I don’t think variation is necessarily bad, as long as the effects are symmetrical. If Yaks are being harassed extra hard by a certain update, then servers that react by putting more emphasis on protecting Yaks will benefit, which is something of an added dimension of strategy.
I’m not saying the implementation currently is flawless (Toxic alliance in EBG nodes are the most annoying thing ever), but I don’t think the “get your PvE out of my WvW” attitude is necessarily right all the time either.
I don’t think you will hear many WvW players argue, its a pretty basic concept, if we want to PvE they have a number of maps we can go to in order to do so. I still think if they continue on this route they should open the flood gates for us (WvW) people to go into PvE and start ganking, the tears would be endless and maybe just maybe it might sink into the heads of Anet.
Well it does make sense.
Currently there is little to no reason to guard the dollies unless the enemy have roamers on the map. With these kinds of updates (you are a month late to the party btw) they “force” you to actually bother with the dollies.

We lost a 10 man havoc team who got jumped just as they cleared the toxic area in the ogres. Conditions and hallucinations gave the opposing team a hell of an edge. You shouldn’t have to walk dolyaks from your keep to the first tower in your borderlands when you own 90% of the map. If theres a yak sniper its usually sorted out fast and a guard added for a few walks, not 24/7 yak patrol.
Start playing the game lad rather than just using the forums to practise arguing with people.

All I got from that was a terrible havoc team, general laziness and unwillingness to adapt.

PvE content will continue to make appearances in WvW. Learn to accept it and take advantage of it. Not to say I approve of it – it doesn’t belong in WvW and is a slap in the face.

Wait, so you have 10 people that decided to do the PvE stuff (which is in no way or form needed) and now you whine about there being PvE stuff in WvW because you got owned?
I am also rather sure that the conditions and hallucinations would also effect the opposing team, so that isn’t really a good reason either.
If you want to make sure your dollies are safe you have to escort them, simple as that.
I have personally spent HOURS walking dollies back and forth simply to get towers and keep upgraded. It is a part of the game, and now we are “forced” to defend them even without any enemies in sight.

Yea it’s understandable. I was shocked when i noticed one of my servers dolyaks died to some Living story PvE mobs. I dont want to be like all the others with the “if i wanted PvE i’d goto dam PvE map, WvW is for WvW”. I find WvW to be an open combat PvE enviroment with objectives. I definitely would like to see the PvE implemented a bit better though like maybe NPC’s walking around in the ruins or something. I’m a WvW solo/group roamer so i’m not speaking of a zerg’ers perspective when saying this. Change always has potential to be for the better.
I suggested a couple weeks back that the way to include the LS updates in WvW would be, for example, to switch some actually relevant NPCs like camp guards or keep lords for LS enemies, to shake things up.
Of course, in best ANet tradition they took a nice basic concept (more LS integration of WvW) and executed it in the worst way possible, polluting WvW with mobs and events no one cares about except in one way: annoyance.
I find the “PVE-events” annoying, too. I still don’t see any reason to take them out of WvW though. It actually makes the Living-Story more … living.
Also it’s not as if only one server were affected, so there’s nothing unfair about the events.
When roaming in WvW you shouldn’t only concentrate on your direct opponent but also keep an eye out for bigger groups. If you get killed while doing PvE, it’s your own fault.
Mobs in WvW are neccessary. Especialy aggro ones, to make you aware of where you are fighting and the dangers of getting the environment involved. However, Living Story elements like Toxic Alliance in WvW is just plain bad. This should not happen. It just looks silly to have game story elements in another “dimension” of sorts.
That said, I like the danger that these elements pose. The danger should be kept while eliminating the silly story stuff. Some of us would like to spend the great majority of our time in WvW but currently can’t because there’s not enough to do if you aren’t running with the zerg. Capping supply camps and all of that gets tiring. I very much welcome real threats from sources other than enemy players.
YES to dangerous/interesting PvE in WvW, NO to Scarlet’s Personal- er, Living Story.

I think you are deliberately misconstruing his answer.
What most people want removed is the pve content, ie anything that is not a guard or other npc that has direct relevance to wvw (debate is out on whether this should include hyleks, etc) and more especially the recent infestation of LS into wvw, which almost no one wants (or needs).
I am aware of that.
But claiming that PvE have nothing to do in WvW is quite silly, seeing as there have been PvE as a part of WvW since release.
And people HAVE been shouting about getting access to living world stuff in WvW, so this simply shows that no matter what they do there will always be people that don’t like it.

I don’t defend the toxic offshoots in mercenary camps or any other instance of them for that matter. But after reading the OP what I see is “Oh kitten we actually have to do something about the dolyaks now, this is really bad” besides as long as mercenary camps are a thing PvE is forever part of WvW.
This is just putting extra pressure in an aspect of WvW that was always there… if you can’t or don’t want to deal with supply lines then don’t play WvW. Yeah disrupting supply is usually limited to taking camps and emptying depos on flip but the toxic enemies attacking the caravans is no different than a group of players doing it systematically (the fact that players rarely go out of their way to do it instead of taking a camp is not really relevant).
