One of the frustrating things I see commanders doing is either making simple tactical errors, (attacking uphill against a greater force w/ seige raining down) or most often not using a zerg to its potential, that potential being defined by the situation.
Being that commander tags are fairly easy to come by if you really want one, and how useful they can be, it would be cool if there were more than one color. Categories abound, but I’m thinking offensive/defensive/supply/ and of course FABuluusssssss (or something) tag colors that commanders can flip. I know some people (with unflipped cmdr tags) that spend hours running yaks, building seige, etc. and it’d be cool to give them both recognition and an organizing presence.. maybe make it part of a daily to support different commander types. I just hate seeing a 40 man zerg making supply runs during various prime times. That’s like (this one’s for the kids) sending the Beiberfeverpumpkinpeever to NorthEastCentral Canada. I mean, who needs le Beeb in NorthEastCentral Canada. You gotta put that guy in like, the middle east where he can really Uhck Shih Uh and show them what MMMmericuh is all about, or.. well.. the few muslims that really hate americans.. can.. lets just say, two birds? Or just one bird.. I don’t count birds that well to be honest.
Guilds could organize a couple parties to do what it needs and use the primary tag to take pugs and hard hitting guildies to uck shih up? I’m a firm believer in the idea that the best defense is a good offense, and that mobility is key. Static defense against a large enough zerg doesn’t seem to work well especially IF(notice the bigness of said if) the wrong commander is competent. So there needs to be a mobile force that can hit hard enough to take towers and a keep once in a while, both to keep the enemy zerg on its back foot, and to feed the friendly zerg (think of the first half of the stroking session Tommy Boy had with the ‘Sale’ in that one scene where he eventually goes nuts and savagely rips it apart, but just think of that first part). Yet, sometimes supply/repair/build runs need to happen. So like… scenario 1 per say…
cmdr to guildie…
“BRO”
“sup”
“FLip that sheez”
“that’s a nurse [(short for affirmative)(which kind of sounds like infirmary, in which there are nurses, some times hot ones)]”
“10 people follow him the rest with me.. "
And Hot Nurses abound over the drama free / chatty kathy free / commander chatty kathy free / spy free / organized, voice channel you and your bromanas (combo of brother and hermana [Spanish for sister, let it never be said i neglected the ladies..]) have set up via TS, mumble, stratcomm, verizon, at&t, skype, uh… i made the third one up.. (and also, ladies, notice. Nurse is asexual.. most male nurses are hot. I never forget the ladies, or the gays. Wow that really worked out.)
and boom.. people can generally count other people. most times. the 6-15 people go do their thing, pick up whoever along the way and come back to the zerg. This is assuming that the primary commander can come up with something effective to do for his partially depleted force in the meantime.
don’t underestimate pugs. They’re not stupid. most times. Just uncoordinated.
Seeing more than a few blue tags on the map is just confusing. Yet, sometimes only seeing one, considering how much more we could be (or should be) doing is depressing. I definitely wouldn’t say each guild could have a different color.. that would be… how do you say? fubar. most times. Categories need to be broader and focused towards visual (sparkly) coordination for those who can’t/won’t establish/use voice comms EFFECTIVELY (again, notice the bigness).
Or people could just get more organized/disciplined using voice comms.. I mean that would be way easier. All around. But we’re dealing with the masses here, the path of least resistance… and gamers to boot. who, lets be honest, aren’t always the easiest to socialize with. I mean that’s why some of us game right? And that’s fine… i think.
This game wasn’t built for spies or trolls .. it’s an interesting element that shows humanity’s capacity for adaption… but.. this game wasn’t built for it. I think it takes more away than it adds. And if it’s broken or corrupted.. well it starts to become less worth it, quickly. A la the mass exodus you had when rendering wvw players was an issue. Thanks for fixing that btdub.. (yes i realize that was a longer abbreviation of an abbreviation… so a debreviation?) Great work. Drinks all around. Figurative drinks.
It might be good to try and figure out how to curb spying.. somehow. BUT. for now. Consider, purpose driven (hey there Rick Warren) colored (visually diverse) commander tags.
