I just got one of these as a drop in the pavilion. No, not the recipe, an actual account bound device to try out. It is exactly a one time use mesmer portal.

In effect, a perma-stealth thief can now hide as long as he wants and then let the zerg back in ALL BY HIMSELF, and there is NOTHING the rest of us can do about it. A proper mesmer sweep is hard enough, but now we’ll have to deal with thieves doing the job of a mesmer.

So can the rest of us have Ash Legion Spy kits again? Probably not. Great.

Oh great… with the pathing bug allowing guardians and thieves to port on keep/sm walls(towers are safe) this device sounds like a disaster in the making.

And how long do you think it will take until there is a working hack?

It should work in wvw its not like the portal gun where you could shoot the portal. Hell the only reason I even played my mesmer so long was because of portal. There is no such thing as a perma stealth thief anymore that was an exploit in which a thief could use a keep wall to stealth it has since been fixed.

Maybe you should make a thread complaining about hacks then. If a player wants to hack they can always just fly over the walls into a keep without the portal device and cap it that way.

you kidding right? permastealth still exists anand thieves are still trolling keeps and no portal should not work in wvw.

Doubtful, it’s much easier to teleport hack than to make a skill work that they simply don’t allow to work. Then again, I’m not gonna try.

Not so. I’ve got a lvl 80 thief and I’ve just re-traited for perma-stealth.
With a bit of practice it’s perfectly possible to keep up a sequence of Heartseeker leaps through a pistol Black-powder field combo that keep you permanently stealthed.

It takes practice and it’s hard work – but perfectly do-able.

well, its not exactly hard to be aware of a thief ‘stealthing’ in that fashion and very easy to break it

Meh, I’m not keen on playing thief – and it’s seriously hard work to keep it up consistently and accurately without a nasty ‘revealing’ accident.

But – I don’t really think it would be easy to counter when done by someone with skill. You can build up several seconds of stealth before hitting your target, stealth away by any of the other normal means, then go back into your perma-sequence at a safe distance.
If someone does happen to spot the BP, they have little time to AoE that spot before you’ve finished the sequence and you’re off to another. (Only an idiot would spam it in one place). If someone does get lucky and hit the BP, then you just back away using the stealth you already have. You don’t actually sit in the BP so you won’t get hit yourself.

Either way – the fact remains that it’s possible.

wat? I made a brand new thief, took him to sPvP and after about 5 mins of playing around with traits was able to maintain stealth indefinitely. I feel sorry for you if you think pressing “522252225222” is hard work.

my thief friend said perma stealth thieves are the easiest thing in the game (plays 4 classes) and took a couple minutes to master. also took me about 5 mins to easily perma stealth.

That’s pretty good! Took me like 10 min. to get it down. Suppose the skill ceiling is just higher for some folks.

D/P builds are effectively perma-stealth and they undid (by accident is my guess) the bug that allowed thieves to stealth on doors/siege.
