Upcoming WvW Updates:
I can’t help but notice the timing of this delay. correct me if i am wrong but Anet just reset the WvW ranking and they expect it to take about a month to clean up through matches. if they released the new player ranking progression the it would be all jacked up from the up coming server blowouts that are totally expected. no excuse but I think that’s the real reason for the delay.
on a side note I think us WvW players would like to be rewarded with loot equal to the loot received by our pve counterparts. We just want a fair deal our effort and time is just as important and we deserve to be rewarded appropriately.

entitled whining mkay. I admit I ripped on whiners in past games but people have every right to complain here. Anet assured people wvw was a priority and people paid based on that. We have had no updates to a broken wvw which has even had key features disabled (orbs).
Well it is disappointing, really.
Anet spent this 6 months basically all for PvE stuffs, like Halloween the Wintersday and the full-grind Fractal dungeon… and did really a few or basically nothing for WWW.
Lot of runes/skill/traits are still bugged.
Quees are worst than ever.
Culling still persist.
My pc drops from 60 stable fps maxed setting to 15-20 fps in 50vs50 www fights.
Now we have to wait 1 more month, and for what?
Who cares of stuffs like the new personal ranking when i can t even understand what s going on around..
Who cares of new skills based on the www personal rank if there are still lots of skills/traits/runes that doesn t work from the realese..
No but, GG.
We aint alfa testers, we pay for a game and we expect a working one. It s simple.
Well i hope u guys fix whole stuff for the real coz i got kitten of the situation.
Otherwise is simple Gw2 not the only game outta here.

A good and much needed addition to WvWvW, imo, being able to form raid groups instead of just single 5 player teams. This is GuildWars not 5 man team wars.
Simplest solution is allow commander and squads to flag as /private. Use the existing commander and squad system but turn the pin off so ONLY the people currently in the squad can see it. This would avoid the headaches of multiple pins running everywhere and people would actually use it more for their guild groups as it doesn’t interfere with those commanders leading the zone.
Unfortunately they have no plans to address this anytime soon.
Good to see communication, bad news is better than no news.
So the “major” wvw update consists of:
-Progressions system (rank titles that go underneath your name most likely, like the ones that exist for pvp/pve)
-Abilities/bonuses tied to these ranks. (If I wanted new abilities I’d roll an alt.)
And that’s it.
This type of basic reward is not going to help people enjoy wvw more. There are many posts on this forum suggesting what will, though.
Arenanet: We delayed the patch AND it has numerous bugs still, and is far less than initially promised
Players: Can we whine now, or should we still act like we didn’t pay for the game?
I sometimes forget how valuable whining is in the bug fixing procedure. It really accomplishes a lot.
Honestly, once a bug is reported, continuing to complain about it is counter-productive. The people working on the game aren’t sitting around twiddling their thumbs, they’re doing their best to fix bugs, and whining about it still being broken won’t get it fixed any faster.
Enjoy the game you have, or don’t play it. (Constructive feedback is not whining)
I am disappointed that wvw changes are getting pushed back a month but at the same time I would rather it work when released then have it shoved out the door to appease the people who can’t wait.
As for ESO, so what. People saying eso will kill gw2 will be on the eso boards sayin CU will kill eso. It’s the same thing on all the time with every game.
I’m following CU and TESO, and I don’t think GW2 has much to worry about (provided they give WvW the attention it needs).
Camelot Unchained will probably end up with a toxic community like Eve Online in my opinion. It’s only going to be RvR with no PvE area. You aren’t going to get the socializing PvE type who takes the edge off a pure PvP community. At least on my server (Tarnished Coast), GW2 WvW has the best PvP community I’ve ever seen for this reason.
People are also saying TESO will eat GW2’s lunch, but I’m doubtful. Faction lock is going to fragment the community. Also their single shard technology is also going prevent WvW server communities growing up like they have in GW2. The only place where TESO will do better is the huge size of its WvW map.
GW2 WvW is still the best there is. And I will say, at least for myself and our guild, it has hit a sweet spot. There are still problems like too much zerging and small maps, but when we all get together to play, it’s pure fun.
Key indicator for me if they’re remotely in touch with their playerbase is whether we get a proper thief nerf in wvw.
Proper – not tickle one rarely used ability down by 2% but proper reducing godmode down to normal levels.

Wait a minute. Someone actually said ESO is gonna kill gw2, a game that only has you paying once and play for forever? lol.

@Colin or anyone:
Has there been any discussion or statement concerning the WvW progression abilities/reward? Will they be stat increasing in nature? Or mostly cosmetic?
You can understand that a lot of people do not like the direction of feeling cornered to do an activity for endless amounts of time(grinding?) just to stay on par with the latest gear(and it sounds like the latest skills as well). I like WvW. I am in it several times a week, probably for a total of 5-10 hours at themoment. I dont want to feel obligated to increase that to 20, effectively maxing out my time, to get those WvW abilities that may tip a 1v1 or 2v1 battle in my favor. You’ll be taking me out of PvE content that I enjoy, just to keep up with the next guy.
I dont want to log in some night and suddenly everyone has the first or second round of new skills…I jump down from a cliff, and I see some guardian run up to me and C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!!!! Im dead
Thoughts? Confirmations?

How about allowing the option to show your name?
It’s nice, but it’s not finished. allow player names, and you’re as close to DAOC as you’ve come.. or at least allow when you target someone it says their name in your chat window like it did in daoc….
As a reminder for everyone posting on this thread, please post your opinions in a respectful, constructive way. We understand that the information that Colin provided was disappointing, but please be responsible and express your disappointment in a mature, respectful fashion. Lashing out and posting inflammatory statements doesn’t create a productive atmosphere in our community.
I think the main issue, at least for me and a lot of people I know is the impression Anet are creating of not listening to WvW players concerns still less prioritising accordingly.
For a lot of people the queueing bug (or feature) has a substantial impact.
If you only have 3-4hrs in which to play, losing half of it to a queue (or all of it if you d/c or crash) is rapidly going to result in finding some other way to spend your time.
It’s pretty clear that this problem is affecting high and low population servers and it’s a severe enough issue that I would expect Anet to be prioritising it over everything else, even culling and certainly over adding more PvE, grind and meaningless vanity stuff.
This thread would have been a perfect opportunity to show WvW players that Anet were actually listening to their concerns and were prioritising sensibly to address them.

It is not affecting my server at all. I have had zero queue times since coming back go GW2. Come to Storm Bluff Isle for no wait time at all in WvWvW.
Plenty of people on low-pop servers having severe queue issues since 28th patch.
See this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/WvWvW-Queues-issue-Merged-Threads/
One can live with culling and wait for the patch (although culling is also worse since 28th according to a majority of people who voted in the poll)
People who can only play for a few hours and those at peak times can’t live with queues that eat up most of their available time though.
So a fix is much more urgently needed.
(edited by Shivva.1904)
Queues can be fixed by allowing “free” transfers off key servers (wvw queue an hour plus peak times) to select servers (no queue peak time).
Anything else should cost gems.
Also we need the orbs back in the border keeps, they still need to be powerful to own and they need to be hard to get requiring a organized group of people (30+) to get. Then you should need to return it to an area near you down keep. Porting and shadow stepping should make you drop the orb. Obvisouly the maps would need to change to make this happen but since the maps are already being worked on I thought I would put it out there.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!

Any chance this update can make it so that its more worth it to get badges from actually doing WvW and not just going to a stinking jumping puzzle? Please? [sad but hopeful kitty face]

I’d say they are lying, frankly. I am on a low pop server and there are zero queues at any time of the day. My evidence is just as good as anyone’s in that thread supposedly from a low pop server.
Sigh. Why is WvW something that seems to get all the attention of a disgraced family member no one talks about. With two accounts I’m a member of several guilds that are solely WvW focused – and there are tons of WvW guilds out there.
Since the last culling change (a nightmare for approx 75% of guild members I play with) we are logging on less, playing less and (crucially?) spending less in the gem shop. Many of us were just hanging on with the hope February would be an improvement but already our numbers are falling dramatically.
Whole guilds in alliances just aren’t logging on any more. Since the recent culling “change” (read: disaster) we average 10 players per night at peak instead of 25.
WvW costs more gold and delivers FAR less reward than PvE. If I spend 3 – 4 hours in PVE running dungeons, fractals or Orr farming I’m likely to be 6 or 7 gold better off without even trying. But guess what, I don’t WANT to PVE and I was told I wouldn’t have to. Except I forgot, there is still gear I can only get from PVE that regardless of the stats is STILL an advantage.
WvWvW has had nothing in any update except a breakout event (waste of developer time in most serious wvw players opinions), some cosmetic changes to BLs and hey, guess what, sometimes a siege weapon will shoot a gift package or fire a candy cane! On the flip side we’ve had fairly major content and functionality reduced (orbs).
They have yet to even ADDRESS the reduced numbers in WvW borders where even tier 5 servers are getting queues of up to an hour at peak, 2 or more hours for EB. And these queues are despite numbers falling – there just isn’t the same capacity on the maps anymore. Yes I understand top tier servers are seeing queues because of transfer, but I don’t play on top tier servers.
No comment either on how many of us are experiencing worse culling since the changes. I’d live with “it is a necessery step to better culling in the future” or similar, but the feedback to the week long test was largely negative and from my own experience along with guild mates on several servers the recent change is just as bad.
Yes I don’t pay a sub but I do support the developers and buy a lot of gems (I only do WvWvW, I pretty much NEED to buy gems and convert to gold if I want to be able to buy anything).
Looks like too little too late Arenanet. I had high hopes, now all I hope is I get in the ESO beta.
Please understand that WvW is not being “neglected” for other parts of the game. We have different teams that work on different content. WvW has a dedicated team that is committed to bringing the best WvW improvements that they are able. In cases such as this one, this sometimes means pushing back releases in order to ensure proper time is given to polish and bug-fixes.
That said, I believe this thread has run its course. Current discussion has run either in circles or off-course and many of the topic being discussed either have existing threads to on the same topic, or should be posted in new threads.
