What are the most useless traits?
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Useless weapon / class – scepter guardian … never see anyone in wvw using it – so it’s gotta be garbage.
Well, you cant make such a vague question such as that without providing a scenario. Example; guardians are really strong in clashes, they tend to be able to bring a lot of utility to the team and themselves with different weapon/traits, depending on gear. Yet, there is absolutely nothing more useless than a guardian in full zerker set in a fort raid, their lack of range makes them virtually useless except for the scepter #2 or maybe staff #3.
Another example is elementalists; sure they are amazing behind a giant zerg, but put a an ele in a setting with less than 5 people and you are giving the enemy a free bag.
Overall, nothing is all that bad, but if anything, my vote goes to playing staff ele in anything that isnt a zerg ball, you are just asking for a spanking.
Legendary SoloQ
Downed traits are kind of funny. Many servers PUGs could use these because they are often more dangerous when they are downed. 50% more damage while downed and 5 sec retaliation while downed could help them.
Seafarer’s Rest EotM grinch

My friend keeps scepter on swap in WvW with his Great Sword guardian. He uses the AoE of smite to break siege weapons.
He did tell me he’d never make it a main weapon though, nor does he build any trait points around it specifically, all going towards his Greatsword. But he never goes into WvW without it on swap since its range(And AoE skill) are vital for breaking stuff on walls, and works just fine with no trait points put towards the weapon.
Darxio – Thief Commander
Regarding downed traits, the thief one that makes you invisible almost never works for me. (and yes, I do stop attacking before triggering it and no, I don’t have a DoT on me or an enemy AoE covering the area when it fails to work). Sometimes it works, but probably 80% of the time it does not. It never has worked well for me and I’ve been level 80 since early this year.

I have no problem with the downed thief moves. They’re basically there to prolong your downed state until you can rally. It also prevents you from getting stomped pretty much all the time. You’ll usually end up bleeding out with the shadowstep/smoke downed move. Or delay yourself long enough for a rally.
Scepter guardian in open field is… comical at best, lol.
The majority of traits in ele fire line or guardian zeal line are so bad you’re probably better off not taking traits at all rather than take them.
My vote goes to the Ranger’s Agility Training which reads “Pets move faster”.
Worst non-aquatic weapon would either be the pistol or scepter. Once the Dec 10th patch goes in the thief will likely move away from the pistol builds leaving mostly engineers using it. Scepter is a good weapon just not for WvW in many cases.

^I’ll still be using dual pistols on my thief I don’t care how bad it is, its fun. And I have the satisfaction of knowing I killed someone with the worst weaponset thief has. And I don’t use stealth so I like rushing in all guns blazing suicide mode anyway.

Had to think about this one for Necro:
Focused Rituals – Well skills use ground targeting.
With the new targeting system makes this kinda useless imo.

I deleted my ranger after they nerfed pets awhile back. I made a ranger for the sole purpose of the pets. I was hoping it would be sort of like the beastmaster in Everquest. Not even close.
Worst trait – Reanimator for the Necro.
A sick rat spawns after you kill someone and then coughs until it dies at your feet… then your character proceeds to mourn the loss off said rat.
It would be hilarious if it wasn’t a compulsory minor trait.
80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)
^but, but..I hand raised that minion!

Its actually useful if used with the trait that leaves a mark/well when a minion dies…constant free marks/well…
Also, great for condition removal when you trait the one that transfers conditions 1 every 10 secs is it to your minions from yourself, they die even faster…
Just after take advantage of there constant dieing, which is what a necro is about surely?

I don’t like the Engineer 50% fall damage.
The grenades feel kinda bad compared to some of the other ones, like the Ranger Muddy terrain, or the Necromancer poison cloud. Or the Mesmer Chaos storm. You can’t coordinate the explosions very well, and they don’t leave any fields or anything.
Warrior= Powerful Banners- Banners do dmg when summoned.
Ranger= Compassion Traning- Pet Healing power increased by 350. All pets have 0 to begin with so 350 does nothing.
Engi= Always prepared- Drop bandages when downed and 25% more dmg while downed.
Worst weapon= Ranger mainhand axe. I find ranger mainhand sword to be terrible as well but some people actually like it.
Most useless traits:
1. Any trait that activates on a critical hit that has an internal cooldown longer than 5 seconds.
2. Any trait with an internal cooldown longer than 30 seconds that activates only once before triggering the cooldown
3. Any trait which that falls into 1 and 2 which does not apply its effect to an AOE hit (warrior hammer + leg specialist is a good example)
Why are these useless?
1 and 2 are about reliability vs cost. Having a hit apply burning once every 10 seconds (dhuumfire) for example: you don’t know when it is going to activate so you can’t rely on it. Said dhuumfire trait also suffers from that it only applies to the first target that gets hit with an aoe. If multiple hits in the AOE crit then the fire should apply to all of them, then go on the cooldown. This especially should apply to a Grandmaster trait.
Number 3 is about synergy with your character vs cost. Leg specialist was intended to allow warriors to immobilize everyone in the hit from the Hammer shockwave (3). It got abused by arrow cart users and ended up getting a cooldown (instead of simply not applying to conditions caused by siege). This makes it go from useful to garbage. There are other traits like this that should have low or no cooldown or effect multiple targets before going on cooldown.

A good d/d ele can embarrass most thieves, warriors, rangers and guardians. The d/d build also works fairly decent in zergs since you have decent defensive auras to keep you alive.
I’d say focus is the most useless off hand weapon. Never see it on a guard or ele, only see mesmers use it for the speed buff, rarely see necros use it.
The sword would probably be the least used main hand weapon. Greatsword is better than the sword in nearly all circumstances.
I haven’t played enough classes to really know their traits.

A solid D/D ele can be fearsome. They might have been nerfed pretty hard over the last year but we have one in our guild I would put up against just about any player solo. He is a beast of a player in general but what he can do with a D/D ele still amazes me. In skirmish play, the build is crazy good even with aura sharing going to crap.

Worst trait? Hmm…I’d have to say the warrior’s bonus armor when at or above 90% health because all it takes it a crit and that bonus is gone.
As for most useless weapon, can’t believe nobody has mentioned the torch yet. I don’t see any guardians or mesmers running torches.

torch is very good in given situtations, for both.

I like you.
If minor traits count as well: Zephyr’s Speed.
It literally does nothing since you have Swiftness all the time.
Weapons? Idk. They’re all somewhat useful in certain situations although some of them are pretty bad.
