Hello!
Yesterday I’ve tried Druid and I felt in love. I want to heal even if I don’t get any loot for that (I hope they’ll fix tagging).

I want to prepare for HoT release and buy some gear. I would buy something with +power, +vitality, +healing power but there’s no set with that stats. In that case, I would craft Zealot set but I’m new and it’s waaaaay to expansive for me.

I don’t see any difference in healing between full cleric set and full celestial set, so I would like to make some damages too. I thought that I’ll mix cleric set with some power and vitality set. The problem is, I don’t know what stats are important in WvW and how much I need of that stats.

I’ve heard that 2k of toughness is a must in WvW. But I’ve also heard that toughness doesn’t work against conditions. If I die, I die mostly from conditions so shouldn’t I buy something with vitality stat?

Any tips?
Thanks.

@EDIT:
I don’t have a build for Druid. I tried everything but I’ve ended up with pure healing and running near commander while spamming heals. So it looks like I’m going to be more into meele.

First off, don’t craft anything for a new class/spec, wait until its actually released because much of it is subject to change until release, remember beta testing is done for a reason. There will be many changes to come for all the specs so I would advise against rushing into anything.

Toughness helps reduce power based damage, conditions ignore armor which means vitality helps with sustaining condition damage. Its also important to setup gear based on your play style. Roamers and zergers generally don’t build the same way.

Keep in mind most all skills have an aoe cap of 5 players. Having a druid in party might make it easier then having to rely on eles dropping waters then waiting for blasts etc. And from what I’ve heard about druids their healing is pretty good even w/o investment in healing power. Again its all subject to balance changes. Generally speaking you don’t want to run a full heal/tanky build unless your front line or commanding, you need to be able do dish out some damage so consider a more balanced stat combo if you want to run a support build.

I say what needs to be said, get used to it.
Honesty is not insulting, stupidity is.

Hi

For WVW I usually run mixed gear sets. I tend to focus armor sets + runes, for example 6 piece zerker + hoelbrak, 6 piece soldiers + melandru, 6 piece sinister + nightmare runes, etc. Then I adjust rest of my gear and change them on the fly to become eitehr more defensive or offensive. Rings and weapons are the easiest to switch around for this.

You can do the same, and yes, you are correct about the vitality, for tanking I tend to run less armor and more vitality + healing or condi removal or -condi duration these days. For me best sustain set is high vitality, mid armor, low or mid healing.

I would like to point out that with HOT the exotic armor bought with WVW badges will become salvagable, so you can buy that and use the cheap sets even with expensive runes to experiment and try out different stat / rune combinations. If you do not like them, just put them in your bank then salvage after the expansion goes live and recover the runes.

If I remember correctly karma gear will also be salvagable, but I am not 100% sure on that so you may want to check it out 1st, but you can buy cheap exotic quality accessories and backpieces from temple vendors in Orr even if you can’t salvage them its a good way to go because the trinkets and backpieces don’t need any runes, so no loss either way.

You dont have to have your entire gear focused on same stats, try maybe 1/3 cleric pieces, 1/3 PVT or dire, then fill out the rest with whatever you feel you want or even change those proportions.

I tried healing power for druid but I found it doesn’t make much difference. So I run full zerker druid so that I’m useful beyond just healing.

Thank you for answers!

You’re right. I tried daze + immobilize + healing build and it was fun. Traited stun lasts too long. Spamming immobilization is annoying for my enemy too, I guess. It was fun but I don’t want to encounter another druid with that build. And it’s too op in PvP and WvW so I think that ANet will nerf it.
But I disagree that ANet will change anything with Druid. They may add faster astral force gaining, bigger radius of #1 in celestial avatar, add some damage to tag or to kill enemy but that’s enough. They won’t revamp Druid and change healing into condition damage.
They needed 2 months to address issues with dragon hunter. I know that they won’t forget about specializations after release but I don’t believe in any big changes.

Thank you

Thank you for the tips and informations

Same here but I’m sure they’ll address that scalling somehow, someday, maybe (?).

Healing power isn’t all that worth it, Eles don’t even run Clerics or anything with healing power as it is. Nevermind those videos w/ anyone running clerics or something ridiculously tank, which hits like a noodle, but out sustain zerker in 1v1.

It’s not a good time to make stuff due to the changes that can and will happen.

I would instead save up on crafting materials, in particular the tier 6 needed to make inscriptions and insignias, as well as stuff like silk and wood. Also, make sure you reach 500 in the crafts you need. Soldier Insignia cannot be crafted though, so make note of that. Also, it may be a good idea to have alternative gear, particularly trinkets that can be swapped so you can have different stats on demand.

If you ask me though, healing power is not too good to make a huge investment in, since any amount of poison is going to mess with it heavily and the big burst damage which is popular will often kill people before your healing means that much. You will most likely be wanted for your cleanses and CC, with healing being secondary. I am not exactly sure, but on release you really need to check out the healing coefficients before you go at it.

As an example look at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cosmic_Ray

Healing: 810 (0.2)

The coefficient is 0.2, meaning if you had 2000 healing power, you’d heal at 1210 which is 50% more! But 2000 healing power is such a huge investment. You’ll need to look up skills with better ones or have a lower base so the difference is larger. I haven’t actually played a druid, so you’ll have to visualize what skills you use the most.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Seed_of_Life looks interesting to say the least.

As others have said, changes will happen so it’s best not to have anything written in stone.

With That Said.

Celestial Armor seemed to be an OK choice for Armor, mix the Jewelry, weapons, and runes to suit what you want to do.
