waypoints
Actually there is the possibility to build waypoints into captured defenses.
The only problem is that nobody does it because of several reasons:
1. You can’t use them while your Castle/Tower is under attack
2. The Waypoint Upgrade alone costs 1.5g not counting the previousely needed
Upgrades into the equation.
3. Waypoint are (like every Upgrade) lost at the moment that the enemy captures the
Structure they are built at.
Putting waypoints outside of controlled keeps that you own (and could then teleport to) or the starting spawn would just allow points the other side could spawn camp.
The starting borderlands waypoint for every area has more than one way out to limit the amount of spawn camping.

You guys have to understand that we are dealing with a 1 day cycle so those upgrades become even more costly when you take into account tomorrow they will be gone and everyone is leveling anyhow so money is tight. I think once the 2 week cycle starts the WvWvW maps will be working more like they intended it to.
ya which is why they should make way points them selves a tiny structure to be taken and lost by the 3 different worlds. as 1 server sweeps across the map controlling more and more way points they can rally closer and closer to the fight. and vise verse.
If you find yourself running more than fighting, I suggest changing your tactics or playing with friends so they can resurrect you.
I’m against more and easier accessible waypoints. If we really need improved mobility in WvW (honestly, we really don’t) I’d suggest a 5 min speed boost aquired at your server’s spawn point (like they have in the main cities). This will allow you to return to the fight quicker after dying. But it won’t increase our mobility much during the action.
They should just add waypoints to major keeps by default, just don’t let us port there while it’s under attack (I don’t see this being too much of an issue). I don’t want to make attacking keeps any harder but just in terms of mobility it would be a lot better. They’ve done that in other games. And also adding in a few small structures elsewhere on the map that are separate waypoints you can attack/defend is also a good idea.

I agree. Running from the left-corner in the eternal battlegrounds everytime you die is a huge turn-off.
They can not add more waypoints. It would break WvW to have them in abundance and possibly even to have them at all.
There must be a benefit to killing a player. Your team makes some headway in the battle because your opponent’s numbers have decreased. You cancel all of this by putting waypoints to allow an instant resurrection of the player or reaction to an attack.
No attrition = no progress

I fully agree. There has to be a penalty for dying, and a long run time back is just it. Now I get that people can find it frustrating to assault a keep that is far from your spawn…but you are essentially going into the enemy territory. You cannot have a WP that allows you to go right into their territory as it would make it fairly difficult for that side to retake control on their points.
i see what your saying cross but im sure Anet could find a way to add more waypoints but still keep it balanced.

No I disagree. Having more waypoints adds in another layer of strategy. It gives you the opportunity to control the flow of traffic. If you want to shut out the enemy, than you can do that and force them to only use the default waypoint and run like we do now. Or if you’re a bit behind, being able to keep a nearby waypoint may just be that one thing your team needed to start coming back a bit. You might even be able to use the attacking of a waypoint as a distraction, I dunno. It just opens up possibilities for both sides I think.

They actually made it harder to capture objectives that are closer to the enemy spawn on purpose so I agree with you.

hahah well im glad everyone agrees that more waypoints are needed in WvWvW, let’s hope the devs see this!

Uhm? I count three people agreeing and three disagreeing.
I seriously hope Anet will never add more waypoints. Everyone will ignore towers and keeps. WvW will be a battle for the waypoints.
More spawn points is bad. Also allowing people to teleport around the map is also unnatural and prevents scouting tactics.
If you don’t want to run back, don’t die.
No, more waypoints are NOT needed. It would make it way to easy to defend keeps or siege objectives b/c people could just endlessly zerg it.
Dying has a real consequence in WvW, one of them being you have a long way to run back. Know how to deal with that?
DON’T DIE!
It’s not hard folks. Don’t overextend yourself. Don’t rush headlong into a bad situation. Play smart!

wow, it’s sad how apparently 80-90% of the playerbase don’t even know WvW is meant to be played in 2 week cycles. or that guilds actually can add waypoints.
Oh I knew about that, Nemui.
I just don’t want them adding waypoints on top of the upgraded ones, or making those upgrades cheaper.

I don’t see how this thread reflects the playerbase and I don’t see much people who don’t know WvW is meant for 2 week cycles instead of 1 day or who don’t know one can already add waypoints to keeps and the castle.
Working as intended. Running is a penalty for death and it can be circumvented by expensive waypoint upgrades.

Agreed. It would simply allow players to play more recklessly and be rewarded for doing so via the fast travel back.
Personaly i agree with Zax.6170
Its ur problem if u die , but the problem is that there are too many impetient guys (sometimes i hate it too)
An other solution to try as an expirement for 5-6 days , its by creating waypoints at the sentry-charrs
Even if it mean reducing their numbers or relocating them
No, more waypoints is definitely not the answer here. You can already build waypoints at the keeps, but people are reluctant to do so because the matches only last 24 hours. When we move to the standard 2 week matches you’ll see a lot more waypoints cropping up.
