It seems to me like it has. I checked my settings and it is “Player limit Highest”and “Player detail lowest”as it has been since culling was removed. But over about the last week it feels like culling is back. Every zerg fight is “oh thats not too bad, they have about 30 and we have about 30”, then another 20 players appear in the middle of the fight, then another 20 more, then another 20 more. Similar to how it was during culling. I have noticed a reduction in skill lag during the same period, so was there a stealth patch?

Culling is gone as he said, but I’m still noticing a loading issue when somebody (mostly thieves since I encounter them the most) comes out of stealth and attacks. This isn’t just in WvW, and it isn’t culling. I can still see people miles away and all, but sometimes they just don’t load in instantly. This also happens in spvp. I’ve never seen it happen in PvE, though I never PvE.

Sometimes build site also doesn’t load entirely unless you get unto a certain distance. You can see the siege from far away, but you’ll only see the build site if you get closer…

No issue for this one tho, just saying…

Not sure, but something is different in the last days, maybe the distance you can see players or something. But not a problem.

I didn’t notice any culling all weekend, even in enormous fights. I also haven’t had “culling” problems with stealth for a while now.

I’ve been running player limit and detail on low, and never have any problems.

To the OP, is what you’re experiencing simply your PC taking its time to load the models, despite the fact that name plates are apparent (though blended in to all the rest, aka unnoticible)?

I don’t PVP but I’ve seen similar things at dragon zergs, nameplates appearing many seconds before the character model, other times there seem to be few player then suddenly a huge number just ‘appear’.

I have both settings to ‘lowest’ and have no issues with not seeing enemies (their name tags that is, couldn’t care less about the actual models taking up my valuable resources).

Culling is gone and the game runs so much smoother I can actually record our battles now instead of not recording and still having my fps go to 0.

Yes, I agree. It may not be ‘culling’ but there is certainly a problem with people getting in stealth, comming out of stealth and getting back in stealth immediatly.

But let’s face it, stealth has always been OP and Anet has never done anything serious about it, so I do not expect them to do anything now.

Dueled a few Mesmers and Thieves last night. Didn’t notice any sort of culling/rendering issue. It’s been flawless for me since the new system was implemented.
