What is the range of a Treb?
The reason they are hitting further from their original range is the elevation. And planting trebs to garrison to harass Bay Keep is a standard strategy.

aye standard, the worst part is you have to take down the inner door to get to those trebs because of that odd door west side of keep. SO its almost as if it was intended to be used this way.
The Owl Exterminators
Crystal Desert
10,000 units +/- elevation.
Whether it has become a ‘standard’ strategy or not is irrelevant.
Compare where the other 2 keeps can be hit from:
Garrison Keep = The two north towers. Counterable with siege.
Hills Keep = 0 towers/keeps able to trebuchet.
Bay Keep = 1 tower and 1 keep able to trebuchet.
On top of that, you can’t counter the Garrison->Bay trebuchets without either getting through the INNER gate (good luck) or building a ballista directly below the cliffs, then using autotargetting to aquire a target. There is also a spot that cannot even be hit by ballistas, though that has yet to become widely used. There is no way to build siege to counter their siege.
Why should having the Garrison guarantee that you down the outer gates of Bay?

I was actually planning to work up a ballistics chart for trebs based on elevation earlier in the week when my server had most of the map, but then we got matched with a different servers and I’ve been too busy fighting. But yes, elevation difference does have a significant effect on treb range, exactly how much that difference is, and a reliable way of calculating it, I do not currently know. WTB protractors and rangefinders in-game =p
