What would be nice are Masteries like in HoT:
- Autoloot
- Glider for WvW cause why not
- Commandertag achievable through WvW Rang
- WvW only Skins/Banner/Minis/backpacks
- Ascended and Legendary achievable from playing WvW only
- More tactical option for the commander and his raid group (point on Map and draw where the route is going)
- Maybe a slot reserve for guild groups / or public raids for a border last only 2 hours (only 1 or 2 per week)
- Scouts need a reward, so when scouts are on the map and make a good job, let people give them a vote and after getting a good amount of positive votes, let them get an extra WvW rank chest or something like that. And give Scouts a better possibility to call things out maybe with masteries after many good votes they can mark things on the map for the whole borderland.
- maybe make random invasion events so the system calls out randomly a keep or tower and if you defend it successfully, or take it successfully you get an extra reward.
- If a zerg hit a certain number of players, make it visible on the map (>50 or so)

yet i do agree with you gw2 needs to add something on wvw that makes guild want and defend, hold etc, or even make players want to play that game mode.
The problem with castles/towers and wvw is…. well its to farmable, and besides a ppt tick for a useless tier ladder i dont see any reason to do it, everything is this game is getting way to easy…

I would like to see unique stuff on WvW, and less karma flipity so guild could basicly make keeps their “precisous” insert Smeagol voice in that word
What if instead lvl reward, theres is a system based on WXP and WP, items are selected as a prize and can be only obtained from the guild holding the castle, each tower/keep have their own items, from a special merchant, and thus each merchant having a different pool of items, being WvW skins for armor/weapon, t4-t6 mat crates, precursors and ascended gear, panic black market supply for tower (airship delivery) etc. ?
Items obtained via that merch are automatically tunned for that player char/account cant be tradable nor sold on BLT.

This would imply guild would had the tower/keep for a very long period duration, each 7-8h would imply a X War Point, being each reward price based on item.
Then the price for this prize is reduced by X WP(War Point ), and WXP from that Guild.

Well it is clear at this point we need something. New maps are all well and good, but as it sits if you want any real rewards you go to PvE land or PvP for the tracks.
It seems to me that at this point the lack of attention to this game mode is just laughable. We will have to see if after Hot is released they live up to their word of making “improvements” as they said they would. In all honesty though they will have to have a community discussion with US or it could just be golem week pt2.
New skins are a must at this point as are various titles, but until they do anything at all I won’t hold my breath.

That is a very good point, was using a ideia of old mmo that uses time gated pvp on pve and has a system similar to this :P, since it would be a long WP system they could not farm it with karma train.. but yeah they would join wvw to complain…
I would prefer that towers/keep could had new mechanics to the guild that owns it, but some players would call it pve elements to.
OP is right in the sense that the game is in dire need of a rewards system but his implementation is a bit off. Implement the RvR rewards system from DAOC with a few changes and WvW would change for the better. Some of the kids here who are against change A) think GW2 was the first game to invent WvW/RvR. Don’t know what a real WvW/RvR game is.
However, when the one of the devs says that none of his player base just does WvW only, when no real effort has been put into WvW outside of some kitten tier event that broke WvW for a week (Golem event I’m looking at you), and all the other fails that come with WvW, I really don’t think we’re going to get anything at all.

because it doesn’t really shows the best players but just the most active ones
So if there is going to be a leaderboard it should be for win/loss ratio not sure how they would implement that in wvw.
With WvWvW’s core design, allowing actual rewards and “status” means rewarding coverage and anything linked to Wxp and capping is rewarding ktrainers, including EotM.
If they don’t rework WvWvW then new skins, leaderboards etc (including the new map) will be like slapping a new coat of paint on a house with a crumbling foundation and busted plumbing.
i always thought that wvw bought items were restricted from being resold in the TP or being salvageable or mystic forged because anet didnt want wvw items from flooding the market and destroying the market.
but isnt silver waste farming already doing this? 100 gold average an hour? comparable to speed dungeon runs i believe
will allowing wvw armor to flood the market really make things worse than silver waste farming? why so much benefits in pve and pvp but so much restrictions in wvw?

Well, WvW exclusive armor skins would be a nice idea. And reward tracks would be nice.
Again, WvW is really the only activity you can play a lot of, and get absolutely nothing to show for it beyond a rank that only your enemies can see and probably don’t care about besides putting a target on you. A lot of people that spend lots on upgrades and superior siege don’t even make enough from the very game mode they are playing. This is stupid. The worst is the feeling is that the more important the things are that you do, the less you get rewarded; if that’s not a slap in the face, I don’t know what is. Someone playing pve (even with expensive food) and pvp can sustain themselves naturally as long as they have a pulse.
Yea, I get that a lot of people don’t play this game mode for rewards, but why is every other mode able to be played for enjoyment and other stuff? Fun and prizes are mutually exclusive. And no, don’t give me that crap about “skill” or whatever. I want my “I defended my keep for 5 hours and all I got was this lousy t-shirt” style reward.
It doesn’t matter if people don’t care about rewards. What matters is Arenanet cares about WvW, and giving them more reasons to care would be better than giving them less than they already need. I think working out a good solution to this can give the entire game mode a bit more polish and fun for some segments for the population, like it does for pvp.
Also, as for leaderboards; I wouldn’t take them seriously. Then again, I take no leaderboards seriously in this game, but I don’t really mind fluff if it doesn’t take much effort to implement.

Technically yes, but since you don’t actually need to play wvw to get it, it’s not that impressive. Plus the heavy version isn’t even a unique skin!

And yes lets hope those PVEers come! Cause we all started somewhere!

Theres no one to WvW with, our timezones are empty
We dont want those PVEers they don’t know what they are doing

Train the ones that care. Get them to stay, give consistent! Good! rewards. They will then come, stay, and not just pop in and out for events.
