Is there any way to ‘turn off’ WXP gain?

I’ve spent months working toward my ‘Legend’ title and now after just a few days at the top of the food chain I’m about to lose it and become a ‘Bronze Noob’ or whatever the kittening title is.

I don’t want to.

You could try building defensive siege equipment, escorting dolyaks, or upgrading camps, towers, or keeps to stop gaining WXP.

Hope this helps.

They just wanted to mirror the style of progression you see in every rank system…

…except for none of them…

Its just a nonsensical naming structure with no rhyme or reason to any of it. Invader to Assualter is even a suggested demotion. If you hit someone that’s assault, if you march into their country and usurp their government that’s invasion.

Knight to major? Really? From nobility to military middle management? $%&# it, why not.

The rank naming convention is just plain chaos of randomized promotions and demotions. It’s like someone let their 10 year old kid come up with it while they were sitting at their cubicle at ANet so they could spend their time doing something more productive…like playing Cube World.

Then again I know some 10 year olds who’d be smart enough to know a Knight is higher in the pecking order than a Major or Colonel, and is commonly deemed an equivalent to a General with the right qualifications. Could even stand to argue that Knights are equivalent to Legends as well, since they existed as a fighting force hundreds of years ago and we still talk about them.

Just a really long winded way to say the devs are just plain not even trying to make ya feel like WvW is rewarding even when it comes down to meaningless titles only the enemy can see.

Well to be completely fair a lot of games use Knight as a rank rather than a title of nobility like WoW with Knight → Knight-Lieutenant → Knight-Commander and Fire Emblem with Knight → General

But that said I do agree with Obscure One’s sentiment. This rank system is a completely randomized mess.

I’m genuinely curious as to who honestly thought Legend → Bronze kittenbucket was a promotion.

We can argue knight, military ranks, etc all day but I think most players believe going from Legendary to Bronze Invader blows.

@OP or you could just stop caring about a title no one from your own server sees.

This was another confusing decision.

I mean, not seeing your enemies name was one thing. But not being able to show off your rank to your allies? I just don’t see what good was intended to come from that idea.

There are 2 main flaws with this complaint.
1. Who actually cares. You can get those ranks by following a blue tag for hours and hours, it’s not a huge achievement.
2. When enemies see the Bronze _ rank, most would know roughly what level that is. So, being a bronze ____ is more impressive than legend to most people anyway.
3. (Yes I added a third) The only time you ever see that title is when you look at your wvw level page thing. You never ever see it anywhere else, and nobody from your server sees it at all. If it really annoys you that much for the 1 minute you look at that page at a time, just move the box so you can’t see it or something. Although it really shouldn’t annoy you that much.
