Seriously this need to be revamped fast or people will just start to leave the game.

I realise ANET needs to make an income but the upgrade costs are ridiculous especially when timezone population imbalance mean that upgraded points can be capped by small zergs.

Reduce the kitten costs please.

Alternatively remove the costs altogether and base upgrades on guild karma expense. If something is claimed by a guild they can spend karma upgrading it. If unclaimed, it doesn’t get upgraded.

And give guilds some benefit for taking and upgrading points – at the very least it should be stated on the map which guild holds the point, even better would be for the NPCs to display the guild tag.

That or make upgrades automatic based on time held by a realm. So if you hold something for 12 hours it upgrades slowly to max.

I disagree. The costs are balanced for guilds that are dedicated to WvW with a sizeable following.
Not small guilds, not pve guilds and not single players.

We go through about 100g a week (+ whatever siege people donate). So people contribute to the guild, people do this because the money is well spend and dedicated to our succes in WvW.

For those guilds, the costs are bareable and imo acceptable because that is what you dedicate yourself too.

At the moment building out a keep or tower is extremely expensive but that is the way to win a weeks battle. Too bad the zergheads don’t understand that.

We really need a reward system for the guilds/players who can build a point and hold it. At the moment we’re just spending all we have, gold, research influence, etc and we’re getting very little in return for that.

This also comes down to people being enticed by aggressive objective zerging compared to defending important upgraded areas. It’s pretty discouraging to spend a lot of money on something and then watch it fall to a very small group of enemies because you can’t get people together to hold it. I think all servers have WvW participators who don’t use blueprints enough, never upgrade anything, don’t use supply enough, get supply from the wrong places, always claim keeps without guild buffs up and don’t know how to think for themselves. All these things (including OP’s issue) will be resolved with time as more gold is accumulated and players realise how important it is to be working as a team. I know I can notice the changes already week by week.

I really wish you could see the name of the guild that claimed the Keep. I don’t know many of the guild’s emblems and I would like to know who is the guild which claimed the tower…

If they reduced the costs but have a 3-step boosting that costs a lot more, it would make sense.
