What is your favorite class to pick on?
Everything but guardians because it takes too long. If they chase me it’s game on.
Rangers and Elementalists both tend to enjoy shooting from a distance in WvW. So I always enjoy using Wall of Reflection on them, and then rushing in to take them out in melee range.
Since I play support and run commander, my targets are different.
I try to focus on my party, to keep them together, buffed and supported. I try to attract damage dealers to attack me. Im an elementalist that has a tankier side to her from being able to take damage instead of the damage dealers and glass cannons around me.
I take the damage, water attunement change and dodge roll. The idea is to have targets focus on me as though I were bait and use Chill and Vulnerability, while it buys the others around me time to actually take down targets attacking me.
So my focus tends more in harassment. My damage is weak and its tempting, so I hit players and have them focus on me. It works greatly since my area heals work.
I tend to get nearest to the characters on my side who are in danger of taking the most hits, so I end up in the front row, to middle row of combat. Never in the back. In fact my default position is the middle.
Whichever class I am playing us the class I usually enjoy fighting the most.
I try to pick on thieves as much as possible, particularly with my thief. There’s nothing like hunting down a glass cannon thief with a full toughness thief that has the same exact tricks.
As a Guardian, I enjoy hunting down Thieves. They think they’re real cool until they realize I can still hit them with Binding Chains while they’re stealthed.
I like killing siege.
Commander of Phantom Core [CORE] on Borlis Pass
I attack everything. There’s no time to discriminate I attack everything that pops on my screen.
However there are classes that I scout out a bit before I decide to jump in. Thieves are on the top of that list because in WvW they can still pretty much destroy you in 1-2 seconds. Mesmers are a close second because they are honestly more annoying and hard to deal with than thieves.
Necro’s are free kills in WvW
Warriors are free kills in WvW
Engineers are free kills in WvW
D/D Ele’s are a pain in the kitten /p>
Guardians and Rangers I only get to down state and then leave. It’s bad enough they rolled a Guardian or Ranger.
Thieves because my mesmer eats them for breakfast.
Maguuma
I think most engineers are poorly built, 90% of those who play them have a very bad concept of the class. Even under the best conditions, they only do 30% more damage with full berserker gear than with properly balanced tank/power gear, which means most of them are horribly inefficient at surviving.
I’m almost tankier than a guardian, and I have the damaging power of… probably a mesmer.

As a ranger I love focusing other rangers. Most of the time I can hit them for 2,400+.
Black Talons
Blackgate
my favotite class to target is whatever class is trying to build a ram within range of my catapult, or a catapult withing range of my treb. or the one person who brought a golem and tried to solo a door within range of my cannon. i think she was an elementalist, because she mist formed from the down state back into the golem. which ended up killing the golem when it wore off.
i’m on TC, so i ended up imagining up that character’s perspective. a down trodden waif, who had recently decided to join the military and wanted nothing more than to prove herself to high command by singlehandedly capturing the target that the rest of her allies were unable to, despite countless tries. perhaps there were even nay-sayers and bullies who would attempt to demoralize her and play mean pranks on her back at the barracks. her success would prove all of them wrong, which made it all the more important. so she got herself a golem, we’ll call him sal. she went and captured a camp, or remained in a camp after it had already been taken, building and nurturing sal, teaching him to read and helping him take his first steps. the time was right, so she brought sal to her chosen destination, more determined than ever, and then she found me there, the living embodiment of her oppression. who ruthlessly cut her and sal down in the prime of their lives with my evil cannon of doom. such a dramatic tragedy….
either that, or it was someone that was new to WvW who had gotten a free golem blueprint from completing the trahearne storyline, and figured they’d give a shot. but i prefer my version better.

Your version makes it so much better, LOL. +1
As for the topic, i’d say I go out of my way to get Thieves. I’ve always targetted the strong class in every MMO i’ve played. That, and alot of Thieves go down in a single burst rotation.

The simple answer is everyone. I am a non-bias killer and think they should all die with equal swiftness.
I’m a Gsword Guardian (oh yeh how original) and what basically happens when I attack a zerg is I essentially ‘bomb’ them.
Its my own build but for your skills builders out there its similar to the ‘Reaper’ build.
What happens is I used my elite, Reaper of grenth with causes Chill and poison with each strike to an enemy. Chill being my main reason for using it. Immobilise a player for even 5 seconds and that player will be annihilated.
But I use ‘Judges intervention’ (Atleast I think thats what its called) which is a teleport skill with a range of 1200. Which enables me to port directly into the centre of the zerg that is the most dense.
To maximise what I want to do I use ‘Binding Blade’ to pull all the target I can close to me, this balls up a huge amount of players onto my position while interrupting whatever they were doing.
I then proceed to use whirling wrath while forming a circular motion to ‘spread the butter’ so to speak. And throw all of the chill and poison all over the enemy zerg. Whiling wrath will also do a huge amount of damage by itself because of all my power.
I then roll about and use ‘Leap of Faith’ as well as ‘Retreat’ combined with my Aegis to block any impact that I am by now surely receiving and hopefully stay alive.
Doing I can help my 15man zerg take down a 30man zerg as I basically remove half of their players from the equation.
This is why I do not target players in a game that is designed to be balanced. Because I’m annoying enough to assist my team in taking them all down.
I don’t know why I told you all this.
But I’ve converted plenty of people to my Guardian ways.

You can’t imagine the amount of people who think they are bad kitten thieves and could solo me any day. This game needs 1vs1 because I want to see the look on their toons faces when you shock horror them with Chains, Knockdown and blade interrupt.

Warriors are free kills so I usually go cut them down right away.
Guardians are obnoxiously long fights so I’ll avoid them.
Properly played D/D eles are impossible to win against in 1v1’s so I will avoid them too.
Thieves I despise at a cellular level, same with mesmers. Just crappy fundamental class design with stupid abilities that exploit bugs in the rendering… anyways, we all know why. I will try to kill them but we all know how many escape/survival tools they have along with damage. It’s the principal of the matter though.
Everyone else I treat equally.
Yaks Bend
Enemy Elementalists, especially D/D Eles. They like to Ride the Lightning into a group, AoE the hell out of them, and then try to Mist Form away. But with Magnet and Net Shot on my Engineer, I make sure they never run once their Mist Form is on cooldown.
Yak’s Bend
Rangers. Easy kills for any class sadly. Feel sorry for them.
Aside that, Thieves are probably the next easiest, partly due to many of them not knowing the class, (I play my thief pretty much all the time, lvl 80 for ages and exotics ofc). It’s sad when you see heartseeker spam and just simple walking around makes nearly all of them miss.
Im a bit of a judegebomb guardian like the poster above. I spec very offensively and frequently find myself charging headfirst into the zerg………usually solo and try to land a kill quick and get out. (I love wall of reflection too, but it gets boring after a while)
So my priority of targets are things which i can kill really really fast :
1. Anything that has green arrow beside their name
If im going to risk my life charging into group of 10 people. I want someone down FAST, lowbies we can kill in a few seconds are top priority
2. rangers
there squishy, dont run away fast, dont hit me too hard. good target
3. thiefs
they do have stealth on their side. But 90% of them are glass cannons. And im a glass cannon too. = we kill each other 3seconds flat. They are the perfect target for me to JI blink into their face and kill because the majority of them die in a burst rotation.
Some i dont like to jump.
Necros. Because of lich form, takes too long to kill. The zerg will kill me before i finish them. Warriors, they have their invulnerability, impossible to pick them off before they run back into the zerg. Guardians for obvious reasons.
And engineers are on low priority because some of them are quite tanky somehow. Mesmers are also troublesome with clones.
I like to pick on Necromencer more then any class
Mesmer’s and thief’s. I hate these people so much , always running away or vanishing. Such a pain in the kitten My eyes turn red when I stick a flag pole in their head.
Blackgate/Guardian
Ayy Lmao

Likewise.
However, I play “bunker” necro. Plague elite spamming blindness followed by Death Shroud practically makes me invulnerable for 20-30 seconds allowing for major distraction time. It does get annoying when you look behind you and see 15 server-mates trying to do the same to their distraction lol.
-Sanctum of Rall-
I’m a P/D condition thief. I pretty much pick on everyone regardless, however I do not prefer certain necros and other P/D thieves. I still attack regardless though :P
As an engi I quite enjoy catching dirty little thieves with net shot and than
Jumping on them and
Knocking down so they can’t run more, than blast them to hell with either grenades or flamethrower
Asuran Engineer (Lost)
As a commander there really is no class discrimination for me. It’s more based on level.
A clothie with a green up arrow is as good as dead.
Any green arrow after that is a goner.
After that, it’s who looks like they aren’t in exotics.
But, before that, it’s whoever is dealing the most damage.
As far as classes I enjoy killing… probably warriors. Far too many of them in this game.
Hmmm…. Well their all easy, but I think guardians are my favorite target to go for. For me it really doesnt matter what their build is or how skilled they are I beat them(once in a while one does get me when I don’t expect it).
I go after red names with guild tags, I do get a special giggle out of killing a good bunker guardian though.. primarily because I’m the last person they expect to die to.
Pvp Inc. [PvP]
Ferguson’s Crossing
I’m with most people posters… everyone is fun. I like variety. Although I do get a lot of sick amusement trashing thieves, chiefly because of the perma-stealth/heartseeker spamming ones. Also Guardians are fun too, just because they tend to pose a bit more of a challenge… either their heal is just that dang good or mine is just THAT bad. lol I’d say killing Elementalists is the least pleasurable for me, though. I feel like their downed state skills are still stupid and their end-game HP is ludicrously low.
Henge of Denravi since day 1
I don’t really have a favorite target, but Necromancers annoy the crap out of me. Those minion masters can make it look like there’s an entire army coming your way, but then it turns out to be just one guy.
Crimson Imperium Reborn
I play an Engineer, and I’m on the “Kill everything” wagon, but I have a special love for anything that focus me, in special Theif’s and Hundred Blade Warriros, that jump me thinking I’m an easy target! I simply love these guys!
WvW Roaming movies!
Mesmers. Because I almost never can kill them (most of the encounters end with no death). I love the challenge. 2nd place thieves as they are my nemesis. 3rd place warriors (I’m a warrior as well) – because almost always the encounters are extremely even (many times they ended with my oponent going for revenge in downed state, putting me into downed state and dying).
My general favorite profession to pick on: COMMANDERS.
See how well a mindless zerg does when there is no more blue icon to tell them how to play, or to lead them into a fight.
1) ranger <- always a guaranteed quick kill..sorry rangers
2) warrior <- low damage mitigation and an easy to block downed skill
3) engineer <- dont see too many tho..
4) thief <- they would be #1 on my target list but their downed skills mean im stuck in the fight for a while
5) guardian <- so hard to deal with in a group scenario but i love picking on em in 1v1
6) necro <- death shroud…
7) mesmer <- i actually actively avoid mesmers, but im slowly learning how to fight them
8) elementalist <- impossible to cc and they are literally impossible to kill in siege defense scenarios.
Jaunty Chaps [LAD]
I kinda have the feeling everyone in this tread is playing a mesmer or thief
As far as my list goes:
I don’t discriminate, i target the player with the most condition on him, and then spread them like wildfire.
E.A.D.
I enjoy killing glass thieves and glass mesmers with my condition pistol/dagger/caltops thief
But what I really enjoy is fighting these classes among entire zergs when im on my own to prove a point. I usually down them but can never get the stomp due to the rezzing, but thats enough to leave and hide on a high note

Öhm – your feeling tricked you.
Up to your post there were – hold on a sec – 5 guardians, 5 thiefes, 5 engies, 3 warriors, 3 mesmers, and 1 ele, 1 necro, 1 ranger.
So much for the picky-part (sorry, just couldn’t resist).
Btt.: My fav class to pick is the one that turns up on my screen. I don’t give a kitten about class, I just go for it. Often enough I pay for my arrogance, but this to me is the only way to learn how to deal with all classes.
