Exactly WHAT are Arenanet up to? Since “Season 1” ended they have ensured that Aurora Glade remain completely and utterly outmatched. We are rank 12-13, yet not ONCE have we been matched against peers, every single match up has been against rank 2 to 9. You are completely and utterly demoralizing our server, and people are leaving and stopping bothering to play the game because of it. What use is trying when we don’t stand a snowballs chance in hell against such high ranked servers who just walk all over us all the time.
Come on Arenanet, get your act together and sort this mess out. It has become absolutely no fun even bothering to try to play WvW. No one enjoys being pulped constantly, where pre-season we had times when we actually did well, now, no matter how hard we try, we are not going to succeed against the BLOBS we are constantly encountering. We are consistently outmanned and outgunned because of some Arenanet mess up. Please stop destroying the game for us. We love our game, we love WvW, but right now it is no fun when we can get nowhere.
So instead you would enjoy playing against empty zones and karma training everything like a boss? The last weeks against piken etc. have been a good thing only minus is the players forcing the megazergs to destroy anets gw1 engine and rip every piece of enjoyability out of wvw.
Gunnars Hold have had it the same but we just embraced it as an oppurtunity to get respect from these bigger servers by not giving up. In fact im pretty sure weve had it worse then AG who from what i understand are a fairly stacked server right now anyway?
the OP has a point, this is getting ridiculous, in the last 13 weeks, we have:
fought gold league servers 16 times
fought silver league servers 10 times
fought bronze league servers 0 times
on top of all that, we haven’t been green for any of those 13 weeks and we also haven’t won any of those weeks either.
I don’t really mind fighting gold league servers, but 16 in 13 weeks, no thanks :L
There’s a bright side though, Piken and Baruch are brilliant fun to fight, I’ve had some epic moments fighting against them.
I wish we could all have balanced Match-Ups but it seems it won’t happen in most cases. Some weeks Desolation has been matched up against “Gold League” Servers which we’ve have no chance against post-Season, even Augury Rock who we beat during the holidays now have superior coverage – it’s quite pointless to worry about trying to compete and defend/upgrade stuff honestly.
Then we’ve had some easy weeks where we’ve been able to Karma Train, which honest get’s old fast.

I agree with OP, always check the match up site and see Aurora Glade being matched up with realms +7 ranks higher then them frequently, this is ofc a bad matchup system and no fun at all being outblowed everytime. OP not asking for being in match up with bronze realms, but more competitive ones, like +1-2 ranks -1-2-3 ranks

You did, didn’t you, so, you got what you wanted.
True, the guilds on AG aren’t complaining. My loot scroll bar is still catching up from friday. And the guilds claimed to go for fights, which they do.
But AG is a server with a lot of strong guilds, these guilds boosted the server higher than were it belongs. Because traditionally AG had terrible coverage and a very low amount of bambis. This gives us often a primetime tick of 300+ but at night we sometimes go even as low as 0.
I agree with the OP, AG has had match ups good for the strong guilds. But bambis and commanders are getting demotivated. Most don’t even bother logging in beside primetime because we don’t have the numbers to cap anything besides camps. Sometimes you need a good strong win for the moral.

I have to agree with the OP. She is not asking for karma train runaway wins, just the chance of actually being matched against ranks where AG actually stands a chance, after a good fight, of actually maybe, winning or coming close, now and then. Unlike Desolation, who are Gold League rank, given they did not lose even ONE week in the first season match-ups, Aurora Glade did a random of a few wins and close matches. I do not think she intends being matched against Bronze League, just against a fair set of peers.
The constant undermining of morale in this manner is no fun for anyone, especially not the dwindling number of Commanders, who already take a load of flack from people who refuse to work as a team, insult them viciously and openly, and then blame them, despite the commanders working their respective butts off, when the few on the map lose, because against Gold League servers we are a.most continually out manned.
Good on you OP for having the courage to actually stand up and say what just about everyone on the server currently feels.
I get what you mean in terms of the Big picture, you guys are great to fight against especially during prime time despite Desolation’s own lack of Guilds – we relish the challenge even though most of the time you overrun us.
I’m thinking what kind of Match-Up would suit Deso itself right now where it would be an week with good fights and a close Match-Up that lasts longer than a weekend.
I guess FSP would be a good Match-up for AG but I’m not sure about someone like Abaddon’s Blob.
Is there even a possibility of Match-Ups where it’s not so one-sided thanks to Coverage?
I don’t think anyone would swap for the old Match-Up system which led to stagnant Tiers though..

the last server from T1 ( PS ) is very close in score with many of T2 servers and the servers who are seeing the “forest”=total score and not the “tree”=win of the match will remain in the lower coverage T2 league.
unfortunately right now in T2 there are servers with American / Russian guilds to cover the late night/early morning play and we will have hard times the defenders of AG in season 2.
i hope the tournament style that devs announced will help the lower coverage servers out of prime-time like AG is ( and most of EU T2 & T3 )
P.S. before 2 or 3 months ( i dont remember the date ) and before anet bring the EotM we were in 9 position for 4 days and we started “loosing” to stay in silver league . i think the system read our www performance and decided that only T1 servers are for us. actually this was good for our wvw guilds because they had always tough fights with much more enemies . good for practice and for the loots
We can empathise, last week was the last Gandara won in ages, pugs are getting demoralised a lot even if most of our guilds are still on track. Atm we’re enjoying the consistent mega-lag from fighting both Deso and Neo-Deso, or Gunnar’s Handhold, as many so aptly refer to them as. Such fun.

Last week for Deso was disastrous from our POV, so far we’ve started strongly compared. It’s been such a quiet for me commanding tonight on EB compared to last week where stuff was reset constantly until everybody else went to sleep.
Constantly Steam-rolling through objectives for the PPT against not much resistance isn’t really enjoyable nor is trying to get close to T3 stuff with tons of siege, although it’s more relaxing and beneficial towards Morale.
There are some people who still play PPT by the book where you cap stuff before the tick, that’s their choice, but I think it’s a pointless exercise when the end of week Score is determined by coverage and numbers.
I’d rather face the likes of Augury in a wvw pov and then Gunnars and Gandara for the fights without any lag. Some incentive needs to be given to spread out the populations and wvw needs a decent end week reward, not just from these competitions.

I can’t believe you said that. If you call these fights ‘without lag’, then anything higher must be the fricking apocalypse. I get the feeling sometimes that we’re the only ones who can’t use any skills during fights against you, apparently that’s true. ANet must hate us. It also sucks like hell when you’re commanding, stacking up and then get randomly teleported half of the distance towards the enemy Uberpanzerblob.
It is funny that ppl complain about skilllag when they cause it by themselves. If ppl stopped running the zone blobs and instead split off then the amount of ppl in one spot spamming one would be drastically reduced wich would lead to the game engine and servers being able to handle the load. Instead of complaining about the lag the community could do something to fight it. But I know it wont happen since the typical players seem to all be about loot and fun. And when they die they blame the other team on zerging. Ofcourse when they are winning it is all about mad skills and siege placement.
Lol, we do seem to have had some stunning unlucky dice rolls! Each week we think we must have some silver opponents and each week we get more gold league fights! Before this week, when we have teams 6 and 7, we had to fight Piken(6) one week, then Kodash(5) then, when we were sure our luck must change, Riverside (4) (Their ratings at the time)!
But. that said, I do not agree with the OP that we are losing heart. We have stayed remarkably determined and managed to hold our ranking through these tough times

I understand demoralizing and watching players dropping out of WvW by the score…
Ft. Aspenwood the Silver Champion is being mauled by every single server and into the ground so much so they take our keeps and laugh.
It’s far too easy to kill a person in a zerg… if there was a scaling that made it harder to kill each person as the group gets larger we’d all have a chance, but as it is, we don’t stand an ice cube’s chance in a very hot place.
