Q:
What do people want put into WvW anyways?
I’m guessing you haven’t been keeping up on these boards. I know the search function does not…function (lol it’s been what 2 years?) but there probably isn’t a page on here without talk of boring and lopsided matches, horrible grouping and reward systems, bugs, cheaters, defense being a joke, not knowing where the game is heading etc etc
Remove hard ressing of dead players.
Remove the rally mechanic or change it so that you actually have to do a decent amount of damage against the player (not random coyote) that dies in order to rally.
Add a cooldown to retaliation damage so grenade/flamethrower engi’s, rangers using barrage, etc. aren’t doing more damage to themselves than they are to the other players.
Up the AoE limit. 5 man is just ridiculous in WvW.
Add the option to change commander tag colors on the fly. Just do it, no 300g per color, no strings attached.

New, well balanced, simple, open, maps that are absolutely nothing like EotM.
Honestly even just a change of scenery would be nice to tide us over. Keep the old maps 100% the same and give them the marsh and desert textures or something. Instead of snow everywhere all the time. So much snow…
My wants:
Pie in the sky, no chance of implementation:
- Two new maps every year: one EB and on BL. Maps chosen using RNG (this is a must for Anet) for each matchup.
- Mods (non-paid players with threat of perma-ban for abuse of power) to deal with hackers, griefers.
- Fix stuck bug.
Somewhat realistic:
- Move NPCs a bit away from supply depots so you don’t talk to them by accident when you wish to pick up supply.
Realistic:
- Some sort of monkey’s paw implementation of what’s desired.
They already stated it takes them over a year to make a single map, so… either:
1- Their WvW dev. team is super small (like 1 person part-time)
2- They are slow as hell to make new maps because they are totally disorganized and lack deadlines and the necessary programmers
3- They are slow as hell to make new maps because they care too much and put too much time in all the little details
I believe it’s number 1 since EOTM was released, considering that all we will get since EOTM is a photoshop hue change and minor golem/trap effects.

They do not know what they want they only can tell you want they do not want before they can test it. Once they test is and there is no problem or they like it you will never hear from the same ppl who complained about it before hand but if they do not like it they will go on and on about it.
A lot of ppl can say what they would like but its such a small view and very much what they want for THEM playing and only them that its going to be hated by every one else.
Every time they add in more wvw ranks to put points into or effects that power creep every time there a new map added that non ppt that a pve zone for ppl to farm every time they changes how ppt is counted and or if they add in a new ppt map then your favoring worlds who have higher pops if you add in more rewareds you make wvw into a pve zone krama farm if you remove rewards then ppl will say you must pve to play wvw.
Simply put there is NO RIGHT thing to the wvw players on these forums.

Remove all PvE non-guard/sentry creatures except the wurm and the harpies because #victorywurm and obvious harpies jokes. This includes removal of things like the grub/champ tree dude/mosquito event.
Remove jumping puzzles.
Never, ever again, include WvW in the living story. The toxic thing was a colossal failure.
Replace supply camps with reactors from eotm. Way better than yaks imo.
Raise the aoe cap in some form. I understand there are technical limits but raising it even a little would make a world of difference.
Remove immobilize stacking. I thought it was a great idea at first, practice has shown that it was a terrible idea.
Colored commander tags is a great idea. Charging more gold for colored commander tags isn’t necessarily a bad idea. Its current price is. Charging more gold for EACH tag is utterly ridiculous.
Improved outmanned buff.
Varied colors to replace orange swords, based on conflict size. 25 = orange, 40 = red, 80 = blue etc etc or perhaps one sword each could represent how many from a specific side is at an engagement. 24 people zerging down an endure pain warrior would be 1 orange sword and 1 white sword maybe. Add an additional center sword for 3rd server representation.
New Maps with map rotation. Even simply transplanting current tower designs to other tower locations would make things even slightly more interesting.
Some sort of limiter on the eternally bannering the lord phenomenon. Perhaps give them less and less HP each time rezzed and once at 0 it takes multiple banners to rez.
Increase guards/lords difficulty to be killed akin to eotm difficulty as well as scaling based on enemy numbers.
Introduce the Bell as a weapon, give mesmers Bell/Bell. That eotm Kodan is probably my favorite champ in the entire game.
Certain classes could use better alternatives for group utility in fighting aspects, namely Rangers and certain aspects of Mesmers.

1- 3 different borderland maps
2- PPT for EOTM to promote defensive tactics
3- Guild-Alliance based system instead of a server system
4- The ability to upgrade inner walls and gate independently before outer
5- Improvements to the EB, principally to Stonemist
6- Replace the ruins with little forts generating new types of supplies
7- AoE cap increase for Aoe classes
8- Fixing of all the misaligned textures of keeps and towers, improve the environment
9- Fixing of the getting stuck bug
10- WvW armor/weapons unlocked with ranks like the achievement armors/weapons
11- GvG game mode
12- Guild halls

Make the new commander tag colors cost badges of honor for one, if we’re going to pay 300g for a tag, we shouldn’t have to dish out an extra 900g for all the colors…most of the people in these forums spend the majority of their gold on keep upgrades and siege…what on earth would make it seem like we can afford 300g per color? If that isn’t a hand trying to reach in my wallet, I don’t know what is.
As for changes, how about fix the many bugs that get abused daily in WvWvW? If they would just do that, I would gladly go without a pink commander tag >.>
I’m tired of keeps getting papered without touching a gate/wall/Lord by mesmers getting underneath the map. I’m tired of trebs being built in spawn….etc.

Some people have pretty unreasonable demands. I for one would like there to be more reason to fight in the ruins bloodlust just doesn’t seem to be enough(maybe add supply camps it there?).
I dont care to much about the score I maily play for the fights. Though maybe they could add some type of buff they would come into effect if teams are losing by a large margin. Something that give the losing team extra points for objective they hold or capture. Or maybe a buff they would give teams extra points for taking objectives and killing players from the winning team. Just aslong as its not something that gives teams a stat advantage I wouldn’t really mind.

Void any in depth and extensive changes, and the obvious bug & exploit fixes:
1. It would be really nice if they could simply retexture the existing BL maps, to say 4 season versions of it. And rotate these every 2 weeks or so. Simply having a differently looking map every two weeks would already do a lot.
2. The EotM supplies should come with a +5 buff to them, right now they are no better than any other supply depot, and no real reason to go and grab some. With a +5 buff I can see the Citadel and arrival of the supplies a thing that teams look forward to.
3. Anet should decide the number of players they find viable to taking camps, currently that number is 1 player given you stack somewhere appropriate. I personally think that a camp should give a 3 man team a hard time, esp. if the camp is fully upgraded. This means that the guards should have an appropriate strength…
4. Would it be to much to ask for arena net to evaluate the professions in regards to their WvW contributions, and perhaps increase the usefulness of some of the professions? It wouldn’t hurt to add some utility skills to all of the professions by now, or even a new weapon (just ‘you know’ in general) this might be a great opportunity to have a few designed specifically for WvW.
5. It would be really nice if there would be a reward for escorting yak’s again, but make it incredible minimum, ‘or’, make it an ‘escort X yaks’ for minimal reward Y.
6. It would be nice if there could be a reward for scouting keeps, possibly combined by talking to guards on the outer walls in various locations. Obviously there should be some sort of ‘bot-protection’ incorporated. Possibly 3 set responses, that alternate randomly in the location they are presented in the response window, so that a bot wouldn’t press the right one due to a ‘click coordinate’ thing. Something like:
When you get to this killable and res-able guard on the outer wall of your keep, in location 1: <press F>

Then as you talk to any of these guards, and hit the ‘yes’, a personal ‘event’ would pop up, directing you to talk to ‘all’ the guards to tell them you are also scouting. Failing to press ‘yes’ in all 5-7 locations would fail the event, clicking ‘yes’ in all locations would reward you minimally, and set an internal timer for the event to be activated by you again.
7. Guild Claims on any location should expire after 10 min, if there is NO BUFF running! Let the trolls work for their trolling… and don’t punish active players for the ‘forgetfulness’ of other guilds and their members.
8. Quite possibly the ‘PPT’ should factor in the amount of players from each server in WvW at the time (for the entirety of the true WvW – so all BL’s and EB). So that, taking and holding stuff from largely outnumbered servers during night-time (f/e) doesn’t reward the same as taking and holding that same stuff during prime time. While at the same time it becomes more rewarding (PPT wise) to go after the more represented server at the particular time, instead of Karma Training the weak server.
Making WvW more about the actual fighting and holding stuff, than it being all about having the best coverage/sleep deprived players.
9. All the siege in WvW should likely come with the following skill:
- Repair & Defend: While you channel this skill you repair this siege for 500hp/s, you are invulnerable and all the offensive skills on the siege are disabled during this time, .
cost: 1 supply / s
Which will actually make it possible to hold on to siege during an assault, by playing smart, seeing the supply cap is 20 for a fully traited person and seeing you can’t actually attack, it will make for some more interesting play.
→ Well I guess some of these did actually become a bit more elaborate, I’m fairly sure I could come up with some more, by spending more time on it. But for now this is more then enough.

- Fix the getting stuck bug
- Fix the teleporting and invulnerable dolyak-bug (= dolyak animation that can’t keep up with it’s actual location)
- Fix the hackers/cheaters/griefers problem that some servers have.
- Fix the fact that defending your keep/tower/etc… doesn’t give you any rewards at all.
- Fix the subpar rewards in wvw, especially for scouts and commander (scouts report any enemy info, but that doesn’t give them any rewards and other players rarely send them stuff as they don’t really get much stuff themself. Commanders have to buy a tag (300 gold, 900-1200 if they want all colors) and need superior siege… So…where do they get the money in wvw again?)
- Fix the subpar (often even bad) rewards from the wvw rank up chest. I don’t expect an exotic in every of those chests. But the guildies who are at rank 500-600 only had 1 ascended trinket with useless stats. On average I seem to get 2 greens, sometimes I get a rare and a green). With subpar loot in the wvw world, these chests can really use a boost (especially for commanders who are tagged up as they have superior siege and more tag colors to buy)
- Fix the ‘outmanned buff’ to be actually usefull.
- Fix balance stuff. For example: thief can ‘finish’ while being stealthed, but when a necro is in DeathShroud he can’t finish someone? How is that even fair?
- Fix the ridiculous wvw achivements requirements (like we were promised, this shouldn’t even be a lot of work)
- Fix the ranger and necro minions issues (‘running across the entire map to find you’ and ‘not attacking’ issues). (this problem isn’t specific for wvw, but still hurts). If a necro (or ranger) jumps of a small ledge the pets sometimes run around half the map before they can get to you, why can’t they jump after me? This problem is even more ridiculous when the pet can fly (bird really can’t fly down a ledge? Or over that small gap? It really needs to fly across half the map?)
- Fix the rams (they are too weak when under AC fire.) For all I care, give them an extra skill that can be used every so often (through the wxp system), that reflects projectiles for a (short) while.
- Golems are already pretty powerfull (sometimes already a bit too powerfull), with the new system they will be even more powerfull? This needs a fix…
- Make that ALL classes have something usefull to bring to wvw. For example: Rangers aren’t welcome in wvw as they can’t do anything unique and usefull for wvw stuff (they also can’t seem to do something better then other classes can)
- Rework the ruins (and the borderlands bloodlust buff). When people see they are outmanned they tend to go to a different borderland. Nobody will be bothering with the ruins (being outmanned the enemy zerg can easily undo your bloodlust buff)
- When people even think that they can’t win the current match-up, they won’t show up in wvw at all. The fact that rewards in wvw are subpar and the chance of winning a fight (when being outnummered) are small (and so the chance of lootbags is seriously decreased doesn’t help…
- Remove all PvE non-guard stuff (nobody seems to be doing them anyway).
- Keep PVE out of wvw at ALL times (for example: during season 1, the ‘mysterious probes’ also showed up in wvw, since wvw is pvp and not pve they should have never been in wvw)
- Remove or rework sentries (they rarely kill the dolyak and pretty much every zerg ignores them as to not give away their position)
- First commander tags can cost 300 gold, getting an extra color should in no way cost 300 gold. Different colors can be used for better orginazation, but right now this ‘better orginazation’ would cost people around 900 extra gold (a.k.a. not gonna happen). If extra tags need to cost gold, then let it be maybe 50 gold?
- Option to have a commander tag that is only visible for the guild you represent. So guild people can easily see where their commander is at all times (can even be it’s own color).
- GvG game mode. Currently most of the GvG action is in the obsidian sanctum map. Several people always record the entire fight to that if the enemy guild says stuff like you cheated because you switched members during the fight/random people showed up and helped you, etc… you have a video to prove that it did (or didn’t happen). (Custom pvp arenas aren’t useable for gvg as pvp has capture points, limited people who can watch the fight, too few people who can participate in the fight, ‘unfair’ advantages (like trebs, possible boons, a big laser thingy, pve bosses, etc…)
- Rotate borderlands maps. For example: week 1: current maps, week 2: swamp maps, week 3: desert, week 4: jungle theme (buildings like towers, garrison, etc… should look like they fit in with the weekly theme). Bonus points if all these theme’s are more then a color change (just make them NOTHING like eotm)

kittenmit put a Dragon in SM. Hard ash kitten that holds SM every reset, and attacks it in order to capture it (return to neutral), lets say every 4 or 5 ticks its controlled by any server.
Fix the majority of bugs that have persisted since release. There is a pretty big list floating around on these forums.
Address the population/coverage imbalance issue.
Improve large scale combat performance.
Force port on dead and end downed state rallies. Only way to come up from the downed state is either via time, banner rez or another player helping.
