Most people thought the new transfer restrictions and prices were going to come into effect at reset today; the start of season 2. So my guild transferred mostly on Wednesday to avoid the ~2 week lockout.
GG wasted 1000 gems, since the new transfer prices took effect this morning sometime.
The lack of PR and clarifications for wvw, especially related to the start of seasons, is a little upsetting to say the least.

The 2 week lockout may have started when the price changed too so it might not have been a waste. Was it changed for NA during EU reset perhaps?

It does very clearly state very exact dates as to when the sales take place.

Guys, the tournament for NA hasn’t started yet! NA reset is still like 2 hours away.

Indeed they said that we would be locked out of WvW for 2 weeks if we transferred during the season. I want my 1000 gems NOW!

Same issue with me. I’m not going to blame Anet because they clearly specified in the text and I missed it. My initial thought was that prices would change once the season started which appeared to be what they indiciated except for the part that the prices change the day before.

Here is the direct quote from the news release:
*Prices will be based on rankings at the start of the tournament, March 28.
As a part of these changes, we will also implement new restrictions to WvW access after transferring worlds. These restrictions will go into effect on March 28.

Where exactly does it say that there will be a window between the start of the tournament and 12:01am on March 28th that you can transfer for 1400 gems and not get locked out of wvw for 1week + remainder of matchup?

The most direct interpretation of the text is that restrictions start on march 28th at 12:01 am, and that prices will go into effect at the beginning of tournament (wvw reset time, 6pm server) on march 28th.

What really happened is that pricing went into effect at EU reset time, whereas restrictions went into effect at NA reset time.

So yes, I can read, and no it was not explicitly stated at what time of day either the pricing or the restrictions would go into effect.

Maybe file a support ticket. You’re not the only NA player who interprets “start of the tournament” as NA reset.

Well how could it be NA reset, when people from EU can transfer to NA?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to have it at the earliest reset when there are multiple?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to specifiy that kind of thing, so people don’t waste 1000 gems when they didn’t have to?

Even worse is that transfer restrictions didn’t even apply at reset, since we had guildies transfer after reset and not be hit by restrictions.

ya ppl were able to transfer after without restrictions. i filled out a ticket. i’ve had a few guildies get refunded. think anet realizes its a “their bad” moment

^ Exactly, same here. If it was just gold then w/e but many people used real $ to transfer.

Don’t wait til the last minute to transfer. Maybe you should’ve abandoned FA when I made the post on these forums about how you were going to be in silver, no matter what (after reset last weekend).

But, no, some of you waited too long, thinking you could beat a glicko rating system, that couldn’t even drop SoR to bronze as fast as it should’ve.

He’s not regretting that he transferred too late. He’s regretting that he transferred too early.

He thought that he would be locked out of WvW for 2 weeks if he transferred after the Season started. To avoid that, he paid 1000 extra gems to transfer before the Season began. It turns out that even if you transfer after the Season starts, you won’t be locked out, so it would have been better for him to wait till the prices dropped during the Season and transferred later.

Submitted support ticket. Got refund. So did my guildies.
