Shouldn’t be terribly difficult to implement. If I treb down a tower wall, I should get as much (more, really, but whatever) credit as some guy who stood outside doing nothing and then ran into the circle.

And no, the satisfaction of helping my team achieve victory is not a sufficient reward.

What? If I decide to sit there and hold down the ‘1’ key for 10 minutes, I am most assuredly helping my team. I should at least get my measly karma reward and achievement credit for doing so.

If everyone followed this train of thought then no one would ever treb garrison from bay.
Topic starter is right on this matter, WvW doesn’t give credit to those who actually deserve, running repairs, trebbing, reviving etc.

lv80 with skills fully unlocked, warrior, elementalist and engineer
lv80 Necromancer, all professional skills unlocked, working on the final norn elite skills.

You realize there is usually resistance inside a tower ? So your argument about the guy in the red circle is probably flawed,and eventhough he may had not much to do atleast he came to take the tower and assist in backup incase there is any..

He would have no resistance to face if he was not inside, which he would not be without that Trebber having knocked down the wall. He wouldn’t have been able to even reach the circle in the first place.

As far as I know you do get credited for trebbing only.

If the wall you damaged actually goes down you should get rewarded for it. I have received rewards many times before, just for trebbing….

If the wall you damaged actually goes down you should get rewarded for it. I have received rewards many times before, just for trebbing….

I’ve only ever gotten bronze medal for trebbing a wall down myself. Just don’t think that’s fair considering a person who did -nothing- but stand in the circle gets a gold. Whether they hit a single enemy or no.

I’ve always though that there needs to be a lot more incentive for players who spend most of their time (or devote a large chunk of it – as many on my server do) to sitting in a tower or a keep firing trebs for hours on end, giving them no reward is a little unfair when a keep is taken because of their wall breach. I really don’t think they should have to leave the treb and hot foot it to whatever their target was in order to get any credit for their efforts. IMO, this is a big oversight.

In a lot of cases, this simply isn’t true. I can’t speak for every server, but I’ve lost count of the number of keeps/towers we’ve taken with zero resistance becauase of the opposing teams zerg rush being a karma train and leaving anything captured completely undefended.

Actually for a bit it did. Though some patch ninja screwed it again to give no credit.

That would also require a rework of how the events work out. Else you can build a treb, fire once at everything in range and get your rewards from all the events that either completed or failed (much like events in pve where you get rewards for something you hit 20 mins. ago or shooting a dolyak 1x and still getting gold reward). Then you still didn’t contribute to your team.

Remove trebs and bring in mobile cannons that can’t be taken into or build inside keeps, towers etc, problem solved,

Trebs are badly thought out and need either a reworking or removal/replacement.

In the meantime, bronze seems as adequate reward for pressing 2 from the safety of whatever safe spot the treb was built in with little to no chance of you damaging your armor.

Got to agree with this. When I spend my time firing a Trebuchet from complete safety in SM, I am pretty much fine with getting “reduced” rewards. Sure, Johnny Random may not do anything but run into a circle and get rewarded for it, but often times Johnny Random did actually fight and contribute on the battlefront, risking death and repairs.

Currently, I can say you definitely do NOT get ANY credit if all you did was treb the wall down.

However… I have found that if you hit siege or players that are near/around the wall…then you do get credit for the tower….

I think its a pretty simple concept…If I can run up and hit a guard or a piece of siege and get Bronze…a trebber hitting the wall should at least get the same.

Help me out, I’m not sure on this.

I think hitting the door gives credit. If that is the case, treb’ing a door would give you credit but treb’ing a wall doesn’t. That don’t seem right.

I noticed this too. I used to get full credit for trebbing bay wall down from garrison. Last couple times we’ve done it though ive gotten no credit at all.

I spent several hours spamming 2 on trebs a few weeks ago and got literally no reward for it.

Siege is boring as kitten. I understand that I’m helping out and I enjoy that I am, but holy kitten do I need to have more incentive to sit there spamming 2 for hours on end than flipping a tower. I decided never to treb kitten again because of that experience.
