I really want to know how the queue system exactly works because of what happened to me today and what I heard happened to other people. So basically I got disconnected mid-raid because of an issue with my router which has been solved later so I logged back in. After that I waited a little over an hour to get back into EBG which seemed a little weird so I asked around as we had a few other people joining up with us later in the evening and they got in in around 5 minutes. Why did my queue not let me in even after an hour when everyone else got in under 10 minutes? Keep in mind I’m on Gunnar’s Hold which usually doesn’t even have a queue on EBG.

So how exactly does the queue work then? Why do I not get accepted when everyone else does? Does this only happen once or now I’ve been marked for never being able to get in a BL when there’s a queue? Is it because I disconnected from WvW?

Please someone clarify. Also has this happened to anyone else? I mean 1 hour is a little extreme but still.

Queue is random, generally I requeue every 20 minutes, and have never been in queue more than 1.5 hours even on days when I’ve heard there are 3-4 hour queues on borderlands/ebg.

There is no queue

Here’s how it works:
Player A, B, C and D queue, in that order. They get randomly thrown into randomly available groups. Group 1 (A,C) and group 2 (B,D). After a random amount of time (presumably some sort of percentage threshold for the border you “queued” to, say 95% population), group 1 pop and players A/C join the battle. B wonder how the kitten C could join when he queued before him, see previously mentioned random groups. Repeat the process the next time population fall under the threshold and the group pops.

When you “requeue” you get thrown into a random group depending on how lucky you are – whether that group is the one that pop the next time is completely random. You never know if its the same group or another. That’s why this method is often used to speed things up considerably (same thing if you relog, you can end up in a lucky group about to enter).

So to sum it up: Its random.

That’s a reasonable explanation. So I guess I was just extremely unlucky then.

If we are having the queue bug conversation again as evident of more threads on the issue popping up this week that must mean we are starting to see queues more often lately so the question is, did they happen to lower the WvW map population caps this week or did too many more guilds transfer into the top tiers again? >< Either way, expect more fun with RNG in queues coming to a venue near you soon.
