So Arena net how about instead of putting some random person who knows nothing about WvW and it’s problems as forum specialist, and how about you make me or Someone who knows what WvW is? That might just improve WvW instead of kicking us while we are down. To be truthful, That was a screw you WvW kinda move Anet. Because anyone could come to forum and be like:
Oh hey WvW match ups seem like a problem, maybe a bit of server unbalance too.

Any takers?

Or someone that is serious about the position and wants to do his best? Give him a chance.

Stop being a kitten and encourage someone that will dedicate their own time for free and is willing to help the community instead of flaming and complaining and making things toxic?

Or how about you put your money where your mouth is and applied when Anet was actually accepting them rather than blowing hot air now after the fact?

I have nothing against the guy. But I don’t expect anything from him. For me he is just another “scarecrow” in the long list of devs/community managers that came and went here. I am so disillusioned the only thing that can make me change my view point is… actual results. I think most of us old timers are way past the “heh, they will fet fooled by empty words again” state.

Well what i am saying by this is that how about Arena Net needs listens to the WvW community for once. I see what he was trying to do and i respect that, but they way he presented him self was as if GW2 was a new game and there might be some problems in the game.

WvW has been in ‘trouble’ for a while now and finally someone has stepped up, but as Marmatt has said:

“by allowing more active feedback based on the communities responses. I, myself, have been WvW’ing for a very long time and was, for quite a while, a commander. I understand everyone has their own concerns they want brought up, and i will do my best to make sure those concerns are heard. It feels he has been living under a rock, by not knowing any issues about WvW and it seems like something ANet would do to ‘calm’ the WvW side of the GW2 forums. To be fair the first time i saw that post i laughed, i laughed so hard because i was crying inside. This was because this attempt was so lame, and stupid.

If i could have 3 Questions answered by the Anet WvW team (if there is one) these are the questions i would ask:

Wow there is a WvW team?
Have you Been looking at the forums lately?
Are you willing to take the advice of players of WvW into consideration when editing WvW?

If these Questions can be answered with Yes then all the hate and complaints on the WvW froums will be gone and someone like Marmatt will not be hated on like he has been.

It’s just Anet are tryharding to kick all the players with competitive mindset from WvW and push them into their #eSportsWannabe pvp for which living proof is eotm and the new map coming with the expansion – pve maps.

Poor Marmatt Give the guy a chance people and see how it works out geeze….

Thats why there has been next to no reds the past few months in these forums.

Some people seem to bash anything they try, i know ive been negative/sarcy in the past too but i embrace this and will see whats coming out of it.

Marmatt dont let the bashers and whiners get to you, keep it up!

Nothing against the guy, but the “highly engaged community members” bit made me laugh.

I also don’t expect anything to really change.

Might I inquire as to why all of you that complain about the choice didn’t apply for the position yourselves? Since clearly you all seems to feel that you are much more qualified for the position it would only make sense for ArenaNet to chose you instead, right?

My guess would be:

1. Most of us check only this forum and the updates, so we didn’t even know this thing existed.
2. Most of us have at least 2-3 infractions for mentioning cheats/hacks/matchup threads/GvG. Heck I even once got infracted for… I don’t remember already, something “sexual”, because I posted “Aww, you got d/p-ed by thieves?” in a Dagger/Pistol whine thread.
3. Now to the main point – most of us just don’t believe this will result in anything, than just another “let’s pretend we communicate” figurehead.

I think no matter who the WvW “specialist” was – he’d get the same treatment. Well of course if he had remarkable WvW history(lots of game hours – little achievment points, many wvw ranks/kills/etc) he’d get our respect, but still get the same “yearite, let’s communicate, lol” treatment.

How do you know anything about what he does or does not know? And then you stroke your own ego in the process implying you know better than he does based on nothing? Sit down, shut up, and see how this plays out.

Just an FYI, They added forum specialists to a bunch of different forums. This isn’t an attack on WvW and it isn’t an assault on your competence. He applied, he got the position. When his term expires try applying yourself if you think you’ll do a better job.

@Pavel. You do not have the slightest idea why most folks did or didn’t do anything. Speak for yourself if you don’t mind. There is no “us” in your decisions. I for one e check the dev tracker every time I visit the forums. As well as the news and announcement section. They posted it in news and announcements so if you missed the announcement of that news, it is in you and not us.

• must live in the USA and be age 18 or older, for legal reasons
• must have a Guild Wars 2 forum account in good standing with a history that includes minimal, if any, warnings or infractions

You know, a LOT of WvW players got infractions during the “Matchup-threads” era, then during the “no-word about hackers” era (I mean you said in a thread that you saw a hacker and you got infracted).

Marmatt is just the target from an angry community that gets very little from Anet. The WvW community wants results not empty promises time and time again. We are the red headed step child that gets abused.
When you enjoy WvW even in it’s distorted state of brokenness any real help and solutions is all we want. But in reality all we get is the empty abyss of silence.

Marmatt was on the right track but Anet needs to listen to the community instead of using simple solutions like this to try and silence the situation. Anet knows the problem as it is complained about every day, So why don’t they stop buggering about and do something about this amazing game that they have made.

tldr version:

• Doesn’t apply to become a WvW Forum specialist
• Makes a thread complaining about not being chosen to be a WvW Forum Specialist

I don’t really care who the specialist is, it’s not my call to make, or yours. After all, how many hours/kills/forum posts does one need in WvW before they know what’s needed. It’s not like the WvW meta has changed with any balance patch.

As long as the specialist communicates to the players more than what the WvW devs have in the past it’s a plus with me.

Not sure karma training in EOTM instead of actually fighting players is any sort of qualification for anything WvW related. However with that said, I suppose it is better than the absolute lack of any kind of communication ANET has given WvW.

Of course, this is all garbage anyways to try and make it look like something is being done. We all know that they have no WvW devs or desire to improve things.

That’s one of the reasons it’s upsetting that they chose someone that had never posted in the WvW forums before. I’m worried he will occasionally make posts because he feels he needs to, which us much better than what we’ve had, but there are many people on this forum that are much more passionate about the subject and would devote much more of themselves to the job.

When was there a chance to apply to become one? Forgive me for asking, I’m curious because I never saw anything on the forums about it. Unless it was several months ago or something?
