Still not Everquest…18years and 22 expansions

But on topic… find a friend or 2 and literally all your little stealth salt problems go away…also, don’t play in full zerker gear…tank up a bit….at 3300 armor and 27k hp, thieves can attempt to gank me…they just bounce off me and stealth their little behinds off to lick their wounds or sit smoldering in the dirt.

By that logic EQ is no UO which is still around.

In one year, WoW generated more revenue than every EQ title. Add in the cross over marketing, China release and each WoW expansion and WoW generated more revenue than pretty much every MMO combined. WoW is an unparalleled success and before its run is over will likely hold the most profitable game ever.

Yeah. The profitability of WoW can’t be questioned. Part of WoW’s success is that from the on set it was playable by even meager computers. Compared to say PoP/Velious EQ expansions which overhauled the graphics required just within the 2 and 3rd expansion. That’s not even getting into EQ2 which abuses pc resources like that’s it’s main function.

UO lol yeah true but different breed/generation of mmorpgs.

WoW followed suit of many early EQ concepts and GW2 has taken those concepts from WoW in other directions. Vanilla EQ had multiple pvp servers with open fighting across good vs evil races, duels and an open arena in PvE servers for group fights, WoW enhanced the idea of team battles through instanced skirmishes, has an arena and a pvp server option for horde vs alliance but implemented rules against grifting low level players and anti train mechanics. Gw2 takes that the last step forward putting pvp/wvw in exclusively instanced areas which player level adjustment and in the case of PvP, equipment equalization. Similarly EQ vanilla had exp loss on death and corpse holding ALL your equipment that must be retrieved nude before timer deletes all your stuff, WoW had exp loss…gw2 has minimal repair costs. I know UO has a lot of these mechanics but in a scale of pen and paper rpg to modern pc mmorpgs, UO falls more into a digital pen and paper sandbox then what we accept as a mmorpg standard these days.

WoW perfected the modern MMO system in its time. GW2 was a step towards the next generation of active combat but in my opinion didn’t take it far enough.

GW2 is in its own right a monster success but it tried to serve too many masters at launch. Add in a horrible loot system with a non-existent aggro and an otherwise beautiful game ends up with substandard PvE and none of the excitement of a great loot drop.

At least Wow handles stealth in a more sensible way, if a stealth walks in front of you there’s a chance you can see their outline and hear the noise that a stealth person is around you. They also pop out of stealth for any attack, well other than sap which breaks on damage anyways. No need to carry around stealth traps.

WoW stealth is far more balanced than GW2 stealth.

WoW stealth breaks on dot damage or any damage, and you can only use stealth to open combat.

If you get close to the target, they can see you and pop you out of stealth.

If you enter combat, only rogues can re-enter stealth on a 2 MINUTE cooldown.

Thief in GW2 can enter stealth every 8 seconds from BP>HS alone.

To top it off, WoW rogue doesn’t have a stunbreak otehr than a 2 min cd trinket that teleports him 1200 yards away and can be used twice.

The WoW rogue gap closer is on a 30+ sec cd. Thief got steal on a 20 sec cd, on top of unhindered combatant, shortbow, shadowshot, and shadowstep if they feel like burning it to gap clsoe instead of disengaging.

Don’t you even dare compare WoW pvp with GW2, WoW pvp has significantly more balanced stealth classes.

WoW PvP is in a far better place, classes don’t have one million blocks and immunities and evades bundled with several teleports on top of strong spike damage.

In WoW, defensive and offensive cooldowns are on considerable cooldowns so you actually need to use them strategically in a match instead of the spamfest that is GW2.

u did forgot to mention that WoW is also the reason why MMO’s are all utterly kitten now.
many many players do not want arena pvp
many players do not want a “map” setup for pvp only
many players do not want to follow kittenty quest in order to lvl
many players do not want dungeons to hide your kitten to lvl up/gear up

u see?
im coming from mmo where it took u days/weeks/months (depending on your lvl obviously) to lvl up it took u even longer to get gear.
the whole market was community driven etc quest where non sense u had to kill 100 mobs of x for y reward while 2 mobs in other zone would give u more XP reward already then whole quest would give u after 100 mobs.

this is what i want again.
raid spawned in open world u had to PvP for them in order to kill them, u didnt simply go to dungeon and do your silly raid in peace.
nope u had to get half your clan, one pt to kill raid multiple parties to deffend your kitten .

these are mmo’s where u find them now?
nowhere because every1 is little spoiled brat now, oooh if it has open world pvp i get ganked all the time by higher lvls its not fun
oooh if it has no quest i have to grind all the time its not fun
oooh if it has no dungeons then where is the content?

i mean i do not want content, i want to grind cus grind means pvp for XP spots.

and then not to mention wow has no impact on this but the free 2 play market that has turned almost every game into Pay 2 win.. hands down for gw2 for having a shop ingame that has no impact on the game at all.

tbh i just miss the good old korean grind games with open world pvp and no dungeons.

Though your talking about Korean games, this literally sounds like vanilla eq /kunark/Velious

But on a side note, Korean based game companies are some of the first to adopt the cosmetic cash shops becuase for some weird reason Korean players “need” their characters to be females in undies with bunny ears. Example : Vindictus

I hear lineage is still around, probably what you’re looking for.

You obviously don’t know there’s a difference between the Asian and NA markets. You and asia might enjoy the korean grind open pvp games, but the rest of the world doesn’t. You only have to look at the numbers for games in both markets to figure that out.

MMO’s aren’t utterly kitten because of Wow, Wow brought a lot of gamers to the mmo market, while maintaining a higher development standard than most other companies. It’s the developers who have utterly kitten up the market with bug riddled early release clone after clones, and not bothering to make fun games.

At least Anet went a different route with GW2, they changed how you level with hearts and exploration instead of a billion quests, zone wide events which have turned into meta events. Open zone bosses so you didn’t need to drag a guild around with you all the time, dungeons, fractals, arena spvp, living stories, raids, wvw. At lot of good stuff for the mmo market, too bad they’re letting half their game go to waste, especially wvw.

If you want a korean grinder more than enough of those clones around to choose from these days.
