What is wrong with WvW in this game?
The sides aren’t reasonably even most of the time.

To have epic siege battle you need people to defend keep first.
To have people defending something you need keep with some value.
Actually the keep are too big, it’s a pain to siege and to scout if you are not 2 or 3 to do the job.
The keep have no wp, then there is no tactical advantage to hold the keep.
The keep upgrade alone without any intervention. If no one invest in the keep, then except PPT the keep have no value. But T0 and T3 have exactly the same PPT. Then there is no reason to spend gold and time to siege and defend. You just take the keep back once you have lost it.
This is the direct consequence to all the changes made by anet. It’s explain in multiple post on this forum. But atm no one from anet take 5min to answer us about all that this…
Sorry but the epic siege battle you have know (like fighting at garri for 3H) is now gone..
I don’t even speak about the other keep, because no wp, and too much to travel to come back once you are dead.

Sich makes some good points in reference to the meta-game.
As for fighting, commanding has become impossible. The recent stability ‘fix’ has led to commanders just getting pulled and killed three seconds into every fight. It’s not very enjoyable to command when you’re dead.

It seems every time I go to do any WvW, because hey, I’m a fan of keep sieges, it’s just… constant people wanting to trade keeps for exp/karma, and asking if any actual pvp is going to happen gets you told “You don’t have a tag so shut up or go do Shadow Behemoth”. I mean… what the hell? How is this a good environment in the game? I can run around on my own doing skirmishes with stragglers (In which case, why am I not just doing sPvP), but if I want an epic siege, I’m SOL, all the carebears took over WvW and nobody seems to care.
Adamant, move to Whiteside Ridge!! It seems that everyone on forums are saying there’s no one to fight, yet we’re in WvW each night with tons of people to fight and sieges to take place Also if you want to lead ya don’t necessarilyy need a tag tbh
Keeps aren’t that big, they have verticality which you need to learn. For example in Undercroft you can stay at inner and also scout the north and south outer gates by moving to the edge of each cliff at inner. People don’t know the map so they complain.
Defending is easier now because you have fortified gates which take a long time to bring down. You also get the upgrade automatically as long as you defend it and it doesn’t require supply. This means that with the supply inside you can build your 5 trebs and 6-7 carts to defend from rams and proxy catapults. Supplies get in the keep faster than ever which means that you build you siege quickly and you also have leftovers to repair stuff. There are a 5 supply depots close to each gate which makes it even faster to place those trebs.
If anything arena net buffed defending objectives a lot. How people are not seeing this is beyond comprehension? Probably cause they don’t know the map.
Flipping objectives was easier before HOT because everything would stay T0 (paper) and 2 superior rams would take a paper gate in 20 seconds. Now, if you move into a map with your map jump crew and everything is capped and fortified (because of the auto upgrades) you have a hard time to cap the entire map. Which means that the opposing factions have time to react.

De gustibus non disputandum, but for me the siege wars was always the most boring and stupid thing in WvW. Watching people on one side spamming 1 on ACs, and people on the other side spamming 1 on catas is really dull. Surprisingly new borderlands made shift to actual fights between players on structures instead of just spamming 1 on sieges. And – for me – this is really great direction! Maybe the problem for now is low borderlands population, but I hope that after people finish farming the new PvE maps, there will be more action back on WvW.

Some people want fast fight some like us want big battle for that is called a war. The problem is expansion that made players to take wvw as a farm point and not do fights anymore. New borderland have some nice sand desert design but they forgot to put the open fields wich was the part of the map where the war show was goin on, instead they put all this maze system . defending a keep is usefull to easy to atack from to many corners ex old garrison with a treb you can get down inner outer even kill lord from outside… call that a troll system. Someone said that Anet are watching getting feedbacks and they working on it, of course just been the release and is a confusion but if the new border was so cool no one was coming to complain. Just avoid wvw for a couple of weeks until the things get stable or move to other server more friendly.
We’ve been telling them since Alpha, if you want people to defend there has to be incentive to defend. Right now with so many people focused on “Character Development” grinding xp/karma is the most important thing for large scale groups.
If you want your own pvp, find a roaming party, or roam yourself. Join a WvW Guild and ask for roaming groups. You’ll get it.
One person, or a small group of people can have their own fun in WvW. If you only have a handful, you can go roaming and you will find smaller scale fights. If you want to defend, pick a tower over a keep (easier to control a smaller tower) and cover all your angles — you’d be surprised how long a few people can hold off a massive blob with proper siege placement.
Certainly greater numbers will mean you will eventually get overrun. But it’s fun to see just how many you can take out before that happens.
WvW is what you make it.
Don’t like what the blue tag is doing? Do your own thing, or save up and buy your own blue tag. People will naturally follow the ones that have the better strategy.
But don’t sit on map criticizing the existing blue tag, that adds nothing to team play and actually can demoralize a map. Be the change you want to see.

Fire keep itself in the cave is the size of alpine borderlands bay+ vale camp + arah camp.
Seriously, do you even have eyes to judge map size?
Still ignorant? Okay, then go to EB, run around with world map open while checking EB map with fully zoomed out. While doing that, look at how fast your character icon is moving on the map. The character icon movement speed in EB was the same that it was in alpine borderlands.
Now go to the new borderlands, do the excact same thing you did in EB (with same zoomed out distance) and youl see your character icon moving 2-3x slower compared to EB/alpine borderlands.
They need to resolve the empty map/unbalanced fight problem. It is the single biggest issue plaguing WvW and it has been since launch. If they can crack that code, GW2 would have a bustling WvW population as few games have the foundation to do WvW or RvR well and that is something a lot of players enjoy.

If Anet said they are looking into it and it’s thier #1 priority right now we can expect an update on that “looking into it” in 3 months, a vague implication of what aspect they might address in 6 months and then a long wait to 18 months where nothing is done while they discus assanine features in the game with thier local kiss butts on tweeter whilethey pat themselves on the back ofr a job well done that no one outside of high management congratulated them for.
. If you only have a handful, you can go roaming and you will NEVER find smaller scale fights..
There, fixed that bit for you. Roaming has become utterly boring as other roamers can easily avoid your squad if you have numbers or engage and wipe you if they are 2-3/1. It’s entirely possible to run around the BL in circles and never see an enemy (who might be above or below you, etc).
The new BL don’t promote any sort of fight at all- unless you sit in a tower at prime time near enemy spawn in their BL for a couple hours when you might earn 300 wexp and no drops at all in defending the tower until they come in and wipe you.
