What would W3 be like without the treb?
I would not care…. I just run around killing people.
Extremely boring. Trebs are what forces actions to be taken.
I agree. Trebs force both offensive and defensive action differently and arguably more effectively than any other type of siege equipment. Plus, even after all this time, I still think seeing balls of fire fly through the sky is really cool, especially in EB, where they’re often flying in multiple directions.

I think trebs would be better if they couldn’t be placed inside keeps/castles. Trebuchets that you can’t reach without breaking into the inner courtyard of a fortified structure make for pretty dumb gameplay. Stonemist can bombard a bunch of towers freely, Garrison keeps can blast away at Bay keeps, etc. While there’s ways to take out these trebuchets, I think the way to siege should be by teams manning and guarding siege engines, not placing trebuchets in crazy spots while firing away via autohotkey.
Personally I love using trebs as tools for forcing a defending army to split their forces while a commander hits a keep elsewhere. Just as an example, this past week my group took the northeast tower on a borderland with 4 people and started trebbing garrison from the opposite side while the west keep was the site of a zerg vs zerg siege. With only rudimentary defenses, a defended tower can still hold off quite a few people.
Any situation that allows a small group to force a 25-man zerg response is already a victory for your own server and another victory against zerg tactics.
