I haven’t played in around 6 months due to life circumstances and I returned recently to play some sPvP and WvW (I always played for these game modes).

I only just discovered that infused and attuned rings with the bonus 2 slots can now take any infusion, not only agony. However, the only way to get ascended rings attuned and infused requires currency and materials only obtainable via fractals..

So, in order to maximise stat potential in WvW, a game mode that I basically play the game for, I’m forced to grind hours of PvE content that I’m just not interested in?

I understand this probably isn’t a big deal for a lot of people and pve-ers, and stats aren’t everything, but given that there is a clear divide between players and which content they choose to play, it just seems really counter intuitive that Anet would force players into grinding content they aren’t interested in so they can reach their max potential in the content they do play.

So, do you think we could potentially be looking at getting an alternative method for WvW-ers or a reward track to get these materials?

Attuning a ring isn’t really a grind. You just need to get the second fractals mastery then buy Agonized Essence for 24s. The other mats are bought from Miyani or TP.

Ah really? I got the impression from the wiki that all the mats needed for attunement/infusion were only obtainable from the vendor in Mistlock after doing mastery/fractals. I’ll have a look into that though thanks

Ah really? I got the impression from the wiki that all the mats needed for attunement/infusion were only obtainable from the vendor in Mistlock after doing mastery/fractals. I’ll have a look into that though thanks

One slot if through atunning, which is the easy one to get. The other slot is through infusing, which require you to get the mist essences from the fractals.

Its the infusing that gets pricey unless an infused ring happens to drop. Once it does drop, chances are it isn’t the stat set you want anyway…. Oh to be able to change stats similar to ascended weapons / armor via forge……

It’s just 15 stat total for infused rings plus back item. You’re not a victim of ‘being forced to grind pve’.

So don’t infuse them if it’s too hard.

Go capture the enemies bloodlust, which you conveniently find in wvw, for more stat points. Boom, done.

• 1 Philosopher’s Stone (Miyani & her twins sell 6 for a spirit shard).
• The ring you want to attune.

Infusing is much, much more expensive & I only recommend it for people doing high-end fractals (who will end up with some/all of the mats). You need 3 tiers of the Mist Essences. Those drop in fractals, but the same vendor also sells them for a combination of coin + fractal relics.
