 8 servers.

And kept stomping them week after week after week after week…

The problem was that there was a substantial gap between us and tier 7, and at the time, tier 7 was clustered pretty close together. The servers kept changing positions, they were so close; and that stopped them from falling within striking distance of us. And so we were stuck in tier 8, because the way the Glicko ratings work, to increase our rating we not only had to beat the other servers in our tier, we had to beat them by more than we did the previous week.

So yeah, you’re gonna have a boring week. Cheer up, though – at least it’s only one week for you.

Look at how low those server’s rating are. They have NO ONE. Someone has to fight the two servers with no wvw presence at all. Its just your turn this week.

Arborstone got a higher tier than us, doesn’t make any sense.
That’s the main reason why RoF is mad about it, not because we ended in tier 9, but because we don’t know how we got there

If the devs could only give us a detailed explanation on how we ended in tier 9…

You drew a random number, that’s how.

If you guys truly destroy them, as in they tick at 0 ppt 12 hour of 24 hours and 10 the other 12, then your rating will go up, there’s will go down, and you’ll have a lower probability of playing against them in the future.

Whoever loses the most rating in the Tier above you will have the highest chance of facing them next week.

Seems you do have motivation, not to face them again. The more rating you can stuff between your servers, the less chance that has of happening again.

You rolled a 1. That’s how you ended up in tier 9.

Where are al those ppl who said “Screw balanced matches, we want variety!” now.

Well why should we at Blacktide, after beating FoW and Vabbi like this every week for ages, have to stay in tier 9? Maybe we are better than you. Maybe not. Time will tell now, instead of before when we had no chance to try.

If you want more intersting matchups just try to increase the ranking of your servers …

We didn’t deserve this match up. RoF has won the last couple of weeks by a good margin and we’ve gained server score too. If anything we should be playing where Arborstone is.

Why in hell are we sitting in the trashcan?

Consider that you are a chess player: you will sometimes be matched against weaker players. You’re expected to win. If you draw, your rating will decline. When you get matched against a higher rated player, fight your best for a draw—you might not win but you can still gain rating.

It’s always the same in T9, mostly Arbor and Blacktide to dominate the matchup.
Now it hits RoF.. there’s nothing you can do. Green server always ticks with 500+

Really feel sad for Vabbi and FoW :/
Something has to be done on those Servers.

Sitkaz, here on RoF, we’ve been placed against Blacktide 4 times, each of which we finished over 100,000 points ahead of Blacktide, we won ALL of them and finished 2 of them close to 350,000 points. Point proven?

Away from server rivalry, here on RoF we’ve just crushed WsR and Arb for the past two weeks and looking forward to a harder matchup maybe against Dzag (who we’ve fought many a time and enjoy fighting despite their questionable tactics) or RoS because while we are only ever fighting for 2nd place, we play strategic/tactical servers and so it’s fun. We weren’t expecting to be dropped into Tier 9 by the randomiser after crushing Tier 8.

Although, to be fair, in the long term when these stabilise a bit more, it should be fun because we’ve just had some very stale matchups and Vabbi/Fissure of Woe never get any chance of winning or an interesting matchup…

But we know there is no way they can make the servers fair, if we weren’t with FoW we’d have 2 zergs taking our stuff, i’ve gotten used too FoW they are like our slightly bigger brother! One day we may stand a chance but until then we’ll continue too have fun trying our hardest

I’m on FoW and yes we do face this problem, so too help us out and keep people playing wvw (Which we desperately need) wouldn’t it be a better idea to put us against a server which wasn’t ‘Very High’ population?? Both Us and Vabbi are Medium, so wouldnt it make sense to put us against a Medium server?

Then it’ll be a case of skill instead of numbers
