What is Anet's vision for me?
Well first off, it is up to you, not Anet. That said, I play solo for the most part (there are times I zerg surf if I am being lazy).
I am a defender. Meaning I lurk almost always in my home BL. From there, I retake camps, watch for sentries to be flipped, hunt down those folks and get into fights. The ruins area is also a great area for solo people to pick fights at.
What does ANet want you to do? Assume to have fun
That said, you contribute if you are killing or defending yaks, stopping/taking camp flips and being vocal on anything worth talking about (ie numbers of folks at towers etc).
If none of that appeals to you, as a solo player, /shrug. That really is all you can expect. You want to take towers/keeps etc, then you gotta group up

When designers make games, they typically hash out their vision for the “lone wolf”. Some MMOs make it a point that you can do X and Y alone, and they create that content to appeal to them. I’m just curious (because of ignorance in WvW) what they specifically designed for the solo/duo players to do and what they intended for us.
The only surefire solo actions are sentry slaying and capping ruins.
If specc’d well and good at your class, it’s possible to solo camps and pick off stragglers; though both activities are much more effective in groups of 2-3.
You’ll find WvW frustrating because it’s meant to accommodate large scale combat; and you’ll find yourself ran over by superior numbers quite often.
That being said, small groups are often the most effective, working around the zergs/blobs and doing the small things that add to victory.

Will EoTM be more geared toward small skirmishes?
If you like the thief class, zerg surfing can be super fun and challenging.
I basically troll between a servers spawn and their orange swords. Almost always get fights there but they are often super easy. Roaming just north of the South Camp on BLs is usually a pretty good place to find other skilled roamers. I don’t find many good fights in ruins unfortunately.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
@OP:
In case you haven’t noticed, they have structured it so that you can pretty much do anything solo. For the things you can’t do solo, use the LFG tool.
No room for solo roaming.
Buy a staff, give it to a guardian and run around in the giant champ train hitting empty towers…
IF you do decide to solo roam, watch 2 people hide in towers until 10-30 man blob runs over you then have siege thrown on you “cause you a baddie”
Good Luck out there !!!
….. And Elementalist.

I can’t help but laugh at the way you said “it’s possible” to solo camps if specced etc.. tbh it’s just about as difficult as killing a couple tower guards.. I know you mean no harm but hHa
