So, hey everyone!

I’m looking forward to getting into more WvW and maybe PvP. I want a heavy armor class so it’s either warr or guard. What’d your recommendations be? I’d like to move more with zergs and play a supportive role so I’m unsure if I should look towards healing shouts or some kind of tanky guard build.

The only OP thing I see about the new class is the armor skin. I watched a friend of mine playing the Beta and it seemed like a bad combo between Necro & Mesmer.

Huh………I played it a thought it was a good combination, I guess that is just me. It would help, to offer you advice, if we knew a little more about what you are looking to get out of it, what style of play you like, and what kind of builds you prefer?

I recommend having one of each because they are both good and have their own uses. You cant simply look at them as heavy class, they are different professions which offer different roles to a group.

Warriors-
-Very high mobility
-High Damage
-High tankiness, regen
-Access to damage immunity from utility/trait, and conditions immunity from utility
-Group support with warhorn for swiftness, blast finisher, and condi cleanses if traited
-Shout heals if traited good aoe and personal support, can remove cons if trooper runes used
-Good ranged weapon options, although better to use hammer and s/wh for zergs
-Greatsword gives good mobility and damage but better for small group/havok setups
-Hammer great cc weapon, although slow and high cd’s
-Sword gives leap which is very useful, bleed stacking, and immobilize on burst
-Trait that can immobilize on cripple, and warriors have lots of cripple options
-Most used heal skill has low active heal, so proper kiting and knowing when to move -away is very important
-Banner elite has 240s cd so have to use at proper timing when commanders call for it, also coordinating among warriors in group is important so your not all dropping them at the same time
-Current pirateship meta can make it difficult to run dual melee, but still absolutely doable

Guardian-
-Extremely Durable
-Tons of ways to heal, so many you can lose count
-Low mobility at times, so staying with zerg is important
-Generally locked into 2 setups, shouts and meditations: Shouts for zerg/medi for roaming
-Staff is important support weapon, #3 skill rolling symbols for keeping swiftness up in moving groups, auto attack can hit 5 targets at once, easy to spread burning, but only 600 range on auto, empower allows for stronger spikes and can self heal for a ton if your near allies when traited with altruistic healing, lines are good for cc’s and removing stability stacks.
-GS does really good damage and is important for leaps, Binding Blade can pull thieves out of Shadow refuge. Hammer does good cc’s and #2 skill is a short cd blast finisher, but is really slow, for me at least. Some commanders will ask you to switch them around in different situations.
-Main heal skill for wvw/pvp has 2seconds of blocking
-Elite skill that grants immunity and virtue refresh with 90s cd
-Lots of group support
-Can remove conditions like no other profession- can use trooper runes, purging flames skill, and pure of voice which will stack with trooper runes to remove 2 cons in an aoe per shout, and more options as well.

Each profession also synergizes better with certain other professions in group compositions. This would also affect rune choices, for example melandru/hoelbrak runes work better for groups that can provide quick condi cleanses. So it also depends on your playstlye.

With the stability changes and the new meta I recommend you roll a necro ele or ranger

If you ever plan on being a commander pick guardian. Warrior is more flexible in fights otherwise.
