Zikory – Retired Thief
Zikkro – Zergling Necromancer

I’d like to start for by saying I think its a very interesting idea, adding more ways to gain War Points out side of the current ways seems like it can give some new life to WvW. What worries me is the possibility for griefing a server. Potentially you can gain 3 points for stomping a player, whats to stop the current “trolls” from suicide training to effect scores?
I know it seems like a lot of work to troll a server but they have been known to go above and beyond with supply draining, siege capping, and detracting commander tags. All of which nothing gets done about. I understand it can be hard to distinguish a bad player from some one tanking the score and may result in a wrongful banning but it can become a serious issue. Just think about how mad servers got about siege capping when that came about, now these greifers will be able to directly effect the scores of the match.
Just to clarify, this is a post to complain about the new buffs. I’m more interested in what will be done if this becomes a issue. I worry with the seasons coming up, people will be getting a bit more competitive thus much easier to troll and anet will end up with a lot of upset costumers.
EDIT: Thank you Terrahero for the constructive response! Please try to keep your responses constructive, I know tensions are high right now with all the “anet doesn’t care” and “the video” but I feel this can have a very negative effect on WvW and on the off chance we get a dev to comment on the issue, I would like to keep the thread clean and inviting. Please just try to keep this thread on this topic. Thank You.

I think it is a terrible idea due to a long list of issues this will inevitably bring with it. You merely touched on one of them, granted its a pretty bad one, but there are others.
What about the idea that new players/bad players will now actively feed other servers points. If you’re into it for the points, for the win, for the Seasons and whatnot. This can create a very hostile environment to new players or bad players. Previously they were just not very helpful, but now they can be downright damaging to your server.
This very same thing is what lead to such toxic communities in games like Dota, Dota2, LoL. Where if you die, the other team gets gold and that helps them win.
We’ve also not talked about how stomping and downed states are just flat out unbalanced. A Thief will have an easier time stomping someone who is downed then, just about any other profession really. Due to having low-cost Stealth to greatly improve the likelyhood of landing an uninterupted Stomp.
The same way, certain professions (in particular Thief, Mesmer, Ele) have much better means to avoid getting stomped. Atleast for a little while, meaning they are less likely to feed points to other servers.
I think we should also count Warrior on that list, seeing as Vengeance means you dont actually get stomped so the other server doesnt get the points.
Its just a very, deeply, flawed system. That can bring damaging, negative community behavior. Abuse and cheating. And has to deal with a generally gross inbalance surrounding the downed state. Its just a really bad idea.
Relax, finishing off down players should add to points. Far more legitimate stomps having significant more point influence will be occurring over anything either of you are concerned with.
Sadly like my post this is just speculation of what we assume will happen, till it gos live neither of use can say either way. Honestly I don’t expect this to be a major issue right off the bat, I would guess that it will have a greater effect later down the line once the big change settles.
My point is that if some one wanted to grief (with the worst situation being 1 server has all 3 points) I think its safe to say you could easily die and get stomped 6 times every 15 minutes (that’s 1 death every 2.5 minutes) if there is enemys close to your spawn. Thats 18 points a tick from 1 person, thats more than holding a camp and a tower for tick. Now I’m just guessing the death rate I bet you could do more if your really trying to.
I’m basing my point off the worst possible situation, though unlikely that it happens super often, its still possible. Truthfully I hope your right and it does not become a issue, but I would still like to know what they plan to do if it does end up like we stated. Hopefully it gos live and its awesome, but from what I have heard it seems to easy to exploit.
