Hi guys,

what do you think about the warrior mobility? I think warrior must be a class with high damage and heavy armor but about mobility? I write here because i dont know how this work in sPvP but in WvW i see a lot of time warrior run away from combat without problem against melee or ranged class.

Dont tell me “Thief can too” yes, they can with stealth, but it’s different. They dont have so many hp and armor

Yeah, warriors are somewhat unstoppable when they are using GS + Sword / war horn or even less but they are certainly not helping their own team by abandoning them in the middle of a fight.

However if you are mostly encountering solo players using the runaway spec then they aren’t doing much harm having to resort to sprinting across the map whenever they are attacked. It’s WvW, you have to hold objectives. If anything, it’s just an annoyance.

Warrior mobility skills have a hard counter in form of cripple, chill and immobilize. With mobile strikes warrior mobility skills break immobilize, but only at the beginning of the skill. If you cripple, chill or immobilize the warrior during the skill, you can easily stop the warrior. With cripple active the range of those mobility skills are reduced by something like 75%. All mobility skills have a fairly long traveling time (e.g. GS5 1-1.5 secs).

Most warriors in WvW use -40% condition duration and sometimes another -20% condition duration from runes. Add -33% condition duration from dogged march. So your cripples and chills wont last long.

But again: the warrior is traited for mobility with this setup, so you have to counter this setup to actually stop him. +40% condition duration food is a hard counter. So a 4 sec cripple will last like 2 sec which is more than enough to counter those mobility skills.

Dont expect to counter something without investing.

This is the only mechanic in game that drives me nuts. I don’t mind thieves and stealth, I’ve managed to teach myself how to counter them. But the warrior that can come in, get hit with massive damage/do significant damage himself, lose health to 5%, and still bolt away even as many are chasing and using CC? It’s just a set up for trolling.

The magically fleeing warrior is the only thing that drives me batty in WvW.

Condition reduction should probably just be removed from the game, or at least significantly reduced in effectiveness (like the 40% food becoming, like, 10% or something.)

Otherwise, Poison remains an extremely effective means of dealing with Healing Signet. Of course, this is exactly why Warriors stack condition reduction – Poison ain’t so scary once it only lasts 2 seconds instead of 6.

Mobile build = pathetic damage build. Same situation as perma stealth thief, you can do it, but all that you can in this build – annoy someone. If you managed to lost fight to GS+1h sword+warhorn warrior, you better go PVE.

So why did they increased the cooldown on Ride the Lightning by 166% and reduced the range by 350? Clearly they were too mobile, but it doesn’t even come close to the mobility of warriors nowadays.

The problem is that also Hammer/GS which is very strong even on the offensive side has the potential to get away in 95% of the situations.
The GS alone has huge mobility especially with melandru runes and lemongrass food and this trait.

Rednik, mobility become a “problem” when warrior are losing the fight and run away. Yes there are a lot of skill like cripple, chill etc etc. But when they decide to run, use GS skill, warhorn and got out of range :P

If a class has too much mobility it could be fixed in a way RTL was but better. For example the rush skill. If it was used with a target (doesn’t have to hit – only be used with a target) then you have the standard CD. Otherwise double.
But I would use this mechanic only on classes/skills which really have/give too much mobility because a certain amount of mobility is fun and fine

Consider that ele’s have 4 attunements damage, heal, bunker, and evasion. All warriors get is their weapon skills in this regard.

Because good ele was able to win 1 vs 3, on top on mobility keeping constantly almost every boon in the game, mashing damage abilities non-stop, and healing to full every few seconds?

Warrior don’t have stealth, teleports, pulls, valuable ranged damage (if you take any ranged weapon, you have no mobility anymore) or 4 skill bars. Only thing that he have for gap-closing and/or escape – mobility skills.

Honestly it annoys me, whatever the class, that someone engages a 1v1 thinking that they can gank the target. When it then turns out that the target all of a sudden is better than you expected and you are about to loss, you run away, looking for a easier fight or coming back with more people to gank the target. Just sad really, but some people must think its fun.

Thiefs, eles, engis with + condi duration, etc….always catch my warrior. Hammer/S-WH build standard. Its really isnt that mobile besides sword leap and the other classes have way more than that. The mobile warriors you see are 1v1, and in 1v1 its fair.

Plenty of necros/engis and other classes have Strength traits for +30 condi duration, Runes for condi duration, Giver’s weapons for condi duration, and food for 40 condi duration, which cancels out any -condi the warrior has.

If hes running, it means your winning, just snare and chase. I die all the time to this

I main a warrior and i have no mobility whatsoever. yet i can run away from a fight no problem. I run Mace/Shield and Hammer All i gotta do is use block then Endure Pain and Dolyak Signet and CC them whenever i can by then i should be inside tower or keep.. I do agree with Rednik that “Mobile build = pathetic damage build.” for warriors and thiefs that is. I know warriors are goin to get a nerf :/ i hope its not too bad, i love my build and hate changing it every month or two.

Time to nerf Rush, on the profession that does everything but aoe’s better then Ele.

Every class have high mobile build that are very hard to chase, not only warrior. May be warrior high mobile build are little harder to chase. But that’s fair because they don’t have all the stealth, teleport, clone of other classes. The only reason some people complain is because they encountered high mobile warriors a lot more often than high mobile other classes because 1: warrior is the most popular class, 2: the build is easier to pull off on them.

It’s not so much that they can run away from the pets as it is the pets inability to swing without stopping first so they can never hit anything. Just like you strafe to win 99.9% of all PvE content in this game, you can strafe to beat a Ranger’s pets.

Apparently ANet approves of this as absolutely no progress has been made to make the Ranger’s pet work properly. Still can’t hit moving targets. F2 abilities still don’t go off when pressed. Pets still killed in WvW in seconds due to random AE.

Warrior mobility is hilarious right now. I use mace/shield and GS in WvW, I don’t even use warhorn or signet of rage for access to swiftness, just warriors sprint for 25% movement speed and mobile strikes for the immob break.

I can get as low as ~800 health, with multiple people on me, and still get away so quickly that by the end of my rotation I’m usually already out of combat and have my health regenerating back.

First use signet of stamina (around 0.5 sec cast time) for full cond wipe, shield stance for 3 seconds of damage negation and a 1.5k passive heal with healing signet and adrenal health, switch to GS and immediately whirlwind to stay in evade frames, then bulls rush and GS rush. This covers about 2500 distance, uses 3 movement skills that can all break immobilise, and if used with a stability skill can GUARANTEEE a full escape. If I feel extra fancy I can use rampager form for stability, swiftness and a 900 range leap skill on a 5 second cooldown. That is just insane mobility, considering ele’s had one 20 second 1200 range movement skill and were deemed ‘uncatchable’ before the nerfs.

Back to topic: Yeah, warriors mobility is op(I have 2 warriors on 80 myself). Take Sword/Shield + Greatsword and you have the best mobility in the game. Warriors are loved by ANet at this moment. They are OP in every aspect of the game(that´s why the whole forum is QQ about them and in Lions Arch every second character is a warrior). However I stopped playing my warriors, because they got boring and don´t require much skill(probbaly the lowest skill cap in the game).

Afaik ANet said in the last stream that they know that healing on warriors is op and they will look into it, but they dont wanna rush it. I hope they will nerf the warriors soon or/and buff some other classes(especially elementalists).

You’re right, the other day a high mobility Ele was able to keep its distance even when i went for high mobility on the warrior.

i don’t see why the mobility is that big of a deal. thieves can escape fights just as well and so can good mesmers so the only difference is that you can actually watch the warrior run away instead of him being stealthed.

also any norn on any class can easily escape with snow leopard. snow leopard is so OP and awesome – twice as fast as a GS warrior and has stealth LOL

So here are my thoughs as someone who has leveled a character of every class except mesmer (which is so annoying to level)…

I see people complain a lot about the warrior (specially since the heal on the shouts was buffed – by really not that much). Thing is, in my opinion, the warrior is one of the best balanced classes in this game.

If you go for mobility, you are pretty much useless in a fight. You can bunker up and have heals, but your dps will suck and wont really be an offensive threat. If you spec for coondition clearing, you lose something else. Increase your dps and lose survivability… etc…
Yes, warriors also have ranged wepons, but they suck for group fights and the only “good” skill.

I really find the warrior the funnest class to come up with different builds & style of play depending on your objective.

I’m really sick of seeing all the QQ about warriors, and yes, the healing signet is not that op, very easy to counter…
Again, warriors are very versatile, but cannot have everything at the same time…

Whatever the class & build, there will always be a weakness…

No doubt the warrior is probably the best WvW class right now: high mobility, big HP pool, high armor, tons of control, banner rezzing and excels in every type of play.

The question to me is do they get a nerf or does ANet boost other classes to match them?

my warrior has 3,300 attack without might, 20% crit w/ 40% crit dmg, 3,850 armor, 27k health, -73% CC duration and -40% other condition duration.

yet I have much more fun and fight much better 1vX on my mesmer. so much that i rarely play warrior anymore.

I see people posting that warriors who are mobile don’t do much damage.. WTF are you smoking? Warriors are more mobile than most classes simply by equipping a greatsword…. Leaving them free to equip endure pain or any other utilities they want to equip and just get free movement of a weapon. On my engineer if I want to get away I actually have to waste a freaking utility slot on it as well as make sure I have it traited to get the most out of the leap. On a warrior it comes standard on one of the highest damage weapon sets they have. It needs to be the same way as elementalists RTL was done and require a target. You want to flee? You need to be wasting a utility slot just like everyone else.

no No NO! don’t you realize those engineers need far more nerfs I hope you haven’t forgotten about 100nades, or more broken turrets, or that the thrown elixir U falls through the ground when thrown at uneven terrain, or so many other bugs…I just ask for 1 simple thing please Anet if you could make it so that engineers in all their OPness have to unequip and reequip armor whenever they try to use a kit I think we could b rid of this disgusting profession for good.

I think the problem isn’t the warriors mobility “per se”, the problem is that greatsword has two mobility skills on it. I don’t mind if warriors want to have high mobility and use skills for it, but only if they have to trade off something for it (so using the elite skill that gives them mobility for example instead of the signet or banner).
I play a warrior myself as well and in wvw if you fight a group and get low on health, u can just use 3 and then 5 on gs, break combat and then run back in with full health, while your opponents will stay in combat with your teammates and you don’t have to trade off anything for that, u just have to have a GS.
The mobility is great plus for example when farming as well. I tested this on my different characters and as a warrior it is a lot easier to farm nodes, because he can travel very fast, even if you never swap away from GS (this actually made me think about creating a second warrior just for that purpose of farming).

I think the main skill that should be adapted is rush (5 on GS). This should be a skill that allows the warrior to get INTO combat situation and not to get out of them or to use it out of combat.
—> make it not depending on your running speed or cut the distance. 1200 is too far, it gets you out of reach immediately. If you have +25% speed it’s 1550 atm out of combat, that is insane. Make it 1200 when out of combat, 800 while in combat, etc. no matter if you are affected by swiftness or +25%.
—> rush should ask for a target, so if you have no target, u cannot rush to it. If target is out of reach, cooldown should be higher (just like with RTL for eles).
—> increase cooldown (20 —> 25/30 seconds).

trade this off with some improvements (you have the statistical data to know best how to trade it off):
—> more damage (I would say +50-75% depending on new cooldown)
and an additional change like:
—> additional condition like fire/bleed/torment that applies to several opponents in reach while damage is single target.
—> additional boon on warrior (might?) – boon also applies when target out of reach.
—> transfer 2 conditions to opponent – two conditions removed if target out of reach.

Rush does good damage but doesn’t hit the target 90% of the time and its not because they avoid it or dodge. You have Fiery Greatsword for better mobility and greatsword doesn’t come with a cc like Ride the Lightning into Updraft. Also why is this thread necro’d.

At times it seems to miss the target and you end up rushing past them even when you are clearly in range.

This is ONE BUILD. Designed to run, designed for nothing more.

This build:
- Does low damage
- Has low CC
- Warrior’s as a class have low in-combat mobility (this build is land speed)
- Suffers from bugs (3 second character freeze on weapon switch)
- Sword 2 leap rarely hits the target, read almost never.

- GS 5 ‘rush’ misses the target 98.1337% of the time. It either runs past the target and fails, or attacks at a random space of air, it is a broken piece of garbage.

- Bull’s Charge (if picked) is also bugged, it flies past the target, leaving you outside melee range.

That is 3 skills these warriors have that literally cannot be used to actually hurt the enemy, they are only there for moving distance.

Effectively it is an attrition build, every class has them, every class can beat them.

And still you complain about one low risk low reward build even though it is full of bugs and doesn’t help anyone but themselves.

There are bigger issues plaguing this game than one bug filled troll build. (aside from the plethora of bugs associated with this class that need fixing of course)

The only people that should be complaining about this build, are warriors who are sick of the bugs this class has to endure with every single day because anet won’t devote time to fix them. No other class has to deal with as many (if any) bugs as the warrior.

And to finish this post like a jerk:
L2P, get good, lift your game.

Nice 2 month bump out of no where.

This is ONE BUILD. Designed to run, designed for nothing more.

This build:
- Does low damage
- Has low CC

I’ve never missed on bulls charge or the GS5 charge as well, so I wouldn’t call them bugged.

I agree, there are bigger issues plaguing the game rather than a Warriors mobility. The warrior is the least of Anet’s problems, every other class needs a lot more attention than the warrior at the moment.

As someone put, if they are running, they are not helping their team in anyway what so ever. But on the flip side, they need their cooldowns increased, much like Ride the Lightning if it misses it’s target.
