Can someone plz explain to me why u need to be verified to get on any type of group communication. Once u log on to WvW all u see in chat is GET ON TS3 blah, blah ,blah…..and once u get into TS3 u have to wait for someone to verify u??? WTF, I waited over 45mins for verification despite asking on map several times and getting no response, all the while ppl going on in chat to get on TS3!!!! There has to be some better system out there? Mumble uses the same bullkitten VERIFICATION/PERMISSION system, that forces u to try and find someone busy in the game to give u permission to join??? Just looking for some type of COMMONSENSE explanation.

The VOIP Servers are run by the respective community leaders, so ask them directly instead of random people here.

Usually this is to prevent spies.

How do u identify these community leaders? It still requires u to jump through some sort of hoop to get into TS3 or Mumble.

They don’t want people from the other server listening in on their movements. That said, they’re offering a service. If you don’t want to use that service, then don’t. It’s very simple.

No need for the INTERPOL background check, but a DNA sample and the Pope’s blessing are standard procedure, yes.

There is a section on that forum for people who want to be verified. Takes less than five minutes to do. Normally, TCBL and EB have someone online who can verify but if you’re waiting for a long time, I would just go to that site.

Sounds like a TC issue.

They want to know what guild you’re from and establish that you actually play on their server.

There are a few really lame and nerdy servers like T1 that spy on their enemy, watching commander tag movement on 2nd pc/laptop next to them.

Hence why you need to be given permissions to move around the teamspeak, its only a one time thing, not every time, and hence why more guilds run with no tag on.

A few super lame people ruin it for everyone else. We’re looking at you T1.

Spies are everywhere in higher tiers, no idea which server you play on. Hell this isnt even the worst thing, there are people that DDOS other servers TS.

Why this type of verification? Its real easy: so you know the guy on TS is actually on the server.

The point here is that you say in map chat that you need verification. You dont whisper, you dont join a party and wish for it and you dont request it in Lions Arch. When you say you want verification in map chat, people know that you are on the border and can be let on TS.

Spies can still get on by abusing server transfers, but at least this minimize it and make it a tad harder for casuals to just join TS and listen in.

Verification is absolutely required for VOIP programs. It’s not even just for GW2. A vast majority of private TS servers out there require verification. It’s to prevent bots, spammers, trolls and other undesirables.

Anyway, TS verification is incredibly easy to get on an active server. I’m usually temp-verifying 5-10 people a day when I’m spamming the details of BG’s teamspeak.

Depends on who is on… On my server, when we link the teamSpeak adress, I always keep an eye on TS for those who do not have rights, and treat it as fast as possible (check if they are on the map, and if their name formatting fits the one we ask for).

It’s weird that people keep linking TS without keeping an eye on it for rights, bad first time :s

You only have to be verified ONE time and its permanent so considering how many hours you probably play this game, and that you can keep playing while waiting to be verified, I would say the only time you wasted in this process was forming this complaint post.

It could be worse, you could be on one of those server’s that demand everyone be on TS only to find out everyone on TS is crowded into 1 channel regardless of what BL they are in, pretty much making the joining of TS pointless.

The TC mumble requires In-Map verification to prevent spying. State your correctly formatted mumble name ([GTAG]Charname) in the mapchat and a server admin or moderator will register you.

If you are unaffiliated or not in a WvWvW relevant guild, use [_] instead.
Also, if you tend to use multiple characters, use your account name instead (this worked in my case)

In order to skip registration if you are on a new rig, export your Mumble cert and import it on the new rig.
