“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Glad to have you.
deso lost a lot of players, but i think still that server have one of the best community.
Just the WvW
R3200+
See, this is why a WvW achieve is good, of course you also get people only trying to complete this and get out, but some people stick around and join the fun!
One of us! One of us!
But seriously, glad you got in there and tried it. Starting out is always the most difficult because of the bad rep WvW has due to the match-up threads and word of mouth (..and also not knowing a single thing about it I guess), but once you get into it WvW is actually a lot of fun!

welcome to what i consider the funnest part of our game, glad to hear the good things can come for the achievement.
enjoy your self, get involved in your servers community ask lots of questions and don’t be afraid to party up with random people when you are running solo most of us enjoy the company.
Some general tips.
Most guilds using the Server public TS (most servers seem to have it) do not mind if you run with them even when they are tagged down given a couple of things.
1. Never bring upleveled unless they say its okay first.
2. Have a group/zerg build and armor set, roaming with a large organized guild is not what you are doing. You need to stay alive so you do not cause their enemies to rally.
3. Follow that commander BETTER then his own team.
4. Be on their Teamspeak channel.
This is more for others just getting into WvW and wanting to learn more about how the organized guild groups run. If you follow the above, I know most of the guilds that run on SOS would be happy to have you, I can only assume most others would as well.
Welcome to the best part of WvW and sometimes the most frustrating (since its the most fun, and yet Anet tends to treat it as a 3rd cousin) part of the GW2 experience.
Stat increase = gear grind.
Gear grind = no money from me ever again.
The OP’s post explains why Desolation (or Tankolation, hell – I’m going to embrace it – I can, after all, occasionally be a Necro Tank), is doing so well in the League. I’ve always felt that if our PvE community discovered WvW, we’d be unstoppable, and after months of poor results and crippling Guild loss, the start of Season 1 breathed new life into Deso’s efforts.
Like you, Danikat, I started out my GW2 experienced focused on PvE. I discovered WvW purely by trying to complete my monthly, and came across a great commander and his guild that helped me understand the mechanics of the game. I haven’t looked back since.
Welcome, and Thanks! The first few weeks were painful, but I think the League has been fantastic! May you and all the other ‘casual’ WvWers recently converted continue to enjoy the fun to be had.
(I have to know! In WvW, do Legendary NPCs drop Legendary loot?)
Welcome OP,you may see my Necro, Tu Funneh trying to be funny in map chat. And trying to lift spirits when they are down.Deso WvWers are a fun bunch for sure. And we lost a lot of great people before season 1.But we have rebuilt well, and the foundation is strong.
Glad to have you in WvW. I might have killed you a couple of times during the weekend since I am on the opposing team =)
And who knows you might have killed me too. You got a great attitude with your comment about the camp and it’s true that capping them are a great nuisance to the opposing team. Hope to see you on the battle field.
I am so glad OP is from my server.
i feel there is many more like him
@Danikat, great post and glad you enjoy playing WvW since the release of Season 1. Hope many could read your story and not affraid to experience the fun with in. We all started from “zero” xp, so none should feel diminished there.
;)
