Yes another thread on Badge of Honor…

PvE gets tons of different currencies for almost everything. WvW gets one currency called “Badge of Honor”.

Other than the Gift of Battle, there no other item than would need these badges. You get some small discount on Ascended stuff if you have badges of honors but still not enough.

Make some items purchasable only with badges of honor or just remove this useless currency from the game….

They gave out so many Badges of Honor in the Achievement chests that it can never be used as a currency to buy good stuff again. Why did they do this? Who knows.

I used about 7,000 badges for the season so far for siege. As a T1 commander badges of honor is very good currency for commanders and player who donate siege to commanders.
Otherwise you should just get siege and sell them on TP for gold if you don’t WvW or donate to your fellow commanders.

Ever since i finished gearing up my 8 toons, all my badges of honor are becoming siege… I think the OP doesn’t use much siege, since he think its a useless currency…

I also like using it to get armor. Siege and armor. Great uses for badges of honor.

I think the problem with Badges of Honor is that, really, besides siege most people have no other use for them. It’d be great if we could trade them in for a lot of different stuff. Take the old (and new) spvp rewards. You could exchange glory (and now in the loot reward chains) for stuff like dungeon armor, cultural armor (with gold), level up tomes, etc. And yet, we got NOTHING like that in WvW.

I think many people would be very happy if we could use our badges as currency for non-WvW stuff, like skins. We really haven’t had an update to our loot system for quite some time, and you’d think it’d be something which they could implement with little extra “new” coding (they’d have to consider how many badges are worth, for instance, CoF armor). Also, trading in badges for transmutation charges would be FANTASTIC (image 250 badges/charge). Tpvp players can get quite a few charges and level up tomes now fairly quickly (since the update, I’ve gotten 12 tomes and ~8 charges)

Gift of Battle

Exotic Armor (a really cheap way to gear alts imo)

Siege (or gold, since you can sell siege now)

Save a bit whilst buying ascended trinkets from the Laurel Vendor

I would like more uses for it, but I don’t think it’s useless (i’ve gotten a good 10-20k and I only keep about 2k~ at a time because I buy stuff with it)

EDIT: oh, and you can get some skins with it. ;D

Badges exchanged for gems. Hmm…. or badges used with gems on the gem store….

Potential money maker there imagining the exchange rate being not quite enough to buy skins, boosters, and the need to get more gems to complete a purchase. A situation where “x” number of Badges plus “n” number of gems for a purchase (just like the Laurel merchant) only on the gem store.

Potential way to add more interest in the gem store from WvW players, and a way for ANet to feel like WvW players are using it? Means ANet would need to come up with things on the gem store that WvW players would want. Win-win.

Just a note to those who are using it for armor/weapons:

You can’t salvage badges gear. So if you put an upgrade like a sigil or rune, you cannot recover it without buying a (very expensive) Upgrade Extractor from the gemstore.

i always recomend to get this armors/weapons first when you hit lvl 80, but never put any good sigil/rune into it , nothing thats more worth than 1g, and with that trash eq , you can farm your real end game eq (what stats , skin you realy want) and also put the good runes into the eq you are gonna farm

btw i know many ppl that didnt know they cant salvage that eq bought with BoH and i realy think anet should change that, some option like , “do you want to destroy that eq to get the rune/sigil out of it”…you know what i mean ? that would be the best , no one can slavage them for ectos or soll them , just destroy that trash to get the runes/sigils out of it

I dunno. But they should implement some kind of item/mechanism for removing Sigils/Runes from WvW purchased gear. Adding WvW salvage kits that you could buy with Badges of Honor would make them more practical.

Use it for Ascendeds and Liquid WXP.

The badge of honor currency is the only way to really solidify your status as the lowest form of GW2 player, the WvW player. It was supposed to be your unique currency, but it only drops sometimes, buys a limited range of goods, and can’t be used in any of the other game modes.

As soon as PvE players got wind of your exclusive currency, EotM started crapping out badges at a rate that lets EotM players buy out all available goods before you as a WvW player can say “Quality of Life patch”.

Badges exist to frustrate and taunt you.

There are too many currencies in GW2, but Badges of Honor is probably the only one that Anet actually regrets. They are needed for one of the Legendary gifts and a long time in a universe far, far away…. PvE players actually had to bone up and play a bit of PvP, or suffer their way through a jumping puzzle, just to get a Legendary weapon.

That was so awful… that Anet started handing out Badges of Honor in the Achievement point chests. I ask you! Where is the honor in that?

Where did the badges go anyway? Usually it was 10 badges per rank chest and now it’s none. I get some by killing enemies, but that’s not enough to buy all the ACs I need. Tried to see if they were still given out plenty in EoTM, but unfortunately my team colour is really bad this week; I wasn’t able to do anything but dying.
I get that there are a lot of people who say badges are useless because they just follow a tag and don’t care about the other aspects of wvw, but to me they’re important.

I’m pretty sure that people that set down lot of sieges (specially commanders) have a use for them… But of course, for zerglings and ‘we play for fights dudes’ siege doesn’t matter.

We used to have a big spender achievement every second day where you had to spend at least 25 badges. I did that regularly, and sent the rams to who ever was commanding for the day. I still have thousands of them.

Just buy siege with badges and sell on trading post… much easier to convert to gold than karma lol.

heh, that’s true… I think Karma is, by far, much more useless than Badges of Honor…

This is an important reason.

How do you reward WvW play with badges when these same badges drop (in bulk!) from achievement chests? Chests that you can get from never doing WvW at all, infact its even easier to get more achievementpoints when focussing on things other then WvW.

So what if badges can net you ascended gear? Runes? Cool special skins? The PvE crowd will just cash in their tons of free badges for it aswell, and it means nothing as a WvW reward.

I feel as if they should just use badges as a currency for siege and traps. Everything else should move over to a new currency, that can only be acquired in WvW. By playing WvW.

Pve players dont need currencys to play. They gain money for it. We must to spend it for sieges… I think its not a nice thing

How about the runes/sigils that people are complaining that got stuck on invader gear that they cannot salvage?

I used my badges of Honor to unlock a bunch of great armor skins for my wardrobe.
