Guild Wars 2

I remember Anet stating that WvW would be fought over a 2 week period. However the last time i remember reading anything about it was when they moved us from 3 day matches to week long matchups. They said that once the tiers stabilise they would bring in the 2 week long matchups.
I’m not qqing or anything just wondering whether it’s still Anets plan to have 2 week matchups or whether it’s going to stay at week long ones now.

A comment about it from an Anet guy would be nice(good or bad, i’m just curious). Now you good folks can all discuss the merits of extending matchups to 2 weeks and how bad it would make things.

I think they thought that matches would be a little closer than what the currently are. Don’t expect this change any time soon.

Hey, I remember you scarlet from our match up thread <3. Put it this way, you got us, deso, for two weeks with one week each. Do you really want us for a month?

If it happens it happens, but just remember your bromance with viz is far from over. 2 weeks with them at a time, yeah i can see downsides to it but wonder if it might get the guilds/people to spread out more.

Unlikely that many guilds would choose to do so unless they were able to transfer for free, but then we’d be back where we started in late 2012 :-)

I get the sentiment as far as sever stacking goes, and I do agree that it would be nice to have a chance to face ALL the servers rather than the 3-4 that each server commonly encounters. However I don’t see how it could be done outside of having a system where guilds would sign up and ANET would choose a server for them and put them there for free. Even then, I feel like such a system would have limited success.

Of course they are planning something BIIIIG. but for PvE not WvW. Too bad.

Anet already confirmed that the matches will continue to last 1 week.

Do you mind finding a link for that, as i said i don’t remember it being mentioned but then i might have missed it. Did they actually give any reasoning behind why they wont be introducing 2 week matchups?

Why would you even want 2 week long matches? The score is almost always determined on 1st day, and only rarely do places change during the week. And even in the case of the close matches, the close match is only between 2 of the 3 servers, the 3rd is always far behind – would not be fair towards that server to keep punishing it for another week. ANet wanted 2 week long matches, then they saw it is not realistic, and ditched the idea, simple as that.

As i said i’m not pushing for them, i was just curious as to the reasons why Anet seem to have given up on that idea.

I don’t know if ANet has to explain WHY they did away with the two week match up. I mean, seriously, does it need to be explained why especially since many have already posted some of the more obvious reasons above? I thought it was just kind of common sense, even when they first announced it, that two weeks was just WAY too freaking long.

The weeklies aren’t bad, but I do wish they shorted the scoring cycle again, like during beta… where you score once per 6 minutes or something that wasn’t once every 15 minutes. In this way, smaller objectives seemed more… worth it, vs. flip wars.
