What makes you a WvW'r?
Does anyone else in bronze get slightly annoyed at posts like these?
[SQD]
Why would they need to go down to account levels?
We already have server rankings and queues. Do an average calculation of that and you get how populated a server is while ignoring PvE. If a server has 0/border on average on reset night, its a low server. 25/border on average, medium. 50/border on average, full. Simple. Note that this would count all borders of course. Having a 200 man queue on EB and 0 on the rest would still hit a high status.
When you combine that with week to week statistics of each server, you can see trends and how the population change, which gives Anet a method of rating server population.
well, why can’t anet add more incentives for wvw other than tournaments?
I see my self as a WvW’r. I spend must of my time in WvW doing different stuff. Everything from commanding, roaming, scouting and even upgrading objectives.
I got over 100 000 kills in WvW and Gold Champion in WvW [Rank 2400+].
I got almost 7 k hours in GW2 and I can say that more then half of that is from doing WvW.
I spend must of my time in WvW and if I dont do WvW I probably afking or something like that in LA.
For me an WvW’r is a person that spends his hours in WvW and not only when his server side is winning even they are lossing bad.
It doesn’t matter what server you are on because low tier WvW servers can have the same skilled players as a high tier servers.
The only reason why high tier servers are in the top is because they got 24/7 coverage on the borderlands so they can keep the PPT high and they got the numbers to beat you in a 2:1 in a fight.
(Sorry for any bad grammer)
- I think one of the ways to count someone towards WvW population is WXP rank, like ppl with 100+ are counted and are set by system as WvW population.
- The other way is to check out time that player spend at WvW.
- Same like previous but with WvW kills / objectives captured.

Which is exactly why your 7K hours and 2400 ranks are irrelevant.
If your server has 100 of you that are daytime players and the enemy servers have 10,000 rank 50-200 24/7 coverage players… they will probably win.
So judging WvW population on player stats is pointless.

Dear OP… Some of us like the small scale combat in WvW and would prefer it not to change.
Myself for example, I spent most of my time in this game in T1. I’ve transferred to nearly a dozen severs all in higher tiers and wasn’t comfortable until I went way down to T7. Why? Because I like to solo roam and in higher tiers you’re either a Thief or you’re a Thief if you want to solo roam and not get steam rolled every 10minutes.
It might not be as competitive and there might be multiple times in a day where it gets slow but I prefer it to higher tiers any day…
Champion: Phantom, Hunter, Legionnaire, Genius
WvW rank: Diamond Colonel | Maguuma

My intent is not to remove low population WvW servers, but to have worlds populations totals reflect the number of people that are representing that world. Changing how we define what makes a world populated won’t change the number of people playing WvW, but it will take servers like Dragon Brand, which is a PVE server out of matches against other T3 servers.
If you are in Bronze, and the majority of the people on your server are PVE, which is usually the case, Your server will still be an empty ghost land where you can farm cap camps and sentries to your hearts content, without actually having to play WvW the way it was designed to be played.
FYI, I am a roamer in HoD, and it is annoying now that we have queues, but it doesn’t prevent me from getting in there and playing the game the way I want, And we are nowhere near bronze anymore.
(edited cus I can’t keep threads straight… I do want a higher map cap% though)

Not all of us require incentives to play a game mode we enjoy…

I guess my incentive is the community, the people I play with.

that is true but i kinda want the days of wvw when they were fun, and when people would try new builds out. We might regain that when HoT releases
my incentive to play wvw is to find fun fights attacking defending scouting whatever
what turns me off of wvw is population imbalance , time zone differences ,
and karma training blobs

I wish there was a /wvw age command to check that out, more out of curiousity than anything, would be fun though.
You shouldn’t need to pick a server to start playing anymore.
If you picked from in-game for the fist time if/when you ever choose to try WvW, it wouldn’t mess things up for servers like DB that had alot of new accounts added to it.
