*Note, the large change to Eredon’s Terrace and Ferguson’s Crossing is due to us manually adjusting their ratings up by 300 before the conclusion of the previous match. Thus they actually dropped about 35 from that adjustment after the match concluded.

That wouldn’t make sense because whoever got to the top of T8 would be stuck in the hole just like SF.

It would have made more sense to just switch Sorrow’s Furnace and Gate of Madness manually. Now you have 600 extra rating points floating around. 24 × 1500 + 600.

Are you going to subtract 600 some day?

That wouldn’t make sense because whoever got to the top of T8 would be stuck in the hole just like SF.

Adding 600 points doesn’t work in the long run either. The 2 losing servers will still get their points drained and when the winning server moves up again they take all those points with them. The loser from T7 will bring less points to T8. And then ArenaNet will have to add 600 more points again some other day.

Yes, the best course of action was a band-aid solution while they study the rating system to find a better fix, and you know why? Because having SF stuck in T8 for idk how much longer wouldnt bring benefit to anyone.
Honestly can’t understand why so much crying over a band-aid solution that is not affecting anyone in a bad way….

Its really not fine though. This is why i’m such a strong advocate of allowing more mobility between the tiers. Problems with a matchup exacerbate when servers are locked together.

Look at the first week Sorrow’s Furnace was in T8. http://mos.millenium.org/matchups/history/16#na

The most balanced matchup of the week. Some thought T8 was finally where it needed to be and could just stay that way and be fun for all indefinitely.

it ended 211k 215k and 189k. a fairly OK matchup compared to what it eventually became.

SF had more points than ET and FC combined for about 10 consecutive weeks. I don’t understand what you think is balanced about that.

I’d also like to point out that we’re now halfway through the current match and SF is winning in tier 7. GoM, on the other hand, is currently in second place in tier 8, although its a close match (which is good).

i was speaking generally, and i’m talking about this weeks T8 scores thus far.

This is true!

I will wager the same thing will occur with or without free transfers. In 6 weeks maybe we will see!

My hypothesis is:

Players dislike playing games they cannot win.
Players will stop playing games they dislike at a greater rate than players who are winning a game.


Perhaps time will tell.
