What if camps could have upgraded walls? Not extremely strong walls, but walls that can give it a bit of extra defense, like the wall I linked, with a gate made of same material. What do you guys think of that?

No. There’s already little enough that small groups or solo players can contribute without needing even more things to stall them.

A party taking the camp would still be viable. A lone player should honestly not be allowed to take a camp themselves by stacking behind a house and pulling the guards there to kill them within 15-30 seconds. Lone roamers can still be useful by disrupting the supply. And I think that is fair.

why not? O_O

A camp is a very important objective and shouldn’t appear that feeble to succumb to the invasion of just one roamer. It is very easy for a roamer to take the camp before even swords pop up on it… If you have no scouts (which make up for the easiness), set at every camp. Like I said earlier, I can see roamers disrupting supply, but it shouldn’t be that pathetically easy to take a camp.

I regularly solo towers and if given the chance keeps as well. Walls won’t stop a good roamer. Which is beside the fact that that’s basically our purpose, to stop supplies from flowing and to be a pain in the enemy’s behind.

A fully upgraded camp is not as easy to take. If the camp is really important at the current time it will probably be defended and upgraded. Walls might add a little too much defense for roamers if they could fight from inside.

Because he cant defend it himself and needs to call his entire server blob to def a camp probably….

If a camp is that important you scout it. Just like a tower and keep. If you dont scout or defend that you will also lose it, yes even to a solo player. Might take a bit longer but no defense = lost.

I just think it’s a bad idea overall,removing the solo aspect in wvw even more.One guy Should be able to grab a camp alone,send 2 people to the camp being taken and he’s most likely a goner anyways.It’s already way too zergy,the siege disablers kinda ruines small scale partys aswell..putting a barrier around camps would only make things more frustrating for solo’s/small scale partys.

The only reason I even jump into wvw once in a while is to flip fully upgraded camps then go back to pvp lol, if they did that then I wouldn’t even bother. Not everyone likes to zerg blob around all day, and if the objectives are so important then guard them yourself. :P

That’s just my opinion, but I think players that are willing to do and think things for themselves shouldn’t be punished for it.

If I can bash these gates like PvE gates it’s not an issue… But if you want us to require the use of siege to take a camp, no thank you.

In a lot of cases yes, but not always either. Still, there’s enough blob promotion as is. I don’t want to see solo roaming die out. WvW is the only reason I play GW2 every day and roaming is mostly all I do there. I just don’t think walls are necessary – as someone has said, a fully upgraded camp is hard enough to take. A fully upgraded camp with mercenaries (hylek/dredge/ogres) is very difficult to solo. I can’t remember the last time I attempted to take a fully upgraded camp with merc’s by myself. I always take the time to neutralize the merc camp first, then I have to kite the patrolling NPC’s before I can even think about trying to actually flip the camp. So if you think it’s easy it ain’t.

It is very easy for a roamer to take the camp before even swords pop up on it…

If a lone player is soloing a camp before swords show up on it in 15 seconds, then it kinda sounds like you’re not even fully upgrading your camps, in which case adding in optional walls will be irrelevant because you probably wouldn’t build them anyways.

Some camps you can aggro everything but the supervisor such as the NE camp in the borderlands. It’s the supervisor getting aggro’d that causes the swords.

I generally take a little longer (not much as I make them stack) to flip a fully upgrade camp but it’s doable. I have more issues with the EB ones when we get those Hylek and Dredge.
