Waypointing to Garrison while its contested.
Unless you witnessed a bug, the only way to waypoint in is to do it when the timer runs down. There is a window of opportunity for waypointing to a contested waypoint, but it’s a small window, and requires coordination (someone watching the timer letting everyone else know to try it.) You can’t just keep waypointing in as a constant stream though. The timer resets and you have to wait again. This gives the attackers time to deal with the current influx and capture the objective. This probably won’t be fixed until they figure out a way to fix the issue of “it only takes one person to contest a capture point.”

It could also be that you killed the keep lord and did not bother to re-contest after repel went off. Also, the only way to know if a keep is contested if if the keep symbol has the contested swords. Enemy waypoints will always appear contested to you.

Not it was not a mesmer portal. We were wiping the same 50 people over and over for 5 minutes long. And eventually we lost too many people to fight back. They deffinetely came out of the waypoint. I even ran up to the waypoint, and got myself killed there just to confirm it.

Unless it was bugged somehow for that fight, Gorefiend is probably right. To contest a location, the structure itself must be under attack, meaning walls/gates taking damage. It is entirely possible (and I’ve seen it happen before) that no one in your zerg actually knows this or was paying attention.
Next time you notice the enemy streaming out of their waypoint, instead of suiciding on the spawn, try hitting a door and see if they stop. You can also tell by looking at the map, if the icon for the location itself (not the WP icon) has white swords, it’s contested and WP should not work except for a few seconds between defend event cycles.

once you are in the lordsroom, make sure u keep contesting the gate as the wp will stay open after u entered lordsroom…you are not hitting a gate anymore….

We have had this issue twice now. We have only attempted to do this twice. We came in through watergate and took the back door. Once into the lord room several people ran up to the front door and attacked it fearing the same issue as the first time would occur (even though we hit the doors last time too and it still kept coming). Eventhough it was 100% contested and we were attacking every game possible and they just kept on coming in.
Every time we have had this we did a large highly communicated attack with a zerg of atleast 60 people and over 50 of them on a teamspeak server and vent.
Surely i cannot be the first person to complain about this. I can find several videos about it on youtube.

Also, did anyone in your 60 man zerg record the second attempt? If you were concerned enough to be prepared to run and hit the other doors you should have been recording all of it too.

Is this different than what was mentioned above… the fact that after the timer reaches 0:00, you have about 2s when the WP is uncontested, where you can map in?
If it is, I would contend that the mechanism is okay, as I am against a gate that melts in seconds from golems. It’s like buying victory. :P

Interesting, the first video really doesnt show much, the second is crazy but was posted Sept. 24th so not going to help.
You really need to get a recording of this latest event up and submit it to Anet. If there is a way to do this and it is not a server-side glitch that happens once in a while that is horrible/amazing.

In the first video the waypoint is not contested. The white swords are not on the blue keep icon.
I can vouch for this – SBI was able to hold Garrison with only about ten people against a massive golem rush because we could keep WPing back in.

I have certainly seen this before, from both sides. Personally, I believe it is related to the bug with the inner gate (from the watergate) when it does not upgrade to reinforced. From my experiance, hitting that inner gate will also not contest the keep; severat times I have been able to waypoint into my home garrison while the inner gate is being burnt down, I think, because it is bugged. And as the outer is down and no other gates are being hit, garrison shows as uncontested because of the bug with the inner.

Making a waypoint uncontested via hacks would require modification of server side code (probably, I mean, since I don’t know the software specifically, but yeah, I’m on the internet, so don’t believe what I say anyway, those internet people aren’t to be trusted).
No, this happens all the time. I don’t know how to do it. I’ve read people saying you just spam the waypoint and it will eventually spawn you on there. I haven’t been able to get it to work myself. It is either a bug or hack. At times I get this with 40+ players spawning in like this so my guess is its a bug. Id hate to think there are hackers on a map, let alone 40+.
there might be a bug at work here however in both i didnt even see an event to take or defend so the keep wasnt contested and why they could wp back in

Waypoints are currently the most powerful upgrade in the game but there are a few issues.
They are only inactive when the defense quest is active, are you guys planning on disabling them slightly longer than the defense quest to allow attackers to keep the defenders from spawning there just as the defense quest lapses?
For example under the current system I can count down on voip the defense quest and spawn in everyone right as it hits zero and before attackers can reflag the keep.
This is definitely a bug. I’ll see about leaving the rally points disabled for a few extra seconds after the event has completed. That way it just stays disabled if the event starts back up.
Just to calm nerves I wanted to bring this up again.
This is something that we would like to adjust, but doing so could remove one of the larger advantages of having the waypoint upgrade. With my mentioned adjustment it would also mean that one player would be able to lock down a location indefinitely. Changes to how this system works will need to be thoroughly designed and tested and as such will require time. I would not expect to see changes to how this works soon.

As some people have already said there might be a bug that is allowing people to way point in. However in the second video you showed the keep is NOT contested until about 3 minutes in, which is also when people stop way pointing. Just because you guys are “in” the keep does not make it contested. Got to hit those walls and doors.
