When a server dominates its no fun for anyone
Im not sure the solution but i can say when a server dominates its no fun for anyone.
Im on Crystal Desert and a few days ago we had the whole map, there was literally no one to fight, i ended up logging off because it was so boring.
I wish you luck in the Tier 2 bracket and hope you make it up to Tier 1 to fight HoD, cos my colleague in on CD and I wanna have a fight with him xD
Sea of Sorrows
Same, this is after weeks of ‘preparation’ to give better long term matches. CANT WAIT for those 2 week matches. No motivation for anyone to participate now when one server controls 99% of the map. Players on the winning server won’t bother continuing, and most players on the other 2 servers will be discouraged and not bother entering.
THE SOLUTION as I keep saying, is to completely discard the home server system and bring in something new. This system is doing nothing positive for anyone, and only causing obstructions to play with friends, wvw imbalances, and population dead hours. Return to the guild wars 1 server structure, or something inspired by it. Change teams in WvW to be based on something else, or even make them more like the Kurzick/Luxon system in GW1, make matches shorter, whatever. In its current form, the system is an utter failure and disappointment. We all expected and hoped for much more from Guild Wars 2, especially after seeing Guild Wars 1 abandoned to work on this.
Zulu Ox Tactics [zulu]
Funny, because ET is dominating the ET v IoJ v SoS game, and yet I (on IoJ) had great fun last night.
Tryggon Gathol – [RvR] – lvl 80 Warrior – IoJ
Sechnal – [RvR] – lvl 80 Ranger – IoJ
So if there are no players to fight what do you do? Jumping Puzzle?
These issues in WvW were present during the BWE. Back then I questioned their over reliance on ‘balancing’ servers and was told to shhh up because it was the BWE.
Well here we are, servers are ‘balanced’ and they are being dominated and we aren’t even into 2 week match ups yet.
There’s some fundamental issues with WvW which are not being addressed:

The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
I would imagine to some degree that the server domination has to do with population disparities over 24 hour time period. They should be able to figure out which servers are winning because of that and be able to match those servers against each other. If they don’t they will see a spiraling effecting as fewer and fewer players on the smaller servers even bother to do WvW thus exacerbating the problem even more.
