in your opinion, what are the top 3 support classes for W vs W?

Anything that reflects projectiles.

And that heals aka axe-axe or guardian

Mesmer, Elementalist, Guardian.

Thiefs are the best support class thanks to the new buffs by anet. they can do anything. I once saw a thief rezzing someone while simultaneously capping a supply camp. while afk.

WvW support checklist:

Speed boosts?
Stability?
Reflects/destroys/counters projectiles?
Mass condition removal (for the newbies)?
Knockback?
Potential to heal/provide Protection/Regeneration/Aegis?
Group stealth?
Portals?
Ability to block passage?

If your build covers at least three of those, then you’re running support to some extent. Some items on that list are more important than others, but they all come into play depending on what you’re doing.

In general guardian and elementalist are the ones you’ll see most often running it, but literally every profession can contribute in some way to a support role, depending on your task.

Any player that runs supply.

Lol, well it sounds as though the thief was not in a zerg. Culling only impacts the zerglings.

I’d say its between Mesmer and Elementalist.

Mesmer because of portals and other things I don’t want nerfed so I’m not going to list them.

Elementalists because of Swirling Winds (yup it’s that good)

It’s too bad other classes that can supposedly block/reflect projectiles don’t actually work against catas and trebs (thief/guardian/Mesmer and any others I’m missing)

thieves and guardians can block siege projectiles. Its just that their blocking skill area is smaller so its harder.

Only thing that cant be shielded is the balista and eles cant shield these either.

gardian sanctuary can only block cata and treb if it’s on the point of impact with 120 sec CD. Enjoy ! :p

No it don’t, only projetiles from characters.
Treb, cata, aoe and balista go through it
